Travelling for around 4 months in south east Asia in August. Help please :)

Posted by Kingkong987 on 2/5/2016 at 15:19

Hi there, I'm going travelling at around the end of August for 4 months and it will most likely be solo travelling. I'm a little nervous but also very excited. I'm pretty well travelled and adaptable but I've never travelled by myself. My plan at the moment is to go to Thailand, Burma, Laos and possibly northern Vietnam too. The type of travelling I'm looking to do is one filled with culture and experiences. I am not looking to just party and visit the well-travelled areas. I'm looking for re ...

8 week itinerary advice - Thailand, Myanmar, Laos, Vietnam and Cambodia

Posted by vinny on 14/4/2016 at 12:13

Hello Guys, we are couple in our mid 20´s heading to SE Asia for our honey moon! We are used to travel here in Brazil, mainly to beach locations. So it will also be a new experience for us to be going to non-beach places. I know the concept of "less is more", but like I told you above, we usually travel to beach places, as we really like this. So I am a little bit affraid, we will get bored in some cities if I stay too long... We are interested in: - Local Culture, people and food ...

Laos vs. Cambodia for a short excursion

Hi everyone! I'm planning a 3 week trip to Thailand for next January with my beau. I know we could spend 3 full weeks in Thailand banging around, but while we're in the region it is so tempting to check out other countries. We are looking at both Laos and Cambodia as possibilities, but wanted to get some thoughts from other travellers about the major cities in these countries. Are there some must-see sites or huge advantages in going to one over the other? Is there anything you wish you had kno ...

Six Week South-East Asia Trip: Advice

Posted by cj2294 on 5/4/2016 at 18:28

Hello, I have a six-week trip planned with my girlfriend from 23 May until 4 July, starting and finishing in Bangkok. Were both in our early twenties, although not into the whole party scene, more interested in seeing some wildlife, temples, and key sites. I feel like I have done a fair bit of research, however, this is both our first 'extended' (more than a week) trip and neither of us has been to Asia before. I have drawn together my first plan and would welcome any comments/opinions. My mai ...

One place for 3-4months. seclusion with access to civilization. working on self, Help me choose plz

Posted by wkistler on 11/4/2016 at 06:15

I see a lot of requests for extensive itineraries for folks looking to see it all in a month. This one is different. I'm seeking some solace for a few months to work on myself, read, meditate and become a better human, and leave wherever I go better than how I found it, in whatever way is allowed by my Visa. I could do this in the States, or anywhere really. But it's also an opportunity to see a part of the world and a culture I've never experienced before. For many of us these opportunities ...

Hi all, We are a family with 2 children (age 5 and 10 years). We are looking to spend 3 weeks in Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia in June. We enjoy small towns over big cities and ethical interactions with nature and wildlife. Our budget is mid range and we are willing to take short flights to save time. We are experienced travellers in the Asian region having travelled extensively in the past 7 months. This is a very broad question but what route should we take and where should we go? I realiz ...

4 Weeks in SE Asia

Posted by SoCalDude on 9/3/2016 at 00:03

Hi, I'm planning on traveling to SE Asia with a few friends for roughly 4 weeks (Mid-May --> Mid-June) and wanted some advice. We are most interested in Thailand, Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam, but understand that four countries will be too much ground to cover. What is a recommended itinerary for 4 weeks in that region, with no particular preference on country or type of experience? Also, is this sample itinerary too ambitious for our time frame? Thanks! Bangkok to Siem Reap, Cambodia to Ph ...
