Be careful!!!!!

Posted by jaynkazza on 25/10/2006 at 21:38

It took us 19hrs from Bangkok to get to Siem Reap because the so called roads became rivers! We were taken in a mini bus luckily (some groups mini bus had broken down so they had to go in the back of a pick up truck) We arrived at Angkor Health Villa (a guesthouse we were taken to at 3 am)it was cheap and the rooms were okay but the next morning we decided to visit Angkor wat and the mini bus drivr and his friends took us on mopeds, he said it would be 20usd to get in and 5usd each for them. We ...

King Angkor Hotel Siem Reap is gross

Posted by m2adventures on 25/12/2008 at 12:46

Yes, I understand that sometimes, a $10 place means slightly worn, or maybe a bit noisy, but this place was that, plus rather dirty... Well, the bathroom was. I know that the cheaper the room, the more you put up with, but the 4cm strip of thick black mold and mildew around the bathtub (yes, a western bathtub!) in the bathroom was too much. We didn't notice the smell when we checked in since we were so tired (after waking up at 4am that day to catch our flight out of Vientiane) and you know ...

Bus from Siem Reap to Sihanoukville

Posted by KSGX on 27/11/2008 at 23:21

The last warning based on my recent experience: it is not 9 hours, it is 14. The taxi from Siem Reap to Phnom Penh is 80 dollars and from Phnom Penh to Sihanoukville 45, so still much cheaper than the plane. My advice: find someone to share the taxi. ...

Boat from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap

Posted by KSGX on 27/11/2008 at 23:15

I thought that there was not anything that could stop me from enjoying wonderful Mekong landscapes, but... Think twice before you take this boat, when they tell you that it is faster than the bus it is not quite true, same 7 hours. 35 dollars is too expensive for sitting 7 hours in a very uncomfortable position and in a freezing cold, because the air conditionning system can only work at its maximum and as we were told impossible to switch off. Obviously, you have no access to your backpacks or ...

Weddings In Cambodia

Posted by wendo on 6/9/2008 at 06:25

When you first arrive in Cambodia and see a brightly coloured striped marquee/gazebo/tent erected, DO NOT STAY anywhere near it. I mean even within 5 blocks distance. This is a Cambodian Wedding. They are loud and go for days. Unless of course you like to listen to loudspeakers with chanting, Cambodian music in various forms (depending on their budget) and Cambodian comedy. We were unfortunate to have one right next door to our room in our guesthouse. I have never experienced sleep deprivatio ...
