Four budget backpackers need to know where to go... Will be arriving in bangkok on the 5th of May and flying out on the 6th of June, what would you recommend for the month, Was thinking: head to ankor watt and then down to the islands for some sea, beach huts and exploring, but what do you think. Also interested in less touristy places, where we'll get a real feel for the country, and any hints on travelling from place to place. Thanks ...

Best Route - 4 weeks in Thailand, Cambodia and poss. Vietnam

Posted by Xana on 13/3/2006 at 16:41

Hi, we are 2 teachers on August summer holidays and are planning to go to Thailand and Cambodia - and possibly take in Vietnam if we have time. We are both keen on diving (I have my Open Water and my friend wants to learn) so we would like to spend at least a week by the coast. Can anyone recommend a route that would make the most of our time? We are also a bit worried that it will be problematic visiting these 3 countries during a v. rainy period. Is this the case? Would we be better off vi ...

Hello to all....:) Travelling to Cambodia, (SR and PP) Vietnam, (HCMC, Hoi An, Hue, Hanoi) Laos (LP) and Thailand (CM and BKK) in April/May. Can you recommend nice, clean places to stay. Budget is $20 a night although am willing to spend a bit more if it has a nice location or views. Do I need to book these places in advance or can I just show up? Also is 7weeks enough time to see all these places or I should cut some places out? Thank you. ...

Question regarding TC’s for Thailand & Vietnam.

Posted by Louise73 on 20/2/2006 at 20:44

I am going to Thailand & Vietnam and I'm going to bring only TCs and to use Visa card for internal flights. I plan on bringing $2,600.00 in TCs - what denominations should I bring? What is the best amount to change at one time - some people have told me not to walk around with more than $100 worth of local currency. When I pay guest houses/hotels can I pay directly in TC’s or do I need to pay in local currency. I suppose then I can work out exactly what denominations to take. I wil ...

Hi everyone I'm in the middle planning a trip for next January. My original plan was to fly to Bangkok and spend time in Thailand, Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam. I'm planning on spending 6 weeks altogether in Asia, before travelling to Australia. I want to spend about 10 days - 2 weeks bumming around on a beach somewhere, so was looking at 4 weeks travelling. After reading another post, I've found that I'm probably not going to be able to fit all 4 countries into the 4 weeks, so should I ...
