I have my return flight BNE to BKK booked. Going to Chiang Mai first for a month, then to Cambodia PNH for 2 months. Where you come in is I have not got the leg booked out of PNH back to BKK as I have a few days to play with between leaving PNH (29 Oct) and BKK (1 Nov). Cambodia to Laos

Posted by Tira on 6/8/2011 at 04:52

I will be traveling to Siem Reap on Dec. 23 and leave SEA on Feb. 2 from Luang Prabang and I’m hoping to get some good tips/tricks/does and don’ts from all you travelers. I have traveled to SEA before but not for such a, relatively, long time. Here is what I have in mind and it would be great to get some feedback what I should / shouldn’t do, what to do and maybe places to stay overnight etc. I would very much like to volunteer somewhere on the way, I know I will again go to Big Brot ...

Shared a taxi Phnom Penh to Poipet?

Posted by Att on 1/8/2011 at 23:26

Hi! I have been in PP a few times but never try to come back home by bus. I got some idea how to get to Thailand from PP via Aranyapradej border. And I also knew that apart from going by bus I can take shared taxi. So, is there anybody who wants to go Thailand with me on 6 or 7 Aug? Thanks Att ...

Phnom Penh - hostels and attractions

Posted by csawala on 25/7/2011 at 23:00

I am going to Phnom Penh with 2 friends on August 23rd, for maybe 2 nights, before heading off towards Sihanoukville for some scuba diving. I was looking at hostels on hostelworld and noticed that even the best rated places had a significant amount of mixed reviews. Was wondering if anyone could give a recommendation or their own experiences. Looking for cheaper options, but it doesn't have to be $1/night, and preferably close enough to attractions to make the most of our time. Also somewh ...

Legal items to take back to UK?

Posted by pikem11 on 28/7/2011 at 21:24

I'm in Cambodia for the next couple of weeks. I was hoping to bring home some alcoholic drinks for friends and family. Are there any drinks that are illegal to bring into the UK? Is Mekhong whiskey allowed? I know that some of these drinks are legal in the UK, such as absinthe, but outside the EU they are made differently, so it would be better to check first! Also, does anyone recommend any particular drinks? Cheers. ...

A New Look at Cambodia

Posted by Phil888 on 29/7/2011 at 09:50

I recently read a very insightful book about Cambodia called, “From the Booth to the Bedroom” by Douglas DeMarco. It's a true story of an American finding fame in Cambodia. It's a first-hand account of how he became an overnight TV and Radio celebrity in Phnom Penh. It talks about his journey to find himself both physically and mentally. His insights about the culture, government and the people, but especially the women of this Southeast Asian country. are at times shocking but, for anyone ...

Hello all. I'm in Phnom Penh now (21st July 2011). I'll stay here for a couple more nights, probably until the 25th, then I'll take a bus to go to Siem Reap to visit the famous Angkor Wat! Is there anybody here who wants to meet up/ split costs / travel together? Or anyone heading to Siem Reap next week?? I'm a sole male traveler and have learned that it's a bonus to have someone to share experience with. Looking forward to hearing from anybody.., ...

Tonle Sap homestay

Posted by chinarocks on 26/7/2011 at 20:33

Visited Cambodia for about 2.5 weeks last year as part of a ROTW trip and loved every minute of it. However, one thing we didn't do, which is I now regret, was a homestay on Tonle Sap. We did homestays in Peru, China and Vietnam, which were all brilliant, but from having read and seen some programmes on Tonle Sap and how the friendly locals eek out a living (catching water snakes etc), not to mention the natural beauty of the place, I reckon visitors to Cambodia should definitely try and squeeze ...

Thailand to Battambang

Posted by mikethediver on 25/7/2011 at 08:38

Hi guys, I want to go from Thailand to Battembang. The most direct route would be crossing at Phsar Prom, motodup to Pailin, and then (according to what I have read) it is a shared taxi to Battembang with no bus available. Also the road condition is not so great, and at this time of the year, almost at it's worse. Also, if I can't find a shared taxi and I'm forced to take one on my own, it will be mega bucks. So, first questions: anyone done this route? Do they accept evisa? (Doesn't look like ...

Hello everyone! This'll be my first time in Cambodia, second time in SE Asia. I have a little itinerary I'm hoping to get some suggestions on. It's shorter than I'd like it to be; I did something stupid and divided my month off from work between Cambodia and Indonesia. So, I have a morning flight to catch out of Bangkok on the 10th. July 28 - 30 :Phnom Penh (I wanted to stay longer, but I was pleasantly surprised to find out that some old friends are interning in PP and are planning a trip ...

battambang to pattaya

I would appreciate some advice on getting from Battambang to Pattaya in August I imagine this is via Poipet. How difficult is it to get transport (buses or taxi) on the thai side of the border. Is there any difficulty getting Thai visa at this crossing and is it prone to the same scams that apparently happen going the other way? Thanks if you can help. ...
