Looking for paradise!

Posted by comtam3000 on 30/7/2014 at 07:50

Hi all - I will have 4 weeks to spend in Indo, I've already spent time on Bali so looking to take off for Nusa Tengarra day 1/2. Either fly into Labuan Bajo or Maumere, or take a boat to LB. We'd like to see Komodos/Rinca/Kanawa, Kelimutus lakes and also perhaps Riung Islands. We have a full month, really looking to find some serene places since we have the time to do so. But definitely not wanting to pack too much in. Wouldn't mind doing Flores for 12-16 days Any suggestions on some othe ...

Mount Bromo to Ijen Crater (No Tour!!)

Posted by Aydonosaur on 21/8/2014 at 21:08

Hi all, I'm planning a trip to Mount Bromo after an overnight stay in the village of Ngadas. I don't like tours, I don't drive and I probably can't ride an ojek due to a rolling duffel bag. Can anyone offer some directions/information? Is it possible to hire a driver in Ngadas to take me to Mount Bromo and then Mount Penanjakan? Then from Mount Bromo I plan to head to Bondowoso and onward to Kawah Ijen. Where can I hire a driver from Mount Bromo or is it better to take a bus? Also, how long is ...

Posted by firsttimeindo on 10/8/2014 at 08:04

Hello Everybody, On the 20th of august I will leave for 6 weeks to Indonesia. I will fly in and out from Bali. As I booked my ticket rather last minute and I'm a first time backer, I would love some advice on my Itinerary. Of the six weeks I would like to spend two on Bali, because of a friend who lives in seminyak. My main question is; what is the typical backpackers trail (one where I will quickly meet new people to spend the night or travel with). I have a large budget and can take some dom ...

Extending Visa in Bali & Onward Flights

Posted by nicoletta on 4/8/2014 at 01:56

Hi there, I'm looking at travelling to Indonesia from Phnom Penh in the next couple of weeks and am wondering if anyone has any recent experience extending their visa on their own without going through an agent? I'm a NZ citizen so can get a 30 day visa on arrival but would like to spend two months travelling. Also, does anyone know if it's acceptable to have your onward flight booked for 60 days later if you know you're definitely going to extend your visa? Any advice appreciated. Cheers. ...

Hi! I am trying to plan a 3 week trip Mid September-beginning of October, including Bali, Lombok (thinking we want to climb Rinjani) and the Gilli Islands. I was thinking we might do 3 nights in Bali, fly to Lombok 1 night, then 2 nights for the hike, another 2 nights on the beach, then maybe 5 nights on the Gilli Islands, and then back to Bali We want to have a combo of relaxing on nice beaches, good scuba diving and some cultural sites. Raja Ampat on a budget?

Posted by Tokaymas on 21/12/2012 at 21:04

The Raja Ampat islands in Indonesia's West Papua province are one of the wildest and most pristine places we'd ever seen. Tourism is only just beginning out there, thanks to the region's astounding marine biodiversity and acknowledgement as one of the world's premier dive destinations. The only problem we had was organising our stay - there was almost *no* information available on the internet for travellers looking to visit Raja Ampat on a budget. We decided to remedy that and help local commun ...

We are planning on doing a RTW trip without catching a plane and would like to start our trip cruising to Bali starting between Nov 2015-Jan 2016. Unfortunately the few cruises that are available want full fare for a trip that we would only take part of. I have searched for days looking for alternatives, including freight cruises, but am now stuck on finding anything. Can anyone suggest something I may have missed, even if we go via another location. It's not a problem to start our trip from an ...

Java in July...too rainy?

Posted by comtam3000 on 11/7/2014 at 00:36

Towards the tail end of July and early August, I'd like to spend just over a week exploring East Java. Two highlights for me will be Mt. Bromo and Kawah Ijen. A few Indonesians have told me it's going to be really rainy there though...has anyone been to these areas this time of the year? I'd like to brave the rain...but for example if the chances of getting a clear day at Bromo are very very slim this time of year then I'd opt to skip it. Anyone tried this? ...
