Beaches in October

Posted by Spuck on 20/4/2012 at 04:21

Hi Fishies, Wondering if anyone has had experience with Beaches in the S E Asia region in October? We're doing a trip around Thailand, Cambodia and Malaysia but want to sneak a beach trip in, reading all kinds of conflicting advice. For example, SEA on a shoestring (Lonely Planet) reckons Perhentians are fine in October, but lots of accommodation websites (who should be better informed?) state they're mostly closed for monsoon season. Other places we've looked at include Sihanoukville, Ko Phi ...

4000 Islands, Beaches in Cambodia, or Beaches in Vietnam?

Posted by ekumbier on 26/4/2012 at 04:39

My girlfriend and I are traveling in Southeast Asia right now. We have heard great things about 4,000 Islands in Laos and the islands off the coast of Sihanoukville. We fly out of Hanoi on June 15th and plan to visit northern Laos, Siem Reap, and go up the coast of Vietnam. I was wondering where a good place to be to kick back and relax for a few days. Would early wet season/hot season affect our experience in 4,000 Islands? I've read that Cambodia's wet season really picks up later in th ...

Hi everyone, My boyfriend and I have decided to take this last minute trip and spend two weeks in South Vietnam and Cambodia. However, we only have around two weeks and I think I am wanting to see too many places. Below is a kind of ideal itinerary, do you think it's too much to cram into 16 days? We can be flexible by a couple of days (still about to book the flights) and we are trying to keep the budget low so will be using river or overland transport (I am more than happy to watch the sce ...

Some general advice for 1-2 week trip

Posted by galois on 29/4/2012 at 09:00

Found this website a few days ago, what a great resource! So, I'll be in Hong Kong for a conference in December and I'm planning to spend 10-15 days traveling around SE asia afterward, on my own. I'm interested in seeing "authentic" places which have not (yet) been completely overrun by tourism. I'm not especially interested in beaches, unless the scenery is stunning. I'm into hiking/cycling. I don't mind roughing it out a bit but would prefer a minimal level of comfort. Given I don' ...

We're interested in the historical aspects of the countries as well as the highlights and a bit of fun! We fly into & out of BKK so trying to do a loop from there involving Cambodia ( Siem Reap & Phnom ...
