Banteay Srei, miss or not? (angkor itinerary)

Posted by kattkaa on 30/5/2012 at 20:19

Hi everyone, I have a quick question. Is Banteay Srei not to be missed or can I omit it and not feel like I've missed something great? If yes, is it possible to do the Big Circuit and Banteay Srei in one day? We have 3 & 1/2 days in SR, one at the main temples, one cycling to Bang Mealea and one for a trip to the lake (possibly Kompong Phluk). I know there is a tour that includes Beng Mealea and Banteay S - that is the one we were originally going for - but I would so love to do a bit m ...

Angkor Itenerary Thoughts

Posted by brandonc2012 on 8/6/2012 at 16:08

My girlfriend and I are planning to spend a few days in Siem Reap (mostly for Angkor ) in July. We hired a guide to take us around on days 2-4 to maximize our time there. We like adventure and a little off the beaten path (which I know is impossible here now) I really wanted to see Kbal Splean, but she advised against it due to travelling in July. Below is her recommended itenerary trying to suit our needs and a few of my inputs. Let me know your thoughts and if there is anything missing ...

Paludrine for Malaria?

Posted by diliev on 25/6/2012 at 10:57

Hi Folks, I am going to Thailand, Cambodia(Angkor Wat and Phnom Pehn) and Vietnam (Saigon, Mekong river) I decided to take Paludrine (I think another name is Proguanil) for Malaria precautions. Does anyone have any feedback about it? Some websites state it is less effective (~70% effectiveness) than Malarone (~95% effectiveness). Is there any restrictions in terms of how many tablets I can carry with me? Thanks Diyan ...

Long stay accommodation or apartment in Siem Reap

Posted by KirstyB on 12/1/2010 at 13:56

We are currently in Siem Reap and looking for either an apartment/house to rent for 1-2 months. Alternatively a guest house which will offer a good long stay rate - needs to be a good sized, bright room with space for a table/desk and chair. The biggest restriction is that I need 24 hour (well almost) internet access at a decent speed. There are some great houses around but they seem better suited for longer term lets as rarely come with much furniture, which it's not really worth buyi ...

Hi guys, need some help with itinerary! I'll be flying in to PP late afternoon on 5 July and leaving from PP in the morning on 13 July. Tentatively, I was thinking first and last nights in PP, 6th-10th in Siem Reap and 10th-12th in Sihanoukville. Is this feasible? Or will the transport between each place take too long? Also would appreciate any other suggestions/locations for a short diversion from PP and SR for 1 or 2 nights!!! Many thanks in advance for all your help! ...

Most direct route from Kampot to Koh Kong border

Hello! I've been trying to research this route ( Kampot to the Thai costal border) as much as possible. I've been finding mostly outdated information or info detailing routes from Thailand to Kampot, which don't seem to be reversible. Has anyone recently completed this route and can share what they did? I'm planning to bus into Kep, then go to Kampot (staying in each town for a day) and from there straight up to the border during the following morning. This will also be during the rainy season, ...

Phnom Penh Bars for Ladies

Posted by h2onewmedia on 15/4/2012 at 21:04

There are a number of good bars in Phnom Penh that are “Lady Friendly” that is to say they are devoid of Taxi Girls and keen ladies that will try to chat up your men. Here is my suggestion for where to go drinking and partying if you are a female in Phnom Penh. Early Drinks The area around the Riverside is nice with lots of restaurants and bars for you to frequent, however don’t stray onto roads 136 or 104, which are girly bar roads. A drop into one of these bars will almost certainl ...
