10-Day Honeymoon in December: Laos or Vietnam?

Posted by glomer on 23/2/2010 at 12:27

Apologies for the stock question--I've reviewed the sample itineraries, searched the forum, and would still appreciate some individual guidance. We're planning a long-delayed 10-day honeymoon for December and are struggling to decide between Laos and Vietnam (flying into Hanoi). We don't want to be spread too thin; interests include art, temples, food, street life. We've traveled in insular SEA, where my family is from, but never on the mainland. Any advice would be much appreciated. ...

I am going to thailand, laos, cambodia, and vietnam(in that order) for 2 months this summer. So I have a 70 liter backpack... I have already bought rainpants, quick drying underwear, a few shirts, a watch, sunglasses, and a water purification system. What about oth ...

Hi :) After using this website for months to plan for my first trip outside Europe *gulp* I still don't know what it means on here when it just says "bungalow". i.e does it have single beds or doubles generally? Also, if it is big enough for two, and two stay in it do you pay double the price quoted on here? Thanks in advance, Mike. ...

Thing is we're not sure what we're doing and do hope to get on some treks into the country so have decided we should take Maleria tablets but wondered if they are easily availble when we get to Bangkok and are they cheaper there? For the Malarone ones which are the most exspensive it's ...

Oil painter/artist going to SE asia - Equipment Questions

Posted by stovetopchicago on 30/12/2009 at 09:37

Oil painter/artist going to SE asia - Equipment Questions I am taking a four month trip to Thailand, Laos and Vietnam. My goal is tourism and to make on location oil paintings. So I take a significant amount of art supplies and a small portable easel that end up in my ratty old backpack which probably weighs 15 to 20 KG. I've done this in Europe and Central America. It sucks to lug around that stuff until I am blissfully set up somewhere sketching away. So my other stuff, 3 days change of cl ...

Posted by Chilko on 17/1/2010 at 02:23

My wife and I are going to Thailand (briefly), Cambodia and Vietnam for 3 weeks in late June and early July. We land in Bangkok and plan to go to Koh Chang, then on to Cambodia (Phomh Penh and Angkor Wat) and Vietnam. I had hoped to get as far as Hanoi and Halong bay, but now I am thinking this is too much ground to cover. Is there a easy/safe/best route to cross into Cambodia from Koh Chang ? Am looking for best route and order to see Angkor wat, Pnomh Penh, Chau Doc, Saigoin, Hoi An ...

Has anyone triedSuggested itineraries Cambodia, Laos & Vietnam

Posted by John67 on 21/12/2009 at 18:53

I have a months leave to take and would like to see the three countires covered by this itinery. I plan to go in March April '10. I'd like to see Angor Wat, go trekking see the Karsts, tunnels wander around some colonial towns hit some beaches and just really relax (and socialise a bit..). At the moment there's just too much information and I'm getting bogged down. I'm also concerned about trying to do too much and losing out in the long run so if anyone has some advice feel free. Thanks John ...

Advice for two weeks in either Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam

Posted by ponarv on 31/12/2009 at 01:42

sorry, this was initially posted in the Laos section by accident... Hello, my wife and I have two weeks off and would like to travel in two of the following countries...Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia. I know each destination has different things to offer, but given our time constraints, I'm wondering which two would be the best. For example, I have heard it generally takes a longer time to get from point A to point B in Laos. We looking to combine some "on the go" sight seeing with a few days down tim ...

SE Asia in March or late April->May

Posted by George_S on 7/1/2010 at 19:05

Hi there, I will be travelling to SE Asia some time between March and June but would like some advice about the weather. The original plan was to spend five weeks in the region from March 3rd onwards before moving on to Australia and NZ. However, I'm beginning to think (if it's possible with flights) to switch our itinerary around a bit to accommodate better weather in both regions - spending March - April in NZ Australia and May in SE Asia. Considering how hot and dusty it can get in ...
