I'd love any insight on planning out my upcoming late October-mid November SE Asia trip. I'll be heading out solo and I really want to focuse on culture/nature/food as opposed to the big city party scene. I snagged a really great flight deal that has me flying into Bangkok and out of Ho Chi Minh, which at first i thought would be plenty of time to do both countries....but... after further research definitely not. I'd love to get thoughts on best itinerary for that time span. My plan so ...
My partner and I are planning on traveling to SE Asia this November for a couple months. Our ideal experience would involve witnessing lots of wildlife, hunting/trapping and foraging, and interacting with locals who also hunt/trap/forage for subsistence. We're not the kind of travelers who care about restaurants, temples, bars, partying, etc. Would rather spend as little time as possible in the cities. We both have experience with backpacking and wilderness skills in the United States, and are p ...
Hi travelfish community,
My boyfriend and I are setting out for 4.5 months in Southeast Asia from September. At the moment our loose itinerary is as follows:
September (3 weeks): ??
October/November (9 weeks): Northern Thailand / Cambodia / Laos / Vietnam
December (2.5 weeks): Philippines
For September we're tossing up between Malaysia or Southern Thailand and that's where I'd appreciate your advice and opinions.
More about us:
- Experienced travelers in our late 20s. This is our first signif ...
For my next trip (early 2018) I am going to stay nine to ten weeks in the Palolem area of South Goa, India. Possibly Palolem itself, but more likely Patnem or Agonda. They're all so close anyway it hardly makes a difference!
It would be good to already be in touch with people round and about, and if we click perhaps travel together to other bits of India.
Over the years I've spent a lot of time in India, doing the backpack slog, and have covered much of the area from the bottom of Tamil Nadu ...
Please help! I am a 25 year old female and this is my first time backpacking - I hope to be going with a female friend of the same age.
I want to leave in October, and will have ~£6000 to spend post flights (no diving). I think this should give me about 6 months of travelling. I want to see as much of SE Asia as I can but not to rush it. I am not fussed about going to Singapore & think timor-Leste will be too risky? I want to go to Indonesia, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Philippines, Thailand ...
Actually, I posted in the forum to ask suggestions about Laos trip but I have some changes in the trip because I have more time for traveling about 1 month, so I want to visit Southeast Asia including Laos. I intend to spend one month for my vacation in South East Asia in March - April. I consider some countries including Cambodia, Laos, Thailand and Vietnam. I know that perhaps one month is not enough to cover all the tourist destinations in these countries. I am trying to plan for my ...
Myself and my girlfriend will be going to Southeast Asia for 6 months in September.
We super excited and just now looking at visa's. We will be flying into Singapore and flying back to the UK from Cambodia, these flights are already booked. We will travelling to:
We will not be spending more than 30 days in each country and have looked online on the visa's needed but getting different info on each. The main issue we have is that for t ...
My friends and I have two weeks to travel in one of these countries at the end of June/start of July. It will be our first time in SE Asia but are all seasoned travelers. We're looking for a mix of adventure and beach. My biggest concern is rainy season as it seems very localized in each country. Does anyone have recommendations on which country/regions to focus our travels in to avoid bad weather?
Hi Everyone! My boyfriend and I plan to travel to Southeast Asia from the US in September or October 2017 for about 10 days. I would LOVE to visit both Vietnam and Thailand, but realize that is not enough time to fully enjoy both.
We are thinking about choosing one or two towns in either country for adventure/sightseeing/history and then traveling to a beach or island for some water activity and relaxation. While I have experience traveling in Southeast Asia and want to see the authentic cultur ...
I have 6-8 months around S.E.A planned and I am pumped! First time backpacking, solo, all that good stuff.
And what sort of budding backpacker would I be without itinerary paranoia! Here's what I've put together just based on what I've seen in regards to weather, high low seasons, expensiveness etc..
Indonesia - September
Thailand - October
Cambodia - November
Vietnam - December
Laos - January
Myanmar - February
Philippines - March ???
I am in no way attached to this plan ...
Hello! I have 13 days to spend in Southeast Asia in the beginning of August. Two 30 year-old friends traveling together. I am coming from the US and my friend is coming from Bali, and we are looking for the best way to spend our time (so not Bali since my friend will already be there). I understand this time of year can be quite rainy in some areas so I'm looking for your advice. If you are someone who is VERY familiar with SE Asia, where would you go if it was you during this time period? ...
I am planning a trip to Southeast Asia for next year around June time for approx. 10 weeks and was hoping for some advice on the route / activities etc.
I will be going with 1 mate of mine and maybe another, we are interested in nature a lot so lots of great high-point views and national parks, but then we want the nightlife as well, especially in thailand as well as culture and history.
Please let me know for any advice on how long we should spend in each place.
- fly to Hanoi ...
I am from Malaysia and I am planning to have a backpack trip from August 2017 onwards till January of 2018 for couple of months (4-5 months).
My initial plan is to start with Vietnam south (HCMC) > Vietnam Central then road trip to Cambodia then back to Vietnam Central to the south > then Laos> ChiangMai> Thailand BKK (last stop perhaps ) Do you think this is a good plan for road trip?
As I have been to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh previously, so I may skip Hanoi this time and HCMC ...
Hi there! My boyfriend and I will be traveling around SE Asia for 2 weeks in July. We have a sample itinerary but are not sure if it's doable with the amount of time that we have, and if we're hitting the right spots. We are in our 30's and aren't really into the party scene, but would like to go out for a casual drink some nights. We'd like a mix of city, nature, beach, temples and villages during our trip. Another thing to consider is that I have mobility limitations, meaning I have a tough ti ...
I will be heading to Laos from Chiang Rai next week and staying for 1 month.
I'm just abit stuck on how best to plan my route.
I like traveling quite slow so I was thinking to spend my time in North Laos and head over to Vietnam overland. Then head down Vietnam into Cambodia. I'll then head back to Thailand to meet my friends at the end of July.
I also had the idea to maybe go from north Laos down south and into Cambodia overland then head to Vietnam overland, make my way up north ...
Hey! After Thailand I was headed to Cambodia. Famous for it's Ankor Wat temple complex, it also is home to a pretty great Island called Koh Rong, one of a few places where you can swim with phosphorescent plankton at night! I tried to squeeze it all in under a minute again
Hello, my boyfriend and I are planning to travel to South East Asia for the first time in Mid-October/November. We would like to spend 3 weeks enjoying nature, beaches, culture and good food. We don't want to stress ourselves traveling from one place to the other every few days, so ideally we travel to no more than 3 or 4 locations and from there do so some day trips. Although this might be hard on certain locations, we would like to avoid as much as possible very touristic and crowded areas.
I'll be travelling through SE Asia starting in July and have the following rough itinerary:
July - Indonesia
August - Philipines
September - Vietnam
October - Laos
November - Cambodia
December - Thailand
I don't really want to plan too much, and the above schedule is flexible, but does anyone have any tips/suggestions on this route before I book a one way flight to Jakarta. First time solo travelling, 29 year old male.
The main reason I've chosen this route is to get as much good wea ...
