Phnom Penh 6D5N, should I venture into Siem Reap?

Posted by DomesticG on 15/10/2010 at 12:00

Out of excitement from Jetstar's promotion, I managed to grab a ticket to PP for US$100! Unfortunately, what I missed out was some good planning before hand. 6D5N seems a bit too much for Phnom Penh. As usual, my itinerary would be the norms-must see. Day 1: Touch down at night, nothing much can be done Day 2: Tuol Sleng Genocide, Killing Fields, Russian Market, Royal Palace, etc Day 3: Khmer cooking class, Mekong River cruise From here, I have 2 choices, should I a) Stay in Phnom Penh. Go fo ...

Phnom Penh to Phu Quoc island

Posted by Lodestar on 8/9/2009 at 23:20

Basically that is it - looking for any tips, advice and info on how to get from PP to Phu Quoc in Vietnam. After researching crossing the Cambodia-Vietnam border, thought that instead of doing the direct PP-HCMC bus and from there Mekong Delta and Phu Quoc islad, it would be more interesting (though more time consuming i imagine?) to cross the border via Neak Luong and Chau Doc . So far, so good. But having trouble finding how to get from Chau Doc to Phu Quoc. Anyone done the trip recently? ...

Siem Reap to Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport over land

Posted by sreid9 on 13/12/2008 at 16:42

Hi there. Does anyone know the most direct and efficient route from Siem Reap to the Suvarnabhumi airport by bus and/or taxi? I am currently in Siem Reap and have been given the following options from travel agents: 1. Bus from SR to Koh San Rd., then taxi or shuttle from there. 2. Get ripped off with arranged taxi rides on both sides of the border for $150-175. 3. Taxi to the Cambodia/Thai border, then taxi to the airport (or bus if I'm lucky). For option 3, there doesn't seem to be ...

Hi, as part of my SE asia tour I am staying in Ta Phin village in sapa for a few days. I have arranged this independently with the people of the village. I am trying to find something similar in Cambodia. I don't want to be on an organised tour but would love to be able to arrange a short stay at a floating village or similar with a local family. Hi there, Im currently trying to plan a 3 week trip to Cambodia and Laos for my partner and myself in november/december. My current thoughts on an itinerary are this.. 1- Morning flight KL to SR 2- Angkor 3- Angkor 4- Angkor + night bus to Sihanoukville 5- Sihanoukville 6- Si ...

Angkor - What to expect

Posted by 5acrefarmer on 20/9/2010 at 19:41

Wondering if anyone would share their experiences of visiting Angkor Wat. I'm unsure how much time is enough, maybe 2 days is plenty. Also is it enough to aimlessly wander about or do some planning beforehand. Everyone would have different ideas so to hear some of those different approaches and why you were happy with them would be good. Also, I've seen on TV some serious crowds there and wondering if that happens in a small part of Angkior Wat and if certain parts of the day or week are bet ...
