Newly updated: Koh Kong

Posted by somtam2000 on 1/2/2016 at 01:59

Koh Kong is one of those towns that people often just blow through on the way to somewhere else. On this recent update of Koh Kong our writer found there were actually plenty of reasons to slow down. Think river boat trips, trekking, island exploring, fancy-pants floating hotels and more. So maybe give it a night or two when you're passing through next. ...

flying in Cambodia

Posted by broy on 7/1/2016 at 22:49

Hello, can anyone tell me if there are more flights going in and out of PP or Siem Reap? I will be flying in from Bangkok and later leaving to Laos or Myanmar. I also not sure whether its better to route to Laos first and then to Myanmar from there or the other way around. Although I've been to SE Asia a few times this is my first trip to these three countries. Thanks ...

Rabies ?! high risk ? anxious - advice please :(

Posted by lizepize on 20/1/2016 at 03:09

Dear all, My trip for a month is getting closer. I am leaving in 3 weeks and feeling really anxious. To be honest, I didn't do much research about Laos and Cambodia before deciding on going there. I went to Thailand and loved it, so I kind of knew what to expect. I didn't knew tough that these areas were high risk zones of rabies. This time I will be packpacking low budget so I'm getting really worried about my potentional risk of rabies. I also assumed if i got the shot, I would be fine. ...

Wanna share a taxi to Prasat Preah Vihear?

Posted by VIX555 on 18/1/2016 at 05:46

Hello! We are really keen to visit Prasat Preah Vihear and taxi seems to be the best way to go. We have found someone who will drive return to Prasat Preah Vihear, Koh Ker and Banteay Sri from Siem Reap for $155. This is a lot but could be less if shared!! We have looked into doing it using local share taxis and though it works out a bit cheaper, we couldn't do as many temples in one day and might have to stay overnight in a the town near Prasat Preah Vihear to make it work. We are mainly in ...

Trip from Battambang/Pursat to Koh Kong (via Cardamom Mountains; Pramoay and O Som)

Posted by celsau on 21/12/2015 at 07:25

Hi there! My boyfriend and I are planning on taking the road from Pursat to Koh Kong through Pramoay (Promui) and O Som in a couple of weeks (end of December 2015-early January 2016). I haven't found a lot of information about this road, only that it's apparently not recommended (general advice is to go through Phnom Penh), that there is no public transportation and that the road is not in great condition in some parts. Has anyone taken this road before? Any recommendations ? Thanks for the help ...

Boat - Siem Reap to Battambang

Posted by SteinOfOrange on 25/11/2010 at 13:22

I have been through this before so excuse my dryness (been in Cambodia 3 years,) and here is my experience just last week. $21 ticket for the boat to Battambang from Siem Reap. Told it was a 7 hour journey. The van, which ended up being a pick-up truck, was supposed to arrive at 6AM and arrived at 6:45. The boat was so full we ended up on the roof - beware of the sun as this ended up being a 9 hour ordeal. The scenery was pleasant. Upon arrival 8 out of 8 people I talked with said they wer ...

A new trek on offer in Virachey

Posted by gregmccann1 on 28/9/2015 at 10:11

The Virachey National Park staff has created a new trek to the little known Mera Mountain-Yak Yeuk Grasslands area up near the Lao border. This trek begins in Voen Sai district in a Kavet village on the O Lai Lai River and takes you up to the border mountains where only one tour group has ever been (that group consisting of myself and birder Howie Nielsen in 2013). If you want to get way off the beaten path with incredible local guides who know all the stories, all the trails, all the animals, a ...
