Hi Everyone, I'm completely new to the backpacking world, after putting it off for years and constantly dreaming of going travelling. So I'm looking at finally doing it in July/Aug this year in the summer break. I need some advice of where to travel. From scouring the forums I've seen that Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam might be a good idea for squeezing into a 1.5 month trip, but am open to all suggestions. Also money wise - I have no idea how much I will need to save? Will be travelling from Lo ...

Some background: 3rd trip to Asia with myhusband and parents (we are mid-30's and my parents are mid-60's). Last two trips were Thailand and we are moving on now to a tripcovering Cambodia, Vietnam and maybe Laos. The last trip to Thailand we took we researched alot on TA and posted a lot! Ouritineraries tend to be adventurous and we heard a few times that we couldn'tfit all we wanted in a 17/19 day trip doing Northern and Southern Thailand andwe feel that we did just fine without compromising ...

5 weeks of travel that includes the Philippines - please help me plan an itinerary!

Posted by cguzzy on 17/12/2013 at 12:48

Hi there! I will finally have the chance to travel to Asia in 2014 for about 4-6 weeks and I'm really excited! I've been looking up different travel itineraries that span over 5 weeks for inspiration, but it's difficult to find one that includes the Philippines. I suppose my circumstances are a little different, I shall explain: I am Filipino but born in Canada, so I've only been once when I was young, with my parents. Next March, a family member will be turning 90 and some of my family member ...

Looking for honeymoon beach!

Posted by Jcohen05 on 25/9/2013 at 19:00

My husband and I are heading to Southeast Asia for our honeymoon in Nov/Dec. We would like to spend a couple weeks on the beach and are trying to decide which beach/island region would be the best for us. We would like to get off the beaten path and away from the crowds, but it is our honeymoon, so we'd like to have nicer accommodations for at least a week. We like to snorkel, hike, surf, climb and love food. We have heard Thailand is nice but touristy. Has anyone been to the beaches/islands ...

I guess food is pretty cheap everywhere.Cambodia is probably the easiest in terms of visas.Thailand has the best infrastrucutre but not so cheap anymore specially when you want to be close to the beach. Any ideas? ...

Hey Everyone, My name is Seven Ten and I am currentlyin Hong Kong. I love this place, but it's time for me to move on to S.E. Asia! I'm debating whether to fly to Thailandor Vietnam first... On 11/18, Monday, the plane ticket to Hanoi , Vietnam via Kayak is ~250. I chose Hanoi because I want tostart from the North and make my way down South. On the same date, flying into Bangkokwould be much cheaper, ~150. Normally I would go with the cheaperalternative, but I'm thinking that it will be eas ...

i'm spending just over two months in SEA ( whizzing through Laos and Cambodia, and trying to get a good feel for Vietnam and Thailand), and want to know what routes I should go by train/bus/plane/boat. Money isn't tight, but I also want to train when it adds to the experience(scenery and such). My time is a little more precious, but not strict. I'm also a solo female traveler, so any suggestions based on safety are appreciated. And if you have advice on this routes based on visa requirements i' ...

I'm look for advice and insights on studying martial arts in Asia. I plan to come to Asia in Sept (preferably somewhere warm by a beach) to study martial arts for 3 months. I have not picked a location or type of art yet. I'm trying to find a form of art that is more spiritual (I admire ancient ways of life similar to the samurai & yoga practices) but still allows me to defend myself (ideally without breaking bones). ...
