North Korea Situation and Thailand/Laos/Cambodia?

Posted by jennigun on 10/4/2013 at 11:34

I will be in Thailand, Laos, and Cambodia from late April until late June. Do you think I should be concerned about the situation in North Korea? I obviously care about what is going on in a global sense, but should I be concerned for my safety? How are relations between Thailand and North Korea? ...

Two months itinerary including Myanmar

Posted by bcking on 9/4/2013 at 02:26

Hello! I have done a fair amount of research, but I have a somewhat confusing situation for travelling in SE Asia. I will be studying in Bangkok for three months and then have a few months to myself. From Bangkok I believe we will be going to northern Thailand for about 9 days, and we will have weekends to explore Bangkok and other parts of Thailand. I know for sure we will be going to Koh Samet for a bit of beach time. Other than that it's just weekend trips during the semester. For the backp ...

Intro Itinerary Advice

Posted by azular on 5/4/2013 at 23:43

I'm planning a first trip, with backpack, to Asia for next winter and will only have close to a month to travel. I've traveled enough to know it's a bad idea to rush around / country count, and have read this is especially true in SE Asia, but I am hoping for a good "overview" trip which hits some key places while allowing for enough time in each spot to not feel too rushed. The following itinerary is more like a sketch / initial draft. I don't want to have a set-in-stone plan. Does ...

Burma / Myanmar or Laos ?

I will be going to SEA at next december for between 3 and 4 weeks. Having never been there I'm not sure where to go. Some time will be spent at the beginning of the trip in Thailand (a couple of days in Bangkok and then a couple of days at the end at the beach to wind down the trip). Otherwise I am trying to decide between countries. I am very much aware I may be rushing too much but I also know that I will not get back to SEA for a long time so need to find a balance. Thinking about the fol ...

SE Asia - 8 Week Itinerary (First Time Visitor)

Posted by travelingalpaca on 3/4/2013 at 13:24

Hello! I have never traveled to SE Asia, but I'm planning a solo trip there for July and August, where I'd like to spend roughly eight weeks - a majority of which will probably be spent in Thailand. I'm trying to plan a fairly relaxed paced trip and not include too much, as I don't want to be rushing around the entire time. I'm also trying to mix in some volunteer work along the journey. Here's what I'm thinking about so far. Please let me know if this makes sense/if I'm planning too much time i ...

Anyone interested in buying a credit on Air Asia for immediate use?

I am so annoyed with Air Asia. A cancelled flight with them means I have $300+ worth of credit on their airlines that I cannot get a refund for. Is anyone interested in purchasing it? I would sell it for half price and I can email them the name of the passenger(s). it can also be used for multiple flights. Thanks! ...

6-8 weeks in South East Asia - Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand

Posted by mjbeavis on 13/9/2010 at 19:11

Hi All, My partner and I are looking at doing 6-8 weeks in South East Asia. We know we will be heading over in the Monsoon season but because of our timing we are prepared for this. Our main issue is weather to go alone or to join a tour/overland group? We know it will be more expensive to do this via a overland tour, but because we are only there for a short amount of time and having an itinerary prepared for us will make things alot easier. Right? Or are there enough resources to allow you to ...

2 SE Asia questions

Posted by federer_fan_456 on 23/3/2013 at 20:34

Firstly I am planning a 2-3 month trip, I am thinking about going to Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand & Vietnam spending about 2 weeks in each 7 countries. I have excluded Burma, Singapore, Brunei & East Timor as they don't seem all that interesting. Is this enough time to spend in each country to see a fair amount of things? Secondly, would 6000 (USD) be enough for flights (departing & returning from Australia, food, accommodation & spending ...

Bus scam from Laos to Phnom Penh SORYA TRANSPORT

Posted by antifa7 on 22/3/2013 at 00:49

Hi all, I live in Phnom Penh in the Toul Kork district. This place is practically a suburb of Phnom Penh, about 10km into the main tourist/backpacker areas. The streets are laid out in a spoke and wheel pattern and it is easy to get turned around and confused about where exactly you are. As well, once you reach my neighborhood, you can no longer see the skyscrapers and it is easy to not know what direction is town. For the past week, I've been seeing dozens of backpackers wandering my neighb ...

Planning a trip to SEA and have some questions

I've recently decided to quit my job and go travelling in SEA. I was wondering if anyone had any advice on things like the best places to go, where to avoid, etc.. and just general tips on travelling as this is the first time I'll be doing something like this so I've no idea where to start planning. A few questions I have off the top of my head: I'm thinking I just get a one way ticket out to somewhere and then just go from hostel to hostel from there? Is that how it works? How much money wou ...

South East Asia - September until Christmas - any advice please?

Hi guys, My girlfriend and I are planning to do some backpacking around South East Asia from the middle of September this year until around christmas time - so for roughly three months. We will have approx £5000 spend plus flights between us. I am 32 years old and my girlfriend is 26, and so we are not really looking for the party scene as such. What we are looking for is to get immersed in some culture, see some amazing sights, great beaches, food etc. We like the look of the Phillipines and ...
