Hi all - i was just wondering if anyone had experience of what the wine situation is in SE Asian countries? I will quite happily sup away at any old beverage but my wife does enjoy a glass of vino so I was wondering how widely available it is, whether it is any good and if it is majorly costly to drink? We travelled around India a few years ago and lets just say we didn't find it to be the greatest wine country in the world... ...

First-time post after reading many useful topics here! Itinerary review?

Posted by Waihekedreams on 27/9/2013 at 05:24

Hello all, I am in the final stages of planning my first trip to SE Asia this December/January (with husband). We have travelled before but are very excited to be seeing Thailand, Laos, and Cambodia on this 4 week trip. Given the limited time, we have concentrated on the things we would most like to see (personally more into temples, countryside, and quiet beaches than cities and nightlife). Definitely not enough time, esp. in Bangkok but that's such a useful hub we'll be sure to be there agai ...

Question about soccer games on TV

Posted by roro1990 on 23/9/2013 at 11:03

I know the purists here might say "why are you going to travel all the way to SE Asia just to experience the same things as at home" But anyway, I can't help but loving soccer (Manchester United is my team) so i'm just wondering if I was to find myself in a bar in most parts of SE Asia (thailand, Laos, cambodia), what are the chances that they'd be showing soccer there? I'm not gonna go actively look for places to show it, or spend lots of time watching it, but if I happen to be in a b ...

Somewhere in South East Asia to recover from foot fracture?

Posted by Chey on 14/9/2013 at 13:03

Hi, My sabbatical leave is starting in mid October. However, I managed to get a comminuted fracture on my foot which I was told would take two months to recover. Even though I should be off the aircast beginning of October, I was told to take it easy till end of the month. Since my company is unwilling to push back the start date of my sabbatical leave, I was thinking of going to South East Asia in mid October as planned and maybe sit on a beach or somewhere relaxing for two weeks. Can someone p ...

I knew I had to get vaccinations for the trip but i've been very busy the last few weeks and completely forgot about them!! I heard that you need to get vaccinations 4 or 5 weeks in advance and I just googled it and it seems I need a lot of vaccinations. Hi, Myself and a friend are planning a 3 week (max time we can take off work) trip and hope to visit Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam next April/May. From reading other posts I feel this may be ambitious for the time we have. Things at the moment are very vague of what we would like to do, but so far include Angkor Wat temples/Siem Reap, we would like to visit a wildlife/rescue centre and interact with the animals. The usual 'tourist' stuff ride an elephant, feed a tiger cub etc. We'd also li ...
