Posted by somtam2000 on 12/5/2013 at 21:14

Heya, I'm making my second attempt at climbing Bali's highest peak, Gunung Agung this Saturday coming. If anyone happens to be in Bali and would be interested in joining, let me know. It's a physically demanding climb, you can read a synopsis here: http://www.gunungbagging.com/agung/ I've organized a guide & will be leaving from Sidemen for the Pura Agung route. Cheers! ...

13 days Budget Itinerary Java Bali. Opinion?

Posted by jivie798 on 31/3/2013 at 06:25

We are planing a trip to Java and Bali in early July 2013. I need opinion, if what I've planned is physically plausible and by time realistic. Day 1: Arrive in Jogjakarta. Tour around Jogjakarta. Arrange hiking tour to Mount Merapi, and transportation to Borobudur the next day. Day 2: Reach Borobudur. Arrange sunrise trip to Temple complex. Day 3: Sunrise tour Borobudur and Prambanan. Return to Jogjakarta. Day 4 and Day 5: Mount Merapi hike. Another sunrise tour. Day 6: Travel to Surabaya. Rest. ...

Suggestions please! 6 weeks Lombok - Bali - Java

Posted by Lettie2012 on 5/5/2013 at 14:30

Hi, We are heading to Indonesia in a few weeks, flying into Lombok and out of Jakarta . This forum was really helpful in deciding to do that, so thank you. I've sketched out a rough number of days for each place below. We don't really want to plan any more (and what's below is nowhere near set in stone, we will just see how things go), but it would be great if you had any suggestions for cool places that are on our route. We're students, quite active, want to do and see a lot of different t ...

Last minute advice re Bali route

Posted by johnno on 11/4/2013 at 23:01

Big apology to all those who have replied to my previous post re. exploring in whole of Bali in 9days. Since then my gf has decided to tag along with me for few days so have to slow the pace a little and change the itinerary completely. I'm prepared to copy/absorb the itineraries of the most experienced forum members here as I've given up on re-routing my original itinerary within next few days. I've just come back from manila and singapore with first time travellers to asia and it was a nightma ...

Flores for two weeks

Posted by somtam2000 on 20/3/2013 at 23:45

We're off to Flores for a couple of weeks this Sunday, flying in and out of Labuanbajo from Bali. We've got the kids (4 & 6) in tow and aside from either showing them (or feeding them to, depending on behaviour) Komodo Dragons we have a blank slate. Kanawa has come highly recommended from some friends here and The Twitter, as has Wae Rebo, but aside from that we were thinking of getting a hire car and taking a bit of a poke around -- nothing too arduous -- or perhaps doing a boat trip for a ...

Trekking on Rinca or Komodo - Which is better?

Posted by RJB2288 on 30/4/2013 at 09:01

Hi all - I'm planning on doing a 2N/3D live aboard dive boat in the Komodo National Park (leaving from Laban Bajo) and wanted to spend a half day (or maybe even a full day) trekking on either Komodo or Rinca. I read in Lonely Planet that Komodo is a lot less touristy and more wild than Rinca since most dive boats go to Rinca. But then I read somewhere else that Rinca is better. Can anyone tell me which island is better for a long trek (more than just an hour)? I know you see more Komodos on ...

Pelni Schedule for May

Posted by eva000 on 13/4/2013 at 03:38

Hi everyone, I can't seem to make any sense of the Pelni website. I am looking for the schedule of the KM Tidar, which I would like to take from Ambon to Banda, and maybe to the Keis and back, too. I compared the April schedules already, but I am not sure what that says about May? All I can seem to find is this PDF, but I'm afraid I don't understand it: http://www.pelni.co.id/content/file/jadwal-kapal-pelni-2013.pdf Does anybody know more? Also, did anyone take the Tidar yet, what were your ex ...

I'm not sure if this has been done before in Bali...

Posted by johnno on 18/3/2013 at 03:07

...by a first timer in Bali, but I want to explore ALL (i.e. as much as possible) of Bali in 9 days. Yes, it's a short time. But some of us can't take too much time off. Yes I could focus on just one part of the island but then I'd miss out the rest. I don't care how rushed it's going to get. I'm a landscape person. I just want some input as to the best way of dividing Bali for exploration purposes. Roughly I have this in my mind - Kuta region for the first 2 days. Ubud for the next 2. Then hiri ...

How to get from Jakarta to Bali without flying?

Posted by gingersmith869 on 14/9/2011 at 12:20

Hi guys! I was wondering if anybody could help me get from Jakarta to Bali? I have 12 days and now realise this isn't very long at all, and that ferries can be quite unpredictable and not travel every day. Is there a website or any other resource someone could recommend? I can't find answers on here in relation to travelling between the two. I have no idea how much it would cost via ferry either? We'd rather not fly, although if there is little difference in the cost, it would be something we ...

Being a student in Indonesia and travel afterwards

Posted by aprilshine on 27/3/2013 at 21:12

Hello, Apologies if this has been asked already, but with multiple internet searches I have not been able to find a similar situation to answer my question and put my mind at ease... OK, so I will be a student for 6 weeks in Indonesia (Java) coming up in a few months (I have a letter from the sponsor in Indonesia and all that). I understand that I will likely be applying for a 60-day Social-Cultural visa, as this seems to be the type of visa students get. However, my question is this: for the ...
