Kulen Mountain at siem reap

Posted by veasna on 22/11/2012 at 20:57

Rather than a hill range, Phnom Kulen is an isolated chain of small mountain plateaux of moderate height lying south of the Dang Rak Mountains. The range stretches for about 40 km in a WNW - ESE direction and is located some 48 km north of Siem Reap. Its highest point is 487 m and its height is quite regular, averaging 400 m all along the range.Geologically Phnom Kulen is formed of sandstone. It was important as a quarry in Angkorian times, the major quarries being located in the southeastern ang ...

Are there ANY trusted bus companies from Koh Kong to Sihanoukville?

Posted by wontstayin on 12/10/2012 at 03:46

Am heading over to Sihanoukville shortly and wanted to get advice on which bus companies to avoid as there's some horror stories out there. Based on reports from this site, it seems the ones to avoid are: Rith Mony Paramount Angkor Express (sister Rith Mony) Virak-Buntham Express Ltd Can anyone actually recommend which bus to use that won't leave me stranded, take far too long, break down or make me sit on the floor? Many thanks ...

He is a bit overwhelm by the idea of going somewhere with a backpack, where there might be a langu ...

Kep - Sea festival

Posted by eastwest on 3/10/2012 at 08:52

In reaction to the blog writing about the sea festival to be held in Kep . It doesn't mention when it will take place. There's just a reference to new year's 2012-13 for planning and that implies that the festival will be held around that time. There is indeed a need to plan for this period, due to chistmas holiday and Kep water festival, but it is NOT when the sea festival will be held. The Sea festival in Kep will most likely be held on 12/12/12 which has been confirmed by local authorities ...

Volunteering in Phnom Penh

Posted by yveschau on 4/10/2012 at 00:59

Hi everyone, I was just wondering if anyone knew any good organizations I could volunteer for when I arrive in Phnom Penh. I have the intention of living in the city for at least 3 months...I know it is rather easy to pay for volunteer work but I'd rather take a look into organizations which are actually making an impact. I have the intention of studying medicine next year, so anything health related would be a major plus. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you ...

Getting from Koh Mak to Siem Reap

Posted by owilhelm on 11/10/2012 at 08:42

Ok, first of all, I know this question may be answered in another forum post, but most of these posts are too confusing. What's the best possible option to get from Koh Mak in Thailand, to Siem Reap . I have heard about different type of scams, and we would easily pay some extra to avoid any of these experiences. We only have a day in Siem Reap (after the day we travel there from thailand), that's why it would be nice to just get there in the best and smoothest way possible. How early in the ...

Thoughts on Cambodia Itinerary

Posted by caseyprich on 8/10/2012 at 19:11

Plan: fly into HCMC (1 night) Phnom Penh (3 nights) Siem Reap (3 nights) Battambang (3 nights) Phnom Penh (1 night) Kampot (2 nights) Kep (2 nights) Mekong to HCMC (3 nights) HCMC (1 night/2 days . . . depart at midnight second day) I'm traveling with a buddy who hasn't been to SE Asia before and wanted to go somewhere I haven't been. Tickets Shanghai-HCMC were way cheaper than SH-PP, so we decided to get a little experience of Vietnam as well, I've been to HCMC and Can Tho in the Delta re ...

Another Hollywood film shot in Cambodia

Posted by sayadian on 2/10/2012 at 05:18

I started watching 'Act of Valor' (turbo-charged action movie about American Navy S.E.A.L.s) when I noticed the opening scene, supposedly the Philipines, was a vehicle rapidly approaching Wat Phnom along Norodom. So I googled it and found it had indeed been filmed on location in Cambodia. So if anybody wants to get a flavour of the lush countryside and rivers and forests of Cambodia you can see it in this movie. My one criticism if your going to make a film in one country purporting to be another ...
