Bali to Ijen and Bromo

Posted by screamin on 8/7/2013 at 02:50

I will be in Bali later in the year and thinking of doing a trip to Java on a tight budget. I have read I can catch a bus from Denpasar Ubung bus terminal to Gilimanuk and take the ferry to Java. Once I reach Java I want to head toward Ijen then onto Mt Bromo what is the best means of transport between the two and what kind of costs will I be looking at. Does the train go anywhere near either of these two places. Thanx ...

10 days Indonesia incl. diving?

Posted by wanderingirish on 2/7/2013 at 17:13

Hi all, I'm going out to Singapore with work for a week at the end of August and hoping to manage a trip to Indonesia at the end of it. I haven't booked flights yet but I am thinking approx. 10 days. I'm not a mad beach person, but would quite like to get a day or two's diving in while I am out - maybe in two different locations? I've heard there is some wreck diving, which I think would be really cool to try. Other than that. I am pretty flexible about what I do and where I go, and feeling a ...

Help w/ Indonesia Itinerary - 2 parents & a baby (8mos old)

Posted by lnr103 on 18/6/2013 at 21:58

Hi. I'm looking for advice. My husband and I love to travel but have been laying pretty low the past year since becoming pregnant and having a baby. We will be traveling to Indonesia this September 2013 and want to make sure we plan it right for our baby and still have an exciting, interesting, relaxing stay. We typically don't "plan" so to speak. My husband and I are the type of travelers who book the first night and last night of our holiday and figure the middle out as we go....W ...

3 Weeks Indonesia August / September, help with itinerary / travel suggestions...

Posted by nochnbier on 19/4/2013 at 17:00

Hi there, in August/September my girlfriend and I will be going to Indonesia, and we need a little help with our itinerary. What we want: lots of Nature (some Jungle, see a Vulcano...), Culture, and a couple of days chillin' on a beach (snorkeling / diving). Budget: around 1000Euro (about 1300$) per person (flight not included) is the maximum. We dont need high-end-accomodation, but a clean private bathroom is highly appreciated. We don't go to fancy restaurants, so simple streetfood / lower bu ...

General tips needed!!

Hi everyone! First of all thanks for reading my message! My husband and me (31 and 29 years old) are going to Indonesia this October. The total length of our trip is 21 days. We know for sure that we want to spend one week in Mentawais (we will probably stay at the Aloita surf resort). Besides that we don't have any specific place that we want to go. I've heard so many incredible things about Indonesia that is hard to pick places to visit/stay. So I'd love to get some suggestions from people tha ...

Karimunjawa

Posted by JohnMcClane on 20/6/2013 at 17:27

Hello! I have been reading up on Travelfish for the past few months while planning my trip through SEA. Thought it was about time I became a member so i could ask you lovely people some questions! First stop on the trip will be Indonesia. Will be flying into Jakarta on 12th Sept and, as they are fairly inexpensive, plan to fly to direct to Semarang. Plan on spending 4-6 days on the Karimunjawa islands, then two weeks around east Java, then spend the last week or 10 days of the visa in Bali. ...

60 Day Visa Peculirity

Posted by p03924545 on 3/4/2012 at 13:08

Hey there I've managed to get a 60 day tourist visa from my local embassy. Its got a start date and an end date, which are 90 days apart. The problem I have is that the 90 day end date expires before I'm due to leave Indonesia. I've spoken with the embassy but to be honest their English wasn't great nor were there explanation skills. They seemed to say that the 60 day visa is valid for entry at any time during the 90 day validity period. On entry I'll then get a stamp granting me 60 days of vi ...

Travelfish Indonesia

Posted by somtam2000 on 24/4/2010 at 07:54

Yes I know, we said it would never happen. But as someone famous once said, never say never. Partly as a result of the ongoing political dramas in Thailand we're going to start adding coverage to parts of Indonesia to Travelfish. Given there's 17,000 islands and we've still got quite a bit of work cut out on our Malaysia section, we're not promising comprehensive coverage anytime soon, but we will be trying to cherry pick some of the destinations you'll more likely be heading to. We'll ...

Car Hire in Indonesia

I am going to Indonesia for 8 weeks over the summer and was thinking about hiring a car with 3 friends and driving around Bali or Lombok. Has anyone had any experience with car hire? Is driving in Indonesia very different to England? (Last summer we went to Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia so I have had some experience of the crazy Asian driving-styles!) Any tips, warnings, recommendations are welcome. Thanks! ...

Which is the better location for white water rafting in Bali?

Posted by klb5050 on 1/6/2013 at 05:10

I am looking at booking a white water rafting tour in Bali for later this year and am tossing up between rafting at the Agung river vs the Telaga Waga river. I have gone rafting at the Agung river before, but as this is intended as a present for my boyfriend's (delayed) birthday, I want to book the tour for the river that has the most challenging rapids. Does anyone have experience with both locations and which is the best/most challenging? ...
