Pattaya to Sihanouk Ville by car

Posted by spaye27 on 21/4/2013 at 02:45

Hi all, I'm planning a trip to Cambodia in early August. Will be in Pattaya for the first week and then I'm planning to hop over the border to Cambodia. Was hoping to be able to rent a car and drive there and back - has any done this/is it possible. I read something about it only being allowed if you owned the car. Also, is Sihanoukville worth the trip? Or can you suggest some other places to go. Any help would be appreciated - total noob to Cambodia and have only done the usual hotspots i ...

Sihanoukville or Kep/Rabbit Island ?

Posted by nickolt on 15/3/2011 at 10:44

Hello. My bf and I are currentley in Siem Riep. We are planning to go to Battambang tomorrow, then on to PP. We were wondering what your thoughts are on sinoukville or kep&rabbit island. We were originally planning to go to Sihanoukville, but have come across a few travellers who have said its really sleezy, with lots of child prostituion evident, etc. We're not looking to party, just relax on some nice beaches, eat a few good meals. So where would you go if you had the choice? ALso, if a ...

Psilocybin mushrooms in Siem Reap

Posted by ThaiStick on 17/4/2013 at 01:19

Hello everyone. I am going to Siem Reap soon to visit the Angkor Wat and was highly interested in Psilocybin mushrooms. Cambodia being a good breeding ground for the species Cambodia cubensis, I would like to partake in a spiritual experience at the ruins with some deep-minded meditation. I am aware of the attitude towards mind-altering chemicals in Cambodia so don't waste your time telling me of the consequences. It has come to my awareness that ''mushroom shakes'' are sold openly in Cambod ...

Best Area to Stay in Siem Reap

Posted by melig on 2/4/2013 at 19:45

What area is best to stay in Siem Reap? We would like to be in walking distance shops and dining. We probably won't spend much time in the city since we will be visiting Ankor most of the time, but would still like to be close to grab dinner and see the town. The area needs to be safe. Are there any hotels you recommend? Thank you! ...

tourist visa question (can't find the answer to this one)

Posted by tropicalfarmer on 29/3/2013 at 18:07

Hi Guys, First post here. Great forum but I gotta say there is some kinda depressing stuff on here re: Cambodia, great nevertheless! Okay my question is about tourist Visas in Cambodia. I am not able to find the answer to this one. Are people able to do the so-called "visa runs" to the border in Cambodia like people do in Thailand? For example, can a person stay long term in Cambodia by going to the border every month or two to get a ENTIRELY NEW tourist visa? Yes i'm fine with payin ...

Itinerary Help: 1 week in Laos and Cambodia

Posted by melig on 22/3/2013 at 22:43

Hi, I am looking to spend a week in Laos and Cambodia in July 2013. I was thinking Luang Prabang and Siem Riep. My initial departure will be out of Bangkok. After I am planning on going to Koh Samui in Thailand. Since I only have a short period of time, I will fly to each location. Does this timeline seem doable? If so, do you have any suggestions whether I should visit Luang Prabang or Siem Riep first? ...

Touring Cambodia on a scooter - is it foolish?

Posted by hora9 on 20/3/2013 at 22:46

My friend and I would like to tour around Cambodia on our own wheels, to see more of the country than just the easily accessible locations. We have experience riding scooters, but no experience riding bigger, more powerful bikes, and from the research we've done, it seems like they are highly recommended for Cambodia's terrain. We fully understand the risks involved in biking in the country as well as the poor condition of most roads, but if we're not planning on going off-roading or to any real ...

New trek in Virachey NP

Posted by gregmccann1 on 15/3/2013 at 03:21

I just got back (well, last month) from a 13-day trek in Virachey NP to the Yak Yeuk Grasslands (aka Mera Mountain). This is a very tough trek, but for those who want to get up into one of the most remote corners of Cambodia, you can't beat this. Furthermore, there is a waterfall inside the park which we could not get to the bottom of. The guides had never seen it before, but we learned from others back in another village that it is called Sa-a-Na Falls. My trekking partner, a professional ornit ...
