A holiday after graduating from uni and before starting a 'real' job....help with itinerary please?

Posted by sophierose87 on 13/7/2010 at 15:53

I'm set to graduate from veterinary school in early December. Unfortunately its a good idea for me to start a job in january or at least early february so i don't forget everything i've learnt! I definately want to visit Cambodia and the Angkor temples, and definately want to go to Chiang Mai (desperately want to visit the Elephant Nature Park). I've also entertained the idea of crossing over into Laos. Rough itinerary? For 5 weeks... I figured I'd fly into Bangkok as its cheap. I am open ...

Budget Accomodations in South Korea

Posted by ima221 on 30/6/2010 at 22:01

I apologize if I am posting this in the wrong spot, as I could not find where to ask questions about Korea. I am going to SE Asia for 3.5 months, and will be spending the first 2 weeks in South Korea. I am concerned about the prices there compared to the rest of my trip. Has anyone stayed in a cheap place that they'd recommend in South Korea? Thanks! ...

26 days in SE Asia

Posted by NorwegianP on 10/6/2010 at 01:13

Hi! We are two Norwegian guys planning out our trip to Asia in mid-July - August. At our disposal is 26 days, and since we both are students and funds are somewhat restricted, we've decided to start and stop the trip in Bangkok, Thailand because the flight price is the cheapest to this airport. From here we are a bit blank, but have been checking out the option to go something like Vientiane (Laos) Savannakhet Hoi An (Vietnam) Nha Trang Ho Chi Minh/Saigon Phnom Penh (Cambodia) Siem Reap And the ...

21 days to kill

Posted by gots2travel on 17/6/2010 at 17:07

I've just got done doing northern thailand, laos, vietnam and cambodia and now have an extra 21 days to kill before returning to the islands of southern Thailand. I'm thinking of heading to Borneo in Malaysia and Bali in Indonesia for some diving and surfing but not sure if that will fill up 21 days completely. I really want to go to sipadan in borneo to dive but beyond that I'm flexible. More or less just looking for some adventure travel outside of typical sightseeing. Any recommendations? ...

My husband and I are going arriving in Bangkok on July 26 2010 and leaving from Hanoi on Aug 18 (a little over 3-weeks). We don't want to feel very rushed but we do want to experience different places. We will mostly be flying to save time. T ...

Good-day, Please help me sort my itinerary out. How would I go about catching a bus from Chiang Mai across the border to Houei Xai? My final destination is the Gibbon Reserve development in Laos. What bus terminal will I need to go to in Chiang Mai? According to my map, there are at least 2 bus terminals: Chang Phueak and Arcade. What bus should I catch? Will I need to buy tickets in advance? Is there a bus schedule somewhere online? Thank you very much! ...

Starting SE Asia travel September/October, advice needed please..

Posted by Steve81 on 26/5/2010 at 03:22

Hi, just after a bit of advice if possible.. I've recently had to change my travel plans (redundancy), and will now be heading to South East Asia in September rather than November as I had oiginally planned. I plan to spend about 8 - 10 months exploring as much as possible (but not too quickly) and I'm not really bothered about going back on myself a bit etc. I've heard (perhaps incorrectly!) that september and Ocotober are not great months for SE Asia due to the rain, including the Southern Th ...

Staying Dry- Rain Jacket? Poncho?

Posted by AdamZee on 16/5/2010 at 02:09

I am having the hardest time deciding what would be the best option as far as staying dry in the rain. I prefer jackets over ponchos but I am worried about the heat and "muggyness" while in eastern thailand, cambodia, and vietnam during the end of June through to August. I want to get opinions since I am having trouble finding what everyone likes. I have seen a couple rain shells from REI and Arcteryx, one Gore-tex and the eVent waterproof liners. Just not sure if it is worth 200-30 ...
