We are currently in SR and know we can get a bus to BB (5 hrs/ 6$) but can anyone let us know if there is a bus to Sihanoukville that goes direct and not through PP - it seems a long way to go back there! Could we get a taxi, is there a road? How much would it cost? thank you for any advice. ...

Cambodia itineary help

Posted by smurfzzz on 15/1/2013 at 01:52

I will be travelling to Siem Riep, Phnom Penh , Sihanoukville and Kratie . Based on my research, it seems i need to travel back to Phnom Penh to get to the other cities, so my plan will be PP -> SR -> PP -> S -> PP -> K -> PP. 1. Is there any way to travel between Siem Riep, Sihanoukville and Kratie without going back to Phnom Penh? 2. I have allocated 2 days for Siem Riep with the following places to visit: Angkor Wat, Bayon, Ta Prohm, Phnom Kulen National Park and Kba ...

travelling between cambodia and laos trip advice

Posted by LissB on 28/1/2013 at 01:52

Im planning on travelling through Laos and Cambodia towards the end of this year. I have travelled to Asia quite a few times before doing Intrepid trips so this will be the first time organising a trip on my own. I will be travelling with my boyfriend and possibly a couple other friends who have not been overseas before and we will be staying ideally for 20-25 days but this is flexible. My main issue is getting from one place to another. My basic itinerary at this point is to start in Laos, L ...

Hey all, So - off to Cambodia for a few moments this February 2nd - via HCMC and back around through the Delta. Anyone with recommended accommodation spots in Phnom Penh, Battambang, Kampot or Kep are most welcome to offer names. Any side trips from said locations or otherwise useful thoughts would be appreciated. Simply if you'd like to share a quiet and/or exciting day trip from any of these locations - be it temple walk or motorbike to waterfall or simply a fantastic place to sit down ...

Koh Rong vs. Koh Tonsay

Posted by caseyprich on 18/12/2012 at 01:22

Pretty much says it all - which do you think, we'll have relaxed in Battambang, and Kampot for a few days and eventually heading over to Ha Tien . . . so was considering Koh Tansay, but Stu has been touting Koh Rong so much, I think I could be wrong (GET IT!) on passing it up. Anyone with experiences of both places. I guess the biggest issue is we'd have to go round about as there isn't that direct a way from Koh Rong to Koh Tansay. Any thoughts are welcome. ...

Taxi to PP on Feb 25th - Meaka Bochea Holiday

Posted by stekmer on 6/1/2013 at 22:27

Is anyone able tell me how much a taxi / private car for 2 people would cost to go from Sihanoukville to Phnom Penh ? We need to get from the guesthouse in Sihanoukville to Phnom Penh Airport on Monday February 25th to connect with our flight to Bangkok. I see that Feb 25th is the Meaka Bochea Holiday - is this likely to be a problem? Our flight leaves at approx 1700 hrs - would leaving Sihanoukville at around 1100 hrs give us enough margin of safety? ...

Problem: Siem Reap to Pak Chong (Khoa Yai park) - Poipet crossing

Posted by ACasualObserver on 9/1/2013 at 02:18

Hi I've seen much discussion on getting across the Poipet border from Bangkok into Cambodia and vice versa. But our plan is to go direct from Siem Reap to Pak Chong to visit Khao Yai National Park. I'm struggling to find the best way to do this. I'm aware of the scams (although this seems to be more common when coming into Cambodia via Poipet, than the other way(?)) So how could I do this? Is there a bus or train to Pak Chong from the border? If so, when do they go? Or is a taxi the w ...

What the heck is going on in Poipet?

Posted by anewromantic on 6/1/2013 at 16:21

Hello all, I was just wondering WHAT THE HECK is going on in poipet? Honestly. Do bus companies not want people to buy tickets? I havent found, after months of research , a single reputable bus company to get me from Siem reap -poipet-Bangkok. Not a single one. Im doing the usual loop around Thailand, laos, vietnam and cambodia and out of ALL the border crossings this is the only problematic one. this part of SE asia is full of backpackers, Im sure there has to be something. Is it political or ...

Border crossing -Poipet

Posted by Diobree on 3/1/2013 at 10:15

Just wanted to warn travelers to be extra vigilant on the Siem Riep -Bangkok transit. Seems most companies are corrupt and ripping travellers off. We waited for 5hrs at the Thai border (3rd Jan so busy) and then got harassed on the other side for mini bus transit. Stand yr ground and insist on paying only when you get in the minicab as they like to take you to their family restaurant to "wait" before leaving. It's a scam. ...

Cambodia Islands (Gulf of Kompong Som) or SE Thailand Islands?

Posted by pucca_girl45 on 4/12/2012 at 23:32

Hi, We are going to be traveling in SEA for the month of January and would like to do some island hopping for 1.5 weeks roughly. We would like our island experience to include relaxing and quiet atmosphere with enough accommodations to be comfortable but away from the party scenes and heavily developed tourist places. Is this possible? What's the difference between islands off the coast of Cambodia like Koh Rong and islands off the coast of Thailand like Ko Phi Phi? It's my assumption that ...

Tour or car from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap

Posted by suzienichols on 1/10/2012 at 10:06

Does anyone know of a reputable tour company that will do a one day tour of sites on route between Phnom Penh and Siem Reap? Alternatively a good car hire company that will allow us to arrange our own? Mekong Eyes do the sort of thing we're after but are asking $108 EACH for the 5 of us making it really expensive! They visit Spiderville and a couple of geological sites on route. Cheers, Suzie. ...

We have 1 month in SEA (we are limited to Cambodia and/or Thailand) and are having a hard time figuring out how to spend our time. It's such an amazing place and we may be trying to do too much. Does anyone have any suggestions for us?
