Posted by amcyr on 26/8/2012 at 05:54

Hi there, I've read arround seriously divergent opinions on the boat trip from Siem Reap to Battambang. Some say i'ts very scenic and well worth it, while other people say it takes forever and the boat gets overloaded and breackdowns are usual. Traveling in september, I guess at least the boat would not run aground as in dry season. we would apreciate updated opinions... what do you think? Thanks, ...

Advice for a solo female traveler?

Posted by XeniaC on 2/8/2012 at 23:43

Hi guys, I will be travelling to Siem Reap in a week or so, flying solo though. So I was wondering is it actually safe to do that? Are there perhaps any tours you can recommend where I can meet fellow travelers and stay within in a group? Cause till now, what I understood, most of the people are renting a guide and a tuk tuk, but don't really want to do that on my own. Thanks Cheers! X. ...

Visit an Orphanage

Posted by bhaulley on 15/5/2008 at 18:00

I work here in PP for an NGO, and I'd like to suggest to travelers that they visit an orphanage while in Cambodia. I suggest one that I'm familiar with, Cambodian Dump Children Center. That's right, they're dump children, orphans picked up at the city dump, living off trash pickings in one of the poorest countries in the world. You'll love the kids, and it'll change your view of life and position. You can find them on Street 103, about half a mile south of Mao Tse-Tung Blvd. Email me in advance ...

Phu Quoc to Angkor Wat

Posted by OtisandBear on 23/7/2012 at 21:33

Hi ! My husband and I will be in Phu Quoc from 12/28-1/3. Then we would like to go to Angkor Wat afterwards for 3-4 days. We have till Jan 10th before we have to fly out. My question is: - should we head into Siem Reap from the South ? ie travel to Sihanoukville first then up North ? but would that be too similar to Phu Quoc ? - should we just fly from Phu Quoc to HCMC, to Siem Reap ? - if yes, then what should we do after Siem Reap ? travel to surrounding towns ? on our way to PP ? - is i ...

Best Guide and Driver

Posted by villeam on 27/6/2012 at 02:35

I booked Sotath (guide)sotatyanqin@yahoo.com,www.angkorguideone.com, and Mr Simonh (driver) I was thrilled with our choice. They were waiting for us (family with 2 children ages 5 and 13) at Siem Reap Airport with welcoming smiles and that set the tone for our 4 days in Siem Reap.I had been concerned before we arrived whether we had made the right choice of guide and would it be worth having a guide for the whole time. All of these fears were quickly set aside. Sotath is a warm, gentle and de ...

We are currently staying in Sihanoukville but unfortunately had to move last night because the place we stayed was disgraceful. It was bad enough that they couldn't clean the room whilst we were out but they did manage to let themselves in to help themselves to some of our property including my camera. When I asked what was going on all I received in reply was loud abuse by an arrogant woman who claimed to be the boss. The name of the place is ROMNEY guesthouse just down from the Golden Lion Pl ...
