Southern Coast of Cambodia West to East

Posted by bumbly on 16/2/2011 at 12:51

Hello Everyone! Is it safe to travel the Southern coast of Cambodia from Trat Thailand, to Kampot Cambodia alone and as a female? Whats the best method of transportation, how long would the trip take, and is there enough accommodations and towns along the way for overnight pit stops? What is the Kaoh Kong border crossing like? What is the quickest and easiest travel method to avoid the hassles and scam artists of over proced Visa costs, so I can just drive through and continue on my way? Has a ...

Ongoing feud regarding Preah Vihear temple

Posted by wegotoeleven on 14/2/2011 at 21:27

Hey peeps. I'm going to Thailand tomorrow, and looking to cross into Cambodia in about a weeks time. Has anyone been having, or are aware of any issues with border crossings as a result of the feud about the Preah Vihear temple in Cambodia? I know it's right at the top, but tensions between countries are tensions. Hopefully this won't affect crossing the border elsewhere... Thanks :d -- wego ...

Advice on Cambodia destinations

Posted by Jehonna on 1/2/2011 at 21:06

Hi, I'm planning to travel with my mother for her 60th birthday and I'm seriously considering Cambodia (we've already done Thailand). We'll be coming around mid April. We're coming in from Bangkok We have about 14-16 days for this trip. I'm attracted to Cambodia because of Siem Reap /Ankor Wat and what sounds like really great people, but the rest of it seems a little underwhelming to me (I'm not sure I want to go down to the beach in Sihaounkville). Am I missing something??? I also seriously ...

Cambodia in 11 days - what to do in between Phnom Penh and Siem Reap?

Posted by koppeu on 27/1/2011 at 02:21

Hey guys, so here's the deal: I'll be travelling to Cambodia in March and I'm having 11 days to spend. I'm arriving in Phnom Penh and will be staying there for two nights. Then will eventually end up in Siem Reap and stay there for three nights. In between those two places, I have a week to spend around Cambodia and was hoping to get some input from you guys. Since I wanna avoid excessive travelling from one place to another, I thought about visiting only one extra region during that time. ...

Travel companion - Siem Riep in March

Posted by EyeofJ on 5/2/2011 at 03:59

Hi - I am going to be in Siem Riep from March 1-15 and and will be travelling solo. Anyone out there looking for a travel companion to see the sites. Many of the tours/private cars are cheaper if there are 2-3 people. Oh - if that matters (and it does not to me), I am in my late 50's but quite fit and very interested in seeing all the sites. I am an avid photographer and like to take enough time to enjoy the sites. You can send me a private message if you are interested in connecting on any to ...

Are electronics cheaper in Cambodia?

Posted by frederikdb on 25/1/2011 at 19:25

Hey, I heard from another tourist that shopping for electronics, such as iPods and iPhones, is cheaper in Cambodia than in the US. I think she mentioned that in Cambodia, there were no taxes on electronic products. Can anyone confirm if this is true or false? Are there places in Phnom Penh where I should look for cheap electronics? Do I have to watch out for fakes or cheap chinese rip-offs? F ...

Khmer food

Posted by mattocmd on 13/11/2010 at 12:12

My favorite part about travelling is the food - the cheap awesome local food. In HCMC I can get pho for $1 or go to the central market and get the best seafood like a plate of grilled scallops for under $2...all cheap and amazing. In Bangkok I can get delicious street food or go to a local restaurant and eat like a king for nothing. I'm having a hard time in Phnom Penh. Can anyone help me out? I don't want to eat at the expensive western restaurants. I'm having a hard time finding deliciou ...
