Khmer-only hangouts?

Posted by ThaiStick on 8/8/2013 at 02:24

Soursdey! I was wondering if anyone knew of any spots where I could find a Khmer bar ( a place where for the most part only Khmers will be found). I've looked on the internet and all I seem to find are places overrun with barangs. Barangs, barangs, and more barangs. I don't want to hangout with barangs and listen to barang music. I want to meet and make friends with Khmers and listen to Khmer music, old and new (Sisamouth, Meas Soksophea), karaoke etcetera. Street 51 is overrun with bars from m ...

Off the beaten track - Cambodia or Laos?

Posted by wheretogo on 2/7/2013 at 18:55

Hi, I'm planning to travel in a group of four in January to SEA. We will have two weeks in total and we're unsure what to do with the time. We want to see the less touristy areas for a bit of activity and relaxation. I am thinking Cambodia because we can go to the islands for beach time and Kirrirom National Park intrigues me as well. I am a bit concerned about moving around too much as we don't want to spend days traveling either. Please help with where to go! Thank you ...

HS grad going to Cambodia for 5 months

Posted by joody96 on 26/6/2013 at 12:56

I graduated high school in June and plan on taking a gap year before going to college. I visited Cambodia for two weeks and worked at an orphanage. I travelled with an absurdly expensive program filled with privileged kids who were just looking for community service hours and something flashy for their resume. While over their I fell in love with the culture and vowed to go back. I have made a connection with an orphanage in Phnom Penh and they have offered me a place to work for five months. ...

Islands around New Years

Posted by ktkates87 on 21/6/2013 at 21:08

I'm planning a backpacking trip through SE Asia. I am hoping to visit Koh Rong and possibly Samloem, and based on a rough itinerary I think we might end up there around New Years Eve. Will that affect our ability to find accommodations? I'd rather not book too far in advance because I'm hoping to not have to stick too strictly to an itinerary and the dates may likely change. Thoughts? ...
