Itinerary help - Thai, Viet, Laos, Camb, 7 weeks.

Posted by HexagonalBolts on 22/6/2011 at 14:25

Hello everyone. I made a post about my itinerary before but I've a better idea of what I am doing now and I have some specific questions. I am travelling from the 1st of June to the 20th of August. I want to go in a rough loop, something like this, it's all very flexible though: Bangkok Chiang Mai Southern Laos Down through Vietnam Back to Bangkok through Cambodia (definitely seeing Angkor Wat) Is this circular route ok? Or would this route have bad transport / would there be a faster way ...

SE Asia in April

Posted by ambersaffron on 23/6/2011 at 02:18

This is my first posting but I've been scouring the site for some time now. I'm planning an extended trip to SE Asia for Dec. 2011-Oct 2012. I'll spend time in Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, Malaysia and Burma (probably not in that order). I have tons of questions, but my first is about weather. From what I can figure out, April is the hottest month in the region. Does anyone have any advice on where to spend April and not be miserably hot? Thanks! ...

First trip to SE Asia. Suggestions?

Posted by jordan on 9/11/2010 at 05:10

Hi all, Sorry for yet another 'where should I go' question, but I have been reviewing itineraries and there is so much to see. I have a little under a month, and this will be my first trip to the area (have only been to China within Asia, for 3.5 weeks). I would like to go to Thailand and Vietnam, and possibly stop in Cambodia/Laos if time permits. I was hoping to do a 'sample' of the countries, so on subsequent trips I can choose which I would like to explore more. I am 25 y/o male from Los A ...

Cambodia and Indonesia: ridiculous itinerary

Posted by silverteeth on 16/6/2011 at 09:39

I have three weeks off in August, and I'm thinking I'd like to go back to Southeast Asia. (I'd been about 2 years ago, mostly to Laos, kind of bookended with Thailand). I've been having trouble deciding between Indonesia and Cambodia, and I thought, why the hell not do both? At the same time, though, it does seem kind of ridiculous. Currently, I'm thinking, very roughly, that I'd fly into Siem Reap, make my way to Phnom Phenh by way of Battambang, fly via Kuala Lumpur to Yoghyakarta, and t ...

Yunnan China _advice and Itinerary

Posted by kandpfishos on 10/6/2011 at 11:18

G’Day We will be in SE Asia later this year, and our trip really starts in Yunnan China. We will be in this single area for about 30 days. We would appreciate your comments and fine-tuning of our itinerary for the Yunnan component of the trip. We are twomid/late-60’s Australian blokes, accustomed to independent travel and each other (we have lived and travelled together for over 35 years – so we know each others foibles and habits too well!) We will be entering into Kunming on/about 22 ...

National Day Holiday in China?

Posted by kandpfishos on 11/6/2011 at 03:00

G’Day We posted a separate Yunnan trip itinerary in this board. This post concerns National Day Holidays and what to expect. We know nothing - zip, nada, empty headed - about the China National Holiday. We will be in this area around thattime: Lijiang – 3 days – by local bus (fromQiatou/Tiger Leaping Gorge) Shaxi – 5 days – by local bus from above Question: This period coincides with National Day Holidays from, we think, 1 October to end of the next week. We have read that all ...

Hi there, I've been planning my trip around the world but I'm not sure what the best route is from Hanoi to Bangkok. I'm going to travell south from Beijing and the most logical is to cross the border at Hanoi. Adventually I have to end up in Bangkok to take a train that will take me through Malysia but I need some route advise about getting from Hanoi to Bangkok and still actually see some of Vietnam, Laos and Cambodja. I have about a month. Can anybody give me some tips? Léonie. ...

Vietnam & Laos - Too many places, too little time

Posted by kiwiexplorer on 2/6/2011 at 07:20

Hi guys, Two of us are travelling to Laos and Vietnam in August, with around 3 weeks only, and although we have cancelled out many places already, we are still stuck as to what we should see and do in such little time. If anyone could offer their advice as to what is a must see, where we should spend more/less time in, or cancel out altogether then that would be much appreciated. Especially if anyone has experience with "The Laos Loop" and "the Gibbon Experience" it would b ...

Or should I still use a card? Or...? ...
