Advise on 5 month SEA plan

Posted by ec2011 on 14/10/2012 at 11:57

Hi Everyone, My partner and I are thinking of going to SEA March 2014 for 20 weeks. We are volunteering in Nepal for 4 weeks and then considering the following itinerary; 2 further weeks in Nepal 3 weeks in Tibet 2 weeks in China 2 weeks in Thailand 1 week in Laos 1-2 weeks in Vietnam 1-2 weeks in Cambodia 1 week in Borneo Does that all sound do-able? We are both in our late 20s so aren't really looking for a 5 month long party! We are quite happy, in fact happier, to take the road less trav ...

Posted by dagi_jagi on 24/10/2012 at 08:49

Hi all, I need your advice. With my boyfriend we aregoing to have some kind of gap half year. Starting 5/12 from BKK. We have somedoubts about our route. So many options to choose, each has pros and cons.Especially weather factor. Is it too cold for mountains in Decmber? (northVietnam and north Laos)? Or in December/January it's not worth to go to Borneo/Indonsesia because of weather? We plan to spend 3-4weeks per country. Any tips are more than welcome. Waiting for your feedback. Option 1: ...

Itinerary help - best way to get to Phuket in the end

Posted by affgomes on 16/10/2012 at 12:39

I'm on the road - Ayuthaya - with 6.5 weeks to go. On the way to Chiang Mai tomorrow and then want to see Laos ( LP and Vientiane at least) plus Vietnam and Cambodja( Angkor Wat and Phnom Penh) to keep it short. My issue at the moment is that we want to have a week in Phuket at the end of the trip , flying then to HK and back to London on the 13th of December. Already we have been going a lot slower than I anticipated..an extra day at Kanchanaburi, an extra day at Ayutthaya etc bu ...

Hi all, I have been reading numerous posts on this site in order to collate this itinerary that my girlfriend and I hope to follow (roughly) starting in March. We have left 10 days at the end in case we stay longer at certain places and also my girlfriend is keen to go to Hong Kong and go to Disneyland, I would not say no to going to a horse race meet at Hong Kong. We have tried not to rush things too much and allow enough time for travel, especially within Laos, and also we have tried to spli ...

Hi all, I am leaving in two weeks for three weeks in SEA. I start in Vietnam and will be in Hanoi and Hoi An from Nov 1 to Nov 7. After that I am up in the air. Originally I wanted to go to Mekong Delta and explore but now I think I should just head on to Siem Reap for a couple of days and then on to Thailand and try to spend more time there. I am thinking the following: Nov 1-7 Vietnam Nov7-10 Siem reap Nov 10-16 Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai Nov16-20 Bangkok thoughts? Should I go to Nh ...

SE Asia - 3 weeks?

Posted by Undisclosed on 10/10/2012 at 17:18

Hello, I would really appreciate some feedback. Planning to go to SE Asia for 3 weeks next Nov (super early planning I know, I need something to look forward to!). Laos and Cambodia are musts, otherwise we would also be keen on Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam. Keen to do some long walks, and general things (appreaciating the culture, nature etc) that aren't too touristy. But at the same time we are both a bit safety concious and cautious (not sure how to say this, perhaps easier out of our comfo ...

How long should I spend travelling SEA?

Posted by maabee on 14/10/2012 at 06:51

Hi All! I've saved up enough to travel SEA for a year (on a budget!) but was wondering if I should instead cut my time down to maybe around 6 months or less? I could then travel Eastern Europe or Central/South America as well for a few months instead. I'm just wondering if after a few months in SEA I'll be starting to wish I had took the chance to visit some where else. I'm happy to go at a slow pace as time isn't an issue, hopefully I should visit the whole of SEA except maybe the Philippines ...

Hi everyone, I am going to Ghana for a nursing practicum until the end of May and then plan to continue on to SEA for June and possible July with a friend. I am researching itineraries and trying to work out a tentative plan but I am getting overwhelmed with blogs about weather seasons, safety concerns, and the number of places to explore. I am interested primarily in nature, historical sites, and local life but with a taste of faster-paced towns mixed in. I am happy to stay in hostels and eat a ...

Nature and best outdoor activities

Hey! I'm currently travelling in Thailand and at the 3rd week of a 3 month trip before heading onto New Zealand for 2 months. I'm thinking this area of the world may not be for me... I'm not such a big fan of Thai cities and urban areas, BUT did really enjoyed my overnight treks in the jungle and the elephant park. So I want to now base my trip around seeing as much nature, stunning scenery, wilderness and doing lots of trekking and outdoor activities (without breaking the bank). Knowing this, ...

Hello and thanks in advance! A friend and I are looking to arrive in Saigon around the 8th of Feb 2013 (give or take a day or 2), and fly out of Bangkok early March - around 3 weeks total. We'd like to head west from HCMC, backpacking and staying in hostels or super cheap bungalows. Mostly looking for mellow beaches and not a huge party scene, and would also like to perhaps see Angkor Wat, spend some time on Ko Chang Noi, and get to some incredible Thai beaches during that time. There's so muc ...
