Posted by SebastianX on 5/9/2011 at 23:47

hey guys, i need some tipps for my short 3.5-week itinerary. i focused on some of the major destinations with some must-see places: laos - especially luang prabang (LP), ha long bay, angkor wat and some beaches. i planned to start in vientiane around nov. 25th and i will be travelling alone - unfortunately, so if anybody is interested to join, that would be great! for (almost) each destination i tried to add at least 0.5 day for simply resting... 1. vientiane: arrival in late evening, stayin ...

Route help & having to book outward flights in advance

Posted by smellmycoffee on 5/9/2011 at 01:56

Some background first - Planning a four month(ish) trip around SE Asia with my boyfriend for 2013 (does this seem really early to be planning? I feel I need to get everything sorted now to be able to know how much money we need!) I'm having some trouble deciding on the best route to take, I keep thinking I've almost got it, but then it turns out there are no direct flights between certain places or the flight is costing £200 so I have to scrap it and take a different way! I'm finding it especi ...

Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos - Order of Travel

Posted by lizzie501 on 30/8/2011 at 19:13

Hi all I'm heading to Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos for December and January. Any advice on which order to do things? The travelfish itinerary goes south through Laos and Cambodia, then north up the coast of Vietnam. Any reason why we should do it this way rather than work down through Vietnam and up through Cambodia finishing in Laos? We'll be flying from the UK to Asia and out to Brisbane afterwards so have flexibility in what airport we fly to and from. ...

Will be heading to SE Asia in june for 6 months of travel, and will be visiting Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia and Indonesia. I will be putting all my money onto a visa card for the trip and using that to withdraw money each week to last both myself and my g.f for the week. Can someone please tell me are there any restrictions on the amount you can withdraw in one transaction in ATM's over there? Basically I plan on withdrawing the equivalent of €500 at the start of every week to last us ...

SEA in April - HELP please

Hi, guys! Next year I have month's long vacation (a big deal for me) and would be happy to build some weather- and itinerary- reasonable plan , if it possible at all this time of the year. It would be convenient to spend a week in Thailand on the beach , but I would like to see something else, too: another country(ies), another nature, temples etc., even if it is on the beaten track - good enough for first timer. So - some places in Laos? Cambodia? Burma? Vietnam? I feel really lost (mostly beca ...

Hello! I have a packing query for you all... I'm doing a 4 month trip throughout SE Asia and will be spending some time hiking/treking in northern Vietnam and outside of the Chiang Mai area...also some hiking in Burma. I'll be in that region of the world late Sept/Oct/Nov. Would you suggest a light coat such as a fleece lined wind shell? I'm debating it's use right now as I sit in Japan's hottest prefecture drenched in sweat. Suggestions on warmth necessities appreciated! Thank you! ...

So I'm planning to go to the Full Moon Party on August 14 and am trying to figure out how quickly I can get from Hanoi to Ko Pha Ngan , in one day if possible. On August 13 (one day before the party) using Air Asia I know I can fly from Hanoi to Bangkok and get it at around 11am. From Bangkok I can fly into Surat Thani arriving at 3:30pm. My question is how to get from Surat Thani to Ko Pha Ngan after 3:30pm. I've been researching this but havent found anything concrete saying I can do it ...

My plan so far is to fly into Bangkok & visit the Similan Islands on a liveaboard for a few days & then check out Ko Raya Island too. Would you recommend Ko Raya? I don’t know very much about it so if anybody can recommend any more islands close by that are worth visiting that would really help too. I’ve already done Koh Tao, Phi Phi, Samui & would like to visit some different places! ...

3 month route through Thailand/Vietnam/Cambodia/Laos - constructive criticism wanted!

Hi all, My wife and I are fortunate enough to have nabbed 3 months off our respective jobs from the end of September this year through to Christmas which we're going to spend going through Thailand, Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam. Having read most of travelfish, sketched out a route on a map and tried to avoid retracing our steps as much as possible, I think we're getting close to something sensible. Would appreciate any comments - at the moment I think we'll aim to spend about 1 month in each of ...
