I was planning on mostly doing Vietnam with a bit in Laos to do Vientiane, VV and a day in LP. However, I have recently been thinking about cutting the Vietnam trip in favor of seeing Cambodia. One of my main interests is the nightlife and party scene of my destinations but I would really like to see Cambodia before it becomes further developed. So how is the nightlife in Cambo ...

Any Comments on Planned Itinerary?

Posted by RichMelZA on 21/10/2009 at 19:07

Hi all, My wife and I are planning our first SE Asia backpack trip next year, very exciting - but also fairly terrifying! :-) We have a total of 6 weeks exactly. We hope to get a taste for Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam. We are landing in Bangkok on 7 Jan and booked into the Lamphu Treehouse hotel on our arrival for 3 nights. Splashing a bit above budget, but wanted a reasonably 'soft landing' in the region! :-) After 3 nights in Bangkok, we plan to do the following: - Bus to Aranyapr ...

Hilltribes?

Posted by MADMAC on 17/10/2009 at 21:05

Why is it that whenever anyone talks about ethnic groups outside the main they are always referred to as "hilltribes"? Even when they don't reside on hills? I never liked the word tribe as a descriptor for ethnic groups anyway. Nobody calls the Serbs a "Tribe", they're an ethnic group. Don't we have any "Plains Tribes" in SEA? ...
