Posted by loadabowl69 on 31/8/2011 at 07:14

Traveling from Bangkok to Siem Reap by road. Hoping to get some information on tried and true arrangements. I will have Cambodia Visa prior to arrival. What are best options for limited stops for trip? Any companies in Bangkok that can arrange both transport on Thailand & Cambodia sides? Hopefully some cost info also. Going to be mid October. Also, any suggestions for an economical guesthouse/lodging in Siem Reap? I will be a lone traveler. ...

How is Cambodia During Tet?

Posted by Tukee on 16/1/2012 at 03:48

I regret that I chose the wrong season coming to Vietnam, thinking that climate wise, this is the best season. I will be arriving in Vietnam on the eve of Tet. My train reservation agent regret to break the news that there are no availble seats and they are shutting their services for this occasion from Jan.18 to Jan. 28. That means I will be stuck for 10 days, maybe filing my nails in a tiny hotel room for 9 days. Are transport system and temple attractions going to stand still in these 10 da ...

Best islands (less touristy) in Cambodia

Posted by jenny_v on 2/1/2012 at 22:31

Hello and Happy New Year, I was hoping I can get some advice on islands in Cambodia. I am going to Koh Tonsay and Koh thmei but would also like to go to: 1) The islands outside off SV Looking for a relaxing place with less people, where I can enjoy the beaches and nature. Maybe do snorkeling (I can't dive). Considering Koh Rung or Koh Rong Saloem, any other suggestions? What would you recommend? Is there any accomodation on Koh Tang and Koh Prins? 2) The islands outside of Boutom Sakor ...

How to find travel companion

Posted by DebOnMission on 16/1/2012 at 17:40

I recently took my first trip to Cambodia in November (on a short term missons trip). I would like to go back the first week of April 2012 (I know, the hot season, but have work to finish with a client). I am looking for someone experienced in Cambodia (be it a national or foreigner like myself) interested in trekking through Cambodia. Depending on my work situation, it could be as short as 10 days or as long as a few months (in which case i would do VN, Thailand and possibly Burma). Thoughts on ...

Hi Alll, I have been following for a while - thanks for all of the useful info. Question- are there any agencies in Siem Reap that can arange a Vitenemese Visa? Anyone want to share a Taxi from Poipet to Siem Reap on January 18, 2012

Posted by cla_mor on 9/1/2012 at 09:36

We will be traveling from Bangkok to Poipet in the very early hours of January 18, 2012. Will probably arrive in Poipet around 8am and traveling onwards to Siem Reap. Let me know if there is anyone who would like to share the cost of a private taxi. Our guesthouse will send a car to pick us up in Poipet which can accommodate up to 4 persons. There are 2 of us already, both females, traveling with very light baggage. We are looking for 2 more. It's more expensive but it's faster with less hassle ...

I've ran out of anti-malarials I've brought from back home and have been looking around different pharmacies in Phnom Penh, however none of them have the ones I've been prescribed (Lariam). If anyone has come across any, I'd really appreciate it if you would let me know. ...

How to get the best out of 21 nights

Posted by John67 on 17/12/2011 at 07:11

Hi, I'm just about to start trawling through all the threads but what I'd like is a little advice on how to get the best out of 21 nights solotarvel in Cambodia in Feb 2012. I arrive mid morning in in Phnom Penh so perhaps this will be enough to explore the city. I'd like to see the killing fields, Siam Reap a little trekking and some beach time. My main concern is not spending too long in one place and taking on too much. It seems there cld be a lot of back tracking to get around. Anway an ...

hi folks my wife and I will be travelling with our 2.5yo boy through cambodia in late february. we will be entering from thailand and moving on to vietnam. i'd like to avoid flights as they are expensive, but the overland journey from bangkok to SR seems arduous enough even without a small (active and impatient!) little boy. so was thinking of getting the cheap air asia flight into PP. from there we want to see Angkor. Silver River Hotel

Posted by scomoore1 on 3/1/2012 at 12:54

Found this place on agoda web site while playing with my iPod in Siem Reap. Very nice place on 172 Street, near Wat Ounalum. Clean rooms, breakfast included. See web site silverriverhotel.com. The neighborhood is also interesting. Across the street is a noodle shop called Little Noodle Shop. Noodles made while you watch! Right next to Wat Ounalom is the best travel agent we've encountered in a long time: Ms Samatha at FastNet (combination internet cafe and travel agency, right across ...

Virachey or Cardamom?

Posted by alljokingaside on 30/12/2011 at 07:35

I've heard mixed/differing reports on the Virachey trek and little information, besides ads and subjective reports on self-made treks (something I'm not exactly opposed to, mind you) on the Cardamom Mt. treks. Which is "better"? I was initially planning on exiting Vietnam through the O'Yadaw and heading straight to Ban Lung, but from the hassle ($50 taxi ride after 10 am) and mixed reviews of the actual trek, I'm considering going to the Cardamom Mts. What's your experience hiking/tre ...

Crossing into Cambodia from Si Phan Don

Posted by jennakuz on 15/12/2011 at 13:43

Hi everyone, I will be travelling through Laos in April of next year and plan to go South to Si Phan Don in order to travel over land to Cambodia (this was recommended to me in another forum). After looking up border crossings from Laos to Cambodia this seems trickier than I imagined. The forums I was reading were quite confusing and i was wondering if anyone could simplify the easiest/quickest way to cross the border? It was saying to book it through a travel agent in what I was reading, but t ...

My bike engine is being rebuilt so I've got at least another few days here and I'd like to take a guided culinary tour and maybe a cooking class or two.
