Charity work

Posted by Jelle on 16/5/2012 at 09:43

Hi, I'm traveling in Cambodia. I wanted to go to Vietnam, but I got robbed, and all my documents are stolen, so I can't leave the country for about 1 month. I think about doing some charity work anywhere in Cambodia for one or two weeks. I just want to do something good for some people, I don't know. I lost a lot of money from that robbery, and I don't feel like having the Backpackers life in Cambodia for another month. All tips about organizations or projects are welcome! I don't really know ...

Good Day All, About me: Solo female first time to SEA during rainy season this year. Flying round-trip to Phnom Penh and planning most/all of my travel in Cambodia. Allotted travel time is 3-weeks. I have questions about routes. Ideally I would like to travel from Phnom Penh to Kep then wind my way up the coast to Sihanoukville; including 2-3 days out on Monkey Island. These are all heavily discussed on the various sites so no questions in regards to that. I'm curious about the trek to Ko ...

I plan to visit Preah Khan of Kampong Svay and Preah Vihear by a bicycle starting from Kampong Thom. It seems I need to have lodging places near Preah Khan of Kampong Svay, Tbeng Meanchey and Preah Vihear. However, I was not able to locate any information on lodging in those places. Are there lodging places in or near those areas? I also wonder about the safety for the trip. I plant to have the bike trip alone. How will be the safety in the route? ...

Here is a link to some photos and videos that I have posted on my blog about a recent, 8-day trip into Virachey National Park. I will add some more comments later about the great # loggers and hunters in the park (they are not a threat to trekkers, but it is very strange seeing them in a "protected" area...) http://calledawaybyamountainspirit.wordpress.com/ ...

I have read a lot about organisations that are profit based, and none of the money goes into the community, ideally i'd like to avoid this kind of thing. I Just wanted to hear some other peopl ...

Sihanoukville or Siem Reap first?

Posted by achoo on 27/4/2012 at 09:13

I'm currently in Phnom Penh (been traveling from Laos) and my flight back from Bangkok leaves on the 18th of May. Which one is better to do first: Sihanoukville or Siem Reap ? (I'm going to do both.) Other then that I'm worried of getting stuck on the beaches in Sihanoukville, is there any other advantage of doing Siem Reap first? Is it easier to go to Bangkok from Siem Reap or Sihanoukville? Or is it just stupid to first go from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap and then d ...

Cambodia in May

Posted by Popnorm on 12/2/2012 at 18:05

I have read that it can be extremely hot in Cambodia in May. Is it worth doing Ankor Wat at this time or would the heat be unbearable. We actually purchased some very cheap tickets from Australia to KL and now have to plan where to go (3-4weeks). We have visited Vietnam, Laos, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore and parts of Indonesia but have not made it to Cambodia yet. We do plan to have about a month in Bali on the way home. Any suggestions would be appreciated ...
