4-5 Weeks SE Asia In August (Cambodia, Thailand & Myanmar)

Posted by alexaw52 on 14/4/2015 at 15:24

My 13 year old son and I will be traveling to SE Asia in August. The itinerary isn't even an itinerary yet. In very beginning stages of planning. I'm trying to see as much as we can without over-exhausting ourselves. Thought if we flew into Cambodia, then traveled to Thailand and up to Myanmar -- and fly home from there it would allow us to see all 3 locations. If we fly in and out of Bangkok -- I think it would probably be possible to only do 2 of the countries. A few questions -- I know we w ...

Transiting through Penang to get to Koh Samui question

Posted by markacino on 13/4/2015 at 23:52

Hey all.. first off, apologies if this has an answer somewhere, but I could not find it. So I am planning on flying AirAsia to Penang transiting in KL as is required. I then plan to jump on a Firefly flight straight to Koh Samui. I also realise there is probably better ways to make it to Koh Samui, but this seems to be the best balance of time and affordability. Usually I have more time overseas and just bus/ferry it into Samui, or wherever I happen to be headed. Now I know that when I land ...

Advice for our new Visa breakdown and scams website

Posted by clemworldwide on 8/4/2015 at 05:50

Hi all, as a group we have been living and travelling around SE Asia for four years now and have started a website (soon to become a full wiki) to help other travelers when they first come here before they know about the horror of crossing some borders, or just what to bring when you go to pick up your visa. I was hoping there would be some advice for us before we fully launch the site. The site is - it basically breaks down the tourist visas on arrival and in advance, with a ...

Posted by baylee29 on 2/4/2015 at 16:12

Hello there, My fiance and I will be heading to SEA for an extended honeymoon this summer (yay!). It will be our first time in SEA, and we are planning a 10-week tour based off of the 5-6-week regional itinerary suggested by Travelfish here. We would really love any advice/thoughts on our planned route from experienced SEA travelers. We are flexible, so if we get delayed due to weather/transportation or fall in love with a place we visit, we are happy to rejigger our itinerary as we go. The on ...

We have been travelling for just over two years non stop and are now hoping to do this on a budget of 7000AUD, is this possible for staying in private rooms in hostels for the most part? We would love to visit Hoi An, Halong Bay, The killing fields and the full moon in Koh Phangan. Also we were hoping to get the slowboat to LP and from Vietnam into Cambodia through the M ...

Soapbox: About China

Posted by somtam2000 on 25/3/2015 at 02:19

From our latest newsletter About China Much has been written over the last few months regarding Chinese tourists in Thailand. There's the story from the temple in the north that built separate toilets for them, stories of them drowning on the beaches of Phuket and in boat accidents heading to Ko Phi Phi , and Facebook has been awash in comments regarding their seeming inability to queue. The most recent outrage was set off by some photos taken on Maya Bay, Ko Phi Phi Leh (in southern Thai ...

hi, I will be travelling solo through South East Asia throughout April/March. I have a few days with my sister in Bangkok in mid April then I'm starting a tour 3 weeks later starting in Bangkok. During these 3 weeks I was either going to fly down to Phuket and then gradually make my way back up to Bangkok for the tour or fly to Hanoi and make my way down through Vietnam for 3 weeks. Which option is more doable. Is there a lot to see around Phuket and how easy is it for solo female travelle ...
