I am all over the place confused at the moment of how to approach this so any suggestions or rough itineraries people could suggest would be so helpful. My though was t ...

SE Asia in ~7 weeks, what would you change?

Posted by Agriff on 25/9/2013 at 23:05

My partner and I are going to be heading back to the States after a year in Korea, but first we're stopping off in SE Asia! I think we have our itinerary hammered out, but is there anything you would change? We're on a budget of about $1,800 each. Two disclaimers: 1) She studied abroad with Chiang Mai as a base about 4 years ago, and so she has a TON that she wants to show me. 2) We considered the islands, but we're concerned about how touristy they are and budgetary concerns. So the plan as ...

Vino!

Posted by bmovieneil on 27/9/2013 at 07:04

Hi all - i was just wondering if anyone had experience of what the wine situation is in SE Asian countries? I will quite happily sup away at any old beverage but my wife does enjoy a glass of vino so I was wondering how widely available it is, whether it is any good and if it is majorly costly to drink? We travelled around India a few years ago and lets just say we didn't find it to be the greatest wine country in the world... ...

Hello all, I am in the final stages of planning my first trip to SE Asia this December/January (with husband). We have travelled before but are very excited to be seeing Thailand, Laos, and Cambodia on this 4 week trip. Given the limited time, we have concentrated on the things we would most like to see (personally more into temples, countryside, and quiet beaches than cities and nightlife). Definitely not enough time, esp. in Bangkok but that's such a useful hub we'll be sure to be there agai ...

Question about soccer games on TV

Posted by roro1990 on 23/9/2013 at 11:03

I know the purists here might say "why are you going to travel all the way to SE Asia just to experience the same things as at home" But anyway, I can't help but loving soccer (Manchester United is my team) so i'm just wondering if I was to find myself in a bar in most parts of SE Asia (thailand, Laos, cambodia), what are the chances that they'd be showing soccer there? I'm not gonna go actively look for places to show it, or spend lots of time watching it, but if I happen to be in a b ...
