Sayadian: Road Paving

Posted by Rasheeed on 20/11/2010 at 16:31

To answer your question in the locked thread over at "new additions"... Starting in Banlung town, the road is now nicely paved to the Vietnamese border and they've started working on the stretch from Stung Treng. And I love me my Yaklom lake too. I'm in there late afternoon almost every day... 'sheeed ...

Cambodia very soon

Posted by Sivani7 on 30/11/2010 at 02:55

Hello, I am going to Cambodia and Vietnam in 2 weeks. This site is brilliant, but I think I read too much or not enough. Anyway I am confused now. May be somebody can give me some tips how to structure the trip. We are flying in & out of Bangkok (13.12-05.01) At the end of our trip a 6-7 days beach holiday on Phu Quoc is planned. I thought following: Flying from Bangkok to Phnom Penh PP - 2-3days boat to Siem Reap 2 days in Siem Reap than either a cycle trip to PP or the bus (haven't g ...

Killed a Chicken. What happens next?

Posted by Rasheeed on 15/11/2010 at 16:20

So I'm in Cambodia, and I'm driving my motorcycle (3 days ago). Chicken runs into the road. I can't avoid it. I slam it, it shakes for a few second then dies. This is seen by a couple on a motorcycle and some small children in front of a house a few meters down the street. It happens that the chicken belonged to the grandmother of the house. What should I do? I know what I did, but Khmers and others have disagreed as to if I acted appropriately. What would you do? 'sheeed ...

Siem Reap to Koh Samui-need to go through Bangkok?

Posted by jessicaf on 22/11/2010 at 15:50

Hi, I am trying to find the best way to get from Siem Riep to Koh Samui. I have looked at flights and they are very expensive (around 500 USD). Do I have to go through Bangkok, then down to Surat Thani, then ferry to the island? If so, how long from Siem Reap to Bangkok and how long from Bangkok to Surat Thani? I am just trying to get an idea of the travel times. Thanks in advance! ...

Cambodia E Visa

Posted by dganitbz on 21/11/2010 at 16:55

I want to save some time and hassle, so I was thinking of using the E visa service that will of course cost me 5$ more-but I hope is worth it. I intend to enter Cambodia from Bangkok at Poipet/Aranyaprathet and exit to Vietnam at Kaam Samnor/Chau Doc (Or maybe Bavet/Moc Bai.) At Poipet and Bavet the E visa can be used for entry At Kaam Samnor/Chau Doc, the E visa cannot be used for entry but according to www.mfaic.gov.kh ,the E visa is good for Exit at all border crossings .. The problem is, the ...

Sihanoukville guide

Posted by dandav on 18/11/2010 at 06:47

A great tour guide with his own bike to take you around or can arrange a car. Cost is between $15 and $25 depending on hours and distance travelled. Rith (24) is full of knowledge and advice of this area, as he grew up here. A nice story of his life if you get to know him. Speaks very good english and keeps you informed with SMS or emails. He looked after me for 4 days while in Sihanoukville going to waterfalls, Ream NP deserted beach, city tour, beach tour and lots of other interesting places ...

I am expecting a tropical rain forest, wildlife, staying overnight, untouched nature etc.. Has anybody already been there? What is the best way to go? Any recommendations regarding accommodation? Thanks a lot. Bye roccstar ...

Hi, now I know you aren't allowed to drive you own bike in Angkor grounds but I know it is actually possible. Has anyone done it can can anyone give advice on how where to enter the park from? Obviously the normal gate is out of the question but I guess there are endless routes into the park other than that one. I found these guys who did it this year http://vimeo.com/13243194 This will be my 4th or 5th visit to cambo and 3rd time to Angkor so I'm not really going to be riding to temples wher ...

Cab from Siem Reap airport into town

Posted by StreetSpirit13 on 13/11/2010 at 18:59

This is a cautionary tale and request for advice: please tell me what I should have done to avoid this awkward situation... I flew into Siem Reap today and got a taxi into town. I had gotten my ticket for the taxi at the counter in front of the airport ($7), and told the driver where I was going. He said he knew where it was and how to get there. On the way, he started telling me about all these "family owned guesthouses" I could stay at, and how cheap they were. I kindly told him n ...

Overnight cruise (Bassac) angkor Borei or around to Phnom Penh?

Posted by jadzia on 14/11/2010 at 18:50

Hi guys! We intend to travel from the southeastern tip of Cambodia (Kampot/Kep) up north to Phnom Penh. We would love to make an overnight cruise, maybe starting somewhere around Angkor Borei. I know there is alot of Boats taking the route from Chau Doc... But we will coss the border in the south from Ha Tien (Prek Chak - Xa Xia) directly to Kep, so it wouldbe useless to go all the way back to Chau Doc, especially as we do not have multiple entry visa for Vietnam. Is it possible to "hop on ...

HCMC - Siem Reap in 1,5 days

Hello, I need to reach Siem Reap in 1,5 days, in other words, I will arrive in HCMC airport on Monday night and I have to be in Siem Reap at least on Wednesday morning. I know there are 2 basic ways to get there: 1. Direct bus from HCMC to Siem Reap. 2. HCMC-Chau Doc (bus), Chau Doc-PP (boat) and PP-Siem Reap (bus, better than boat). I have 2 questions: A/ Where can I find the timetables or information about the direct buses between HCMC and Siem Reap? B/ Is it possible the second option? Wh ...

Hello! I would first like to say that I love this website. I just bought my plane ticket for a kind of spur of the moment trip to SE Asia by myself. I've been doing some research and this is by far the best and most informational site I have found. I'm pretty overwhelmed because I want to go everywhere and see everything. I know I have a very limited time though so I would like to stick to 1 country. I'm flying into Bangkok at the end of Nov and I think I want to spend most of my time in ...

Hi everyone So, I'm looking for itinerary/route suggestions for my second trip to Cambodia. I have11 days approximately. Before Im told to search the forum...I've been to Cambodia before so am looking for particular advice that takes this in to account. I did 5 days in Siem Reap/PP last year so have done the 'obvious' touristy stuff (angkor wat/S21 etc) - dont mind returning to either town, and in fact am arriving into Bangkok and looking to fly out of PP .
