Cycling trip in Flores

Posted by Mirresmirre88 on 14/2/2017 at 23:53

Hi everyone! Was hoping to get some advice for my upcoming trip. This April I'll have three weeks to cycle Flores or parts of it. I'd also like to combine the cycling with some diving and volcano trekking. Has anyone got some tips for a rough itinerary? Do you know a place to hire a mountain bike in Flores? I'll have to catch at least three flights to reach the island and I'm guessing transporting a bicycle would be rather costly. Also, are the road conditions tolerable? Any advice is highly ...

How long/best way to explore Kuta Lombok area beaches

Posted by MFLM2017 on 14/2/2017 at 07:45

Hi there My partner and I will be travelling from Java to Lombok in April. We're looking at having 1 or 2 whole days around the Kuta area before we head north to the Gilis. We land late in the evening but aren't sure whether to spend all of the following day and night in the area, or have two whole days and 2 nights before heading up to the Gilis. we're not surfers but do love spending time walking and relaxing on the beach as well as swimming and eating/drinking at some nice places. I'd b ...

1 week in southern Indonesia - Ideas?

Posted by mikeilowry on 9/2/2017 at 09:28

Hi guys, I'm new to this forum. I'm a geologist doing 5 weeks of research across southern Indonesia. I'll probably be spending most of my time in coastal villages and beaches around Yogya, Bali, Lombok and Timor. After the research is over, I have about a week in the beginning of August to do whatever I want before heading up to Vietnam. I know for sure that I'll want to visit Komodo for a day or two, and my flight to Vietnam leaves from Denpasar, but I'm having trouble deciding what else to ...

Indonesia in March

Posted by ashleymish on 18/12/2016 at 20:58

Hi All! We are planning our 'flashpacking honeymoon' - 3 weeks in Indonesia starting early March, I have a semi-rough outline right now, we fly into Denpasar -> Bali (seminyak, ubud, sideman), maybe Gili islands (deciding which one(s)) and then still deciding from there. We aren't planning on heading towards Jakarta right now. What is the best way to get between these cities? Within Bali how is the transportation? Would a taxi take us or would I be looking at buying bus tickets? I'm re ...

12 weeks in Indonesia - focus or go broad?

Posted by flijten on 19/12/2016 at 06:36

I'll be in Indonesia this summer for about twelve weeks. Probably june, july and august. As always with prolonging a stay somewhere, it doesn't get easier but harder to choose an itenerary. One of the first things I need to solve is wether to really focus on a few islands or go for a broader sweep of a lot more. I will be a first time Indonesia visitor (though I've seen most of the rest of SE Asia) So I will do Java, Sumatra and Bali, probably in a 3 - 2 - 1 week ratio (perhaps 2-2-1?) Which wil ...

If you have any reasonable recommendations about accommodations out there I would appreciate it. I dont mind hostels but If I can find something monthly I think I would prefer that idea. NYE - where to? Gilis Air? Gili T? Anywhere else?

Posted by carolhaddad on 5/11/2016 at 14:13

Hey there! I'm travelling to Indonesia by the end of the year with my sister and a friend - late 20s, early 30s. Backpacker style - like meeting people, like getting to know local culture, authentic experiences, avoid fancy resorts, etc We are having a hard time deciding where specifically to spend the NYE. We would like to be at a party place - NYE afterall - but not too posh and not too wildly-college-people (I've been there, believe me, but it's over). We were considering Gili Air, but som ...

Flores Driving Tour

Posted by Zellerrose on 4/12/2016 at 19:46

Hello, wondering if anyone has experience of, or can recommend a car/driver for a 4 day, 3 night tour of Flores, Indonesia. We are flying into Ende on December 7th and would like to head west, and be in Labuan Bajo by December 10th. We are a group of four backpackers so budget is a big part of our decision, and as such we will organise our own accommodation and itinerary. In a perfect world we would like to self-drive across Flores, but I have heard that this isn't an option - would be del ...

Booking Komodo trip on arrival

Posted by brettjayhawk on 25/10/2016 at 08:22

First time in Indonesia and as a solo traveler I'd like to go see Komodo and see the dragons. I'm looking at doing a 3day/2night boat trip but I'm looking at arriving in LBJ the night before I want to head out on the trip potentially. I know it'll be cheaper if I find a operator when I get there but is it also possible to book something when I arrive in Bali the 3-4 days before my plan to leave for LBJ? ...

New Sumba and Sabah itineraries online

Posted by somtam2000 on 18/11/2016 at 17:04

Yes, it took a while, but we finally have got two Sumba itineraries and two Sabah itineraries live on the site. Sumba first. The shorter plan is for those who are very time-limited, and it is a four-day taster, that focusses on West Sumba, while the second is a more in depth trip, for which you'll need a minimum of two weeks – go on, ask the boss for four weeks leave – which will take you right across the island. For Sabah (where is Sabah you ask? In northern Borneo and a part of Malaysi ...

NYE - Seminyak - Which club?

Posted by AlexandreBorges on 7/11/2016 at 16:59

I am single and looking for a party at NYE in Bali 31/Dec/2016. Indeed I booked Seminyak, but I have no clue which venue to go for. Could you help me with your experience? I heard of KuDeTa, Potato Head and Cocoon. Till now there is only the complete listing for Cocoon attractions, but of what I saw in youtube it looks like it happens in a closed club, so I wonder an open air would not be better? Any opinion including about other venues out of Bali for sure will help me. ...

Traditional Bungalows & Hammock in Lombok/Gilis?

Posted by smoothy on 27/10/2016 at 22:49

Visited the Gilis in 1998 and 2007, and stayed in traditional style wooden/bamboo bungalows where hammocks can be attached to the balcony. Was planning to visit Meno in December but it seems many of the bungalow operations have ‘upgraded’ and the old style bungalows might not exist anymore? Hopefully, I am wrong. Any recommendations (on any of the Gillis or mainland Lombok) gratefully received. ...
