From Malaysia/Singapore we want to visit Borneo, most/all of the Indonesian islands and the Philippines, before ending up in Australia/New Zealand. What is the best route to take in regards to ease/money? We want to avoid air travel as much as possible. Thanks in advance for your help. ...

4 Weeks in Thailand, Laos, Cambodia - Critique my Itinerary!

Posted by guyincognito on 25/2/2013 at 22:22

I'm planning a four week trip to SE Asia for our Honeymoon in Oct-Nov. This is the first time we've gotten anything close to four weeks straight for travel, and I don't think it will happen again for a long time. Since this may be our only opportunity for a while, I've been wrestling between seeing a few places but getting to spend a lot of time at each, or seeing a medium number of places but only being able to spend a medium amount of time at each. Right now I think the plan I have leans tow ...

Hi I'm trying to plan my first solo-backpacking trip about 2-3months long ( or as long as money will allow) and would greatly appreciate any advice/info I've never been to se Asia but hear its a great place to start solo traveling, I'm looking for this to be more of an cultural experience than a drunken memorie, lol Sry about any miss- spelling, I'm very bad at that... Lol I'm curious about: 1) how much the trip would cost ( not including airfare, visa, vaccinations) 2) how to communicate? ( ...

Ho Chi Minh to Phnom Penh by boat

Posted by johannal on 27/2/2013 at 11:49

I'm planning a trip to Southeast Asia in April, and I need some advice concering how to get from Ho Chi Minh to Phnom Penh. I would really like to take a boat a part of the way and spend one or two nights (on a floating hotel, if possible!) on the travel. Is taking a bus to Chau Doc and catch a boat there the best solution? Is it possible to buy one ticket for the whole trip? And do you have a travel agency to recomend? Thanks! ...

Hello all, My boyfriend and I are currently in Pai, Thailand and are reviewing our itinerary with some new possibilities in mind. Our original plan was to head over to Cambodia, then to VIetnam and finally to Laos (spending about a month in each country) before heading to Australia (working holiday visa). 5 Weeks Itinerary for Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, and Cambodia - Help?!

Posted by bootshike on 14/6/2012 at 22:30

Hi Everyone, I am planning a trip for 5 weeks for Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, and Cambodia at the end of December and for the month of January 2013. After doing some research, I have a general plan, but I'm sure it needs tweaking. I am interested in seeing a few temples and some pretty scenery. I don't think I have time for trekking, and I'm willing to make that sacrifice. Should I cut out the slow boat? That would save me three days. Where would you add these days to? Thanks to anyone who replies ...

Hi, I appreciate that a lot of people post similar topics all the time, so thanks in advance for any advice you might be able to give. My friend and I are travelling to Southeast Asia from mid-April to the first week of June (6 weeks), and apart from flights to and from Bangkok, nothing else has been decided. We had originally planned to travel from Bangkok into Siem Reap, into Laos working north, flying over to Vietnam and working south before flying back to Bangkok. After reading around, we ...

Pai to Siem Reap in 7 Days -- Go Through Laos or...?

Posted by pbzvariety on 12/2/2013 at 05:33

Oh hi there, thanks for clicking. OK, I've got a lot of time or just a little, depending on how you look at it. I must be in Siem Reap on Feb 19 to see Angkor Wat, and I am now in Pai. What would you do? Because I'm interested in meeting real people and having "real" experiences here with natives, as opposed to further hanging out with guys/gals with mustache-print tank tops and buzz cuts or fake dreads, so far I'm thinking, A) Laos Somehow make it to the border and take 5 day ...

From reading other posts in forums I think the general consensus is to plan less and try not squeeze too many places in. I do, however, have a rough idea of an itintery and was wonderi ...

I'm spending roughly 5-6 months going through Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand and Burma. Hi, Me and a mate are looking to go travelling around SE Asia. We want to take in all the usual countries - Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Malaysia, Singapore - and then probably move on to Australia and New Zealand (To hopefully stay and work for a while to fund more travels to Japan/Hong Kong/Beijing). As soon as we have enough money we will go, but we're looking at towards the end of 2013. We have done a fair bit of research (nowhere near the amount I expect is needed) so thought it might be ...
