Posted by seangoh on 28/10/2013 at 00:12

Hello, I'm visiting Bali next Jan and I'm intending to stay at Sidemen from 4 to 7 Jan 2014. If the weather permits I will try to climb Gunung Agung on 5 or 6 Jan. I'm thus looking for a travel buddy, especially for the Agung climb. I intend to go via the Pura Besakih route. It's 6 hours up and 5 hours down. Agung is the tallest peak in Bali and you can see Mount Bater and Mount Rinjani from the summit. Please see here: My other plans ( ...

I'm planning on backpacking through Bali and Lombok from Nov 15 - 30, and plan on visiting Bali, Lombok and Gili Islands. I'd love some company through these places as well as if you're interested in a climb and some company up either of these. I'll also be climbing up Mount Kinabalu early December, if anyone is interested. ...

petrol price in flores or get busses

Posted by miriam123 on 26/10/2013 at 02:04

Hi I'm traveling with my boyfriend in Bali at the minute but going to go across to Flores in a few weeks. Were going across on a boat and maybe coming back overland with a ferry local ferry crossings. Would it be best/ cheaper to get buses across Flores or hire a motobike in Labuan Bajo and take it both ways? I'm aware of flights back from Matarman but would rather do it on land. Will be in Flores for about 2 weeks and half but not in any rush. Thank you ...

Is 3 weeks in Bali too long?

Posted by marie79 on 4/10/2013 at 14:07

Hi everyone, We're a family of 4 (parents, 1 3 years old, and one 1 year old) going to Bali in February. - We are thinking of staying 3 weeks, would it be too long or should we include a nearby island or places like Nusa Lembongan? We don't want to "see as much as possible", we know that traveling with 2 young children is much slower now than when my husband and I were backpacking.... All we want is a relaxing holiday, spending time with our children and doing things with them, and of ...

Would it be dumb to do Yogya --> Bromo --> Bali independently?

Posted by HeHeLOL5 on 6/5/2013 at 20:29

Hi all, I have about 10 days to travel in Indo. I would like to fly into Yogyakarta, then head to Bali through Mt. Bromo. I've heard that the minibus trips are uncomfortable, and I read online that it's more comfortable (and quicker) to use public transportation or executive busses, as detailed below. For someone who has never travelled in Indo and doesn't know the langauge, is the below trip recommended? - Yogya to Bromo: Takethe morning train from Yogya to Surabaya (leaves at around 7am ...

Sumba: Visiting Pasola 2014

Posted by Harry05 on 17/9/2013 at 11:23

Would like to visit the Pasola on Sumba island next year also to make some nice photos. Already did some research and found out that there are two Pasalo festivals in West Sumba in february, in both the Kodi area and the Lemboya area. Festival seems to start about 6-8 days after full moon (set at febr. 15) which would mean about febr. 21 till 23. It seems that the dates are not exactly known in advance but that's not a problem, I can go to Sumba a few days before and wait for the Pasola dates wh ...

In Bali with four kids plans have gone awol any helpful suggestions

Posted by luti767 on 17/9/2013 at 09:13

We are in Bali with our four children aged 7 to 12. This is a big trip for us as you can imagine. We planned to start in Bali but spending quite a bit of time travelling across from Gili Islands to Lombok, Sumbawa and Komodo National Park. We had hoped to go to Salawesi but was going to see how far our budget stretched. Today we climbed aboard a fast boat to Gili and the boat met with an accident. The kids got a huge fright and I ended up in hospital. We all survived but none of us want to hop o ...

Comparison of the weather in Cambodia and Indonesia during a rainy season?

Posted by cloud on 13/9/2013 at 08:13

I am considering traveling Java and Bali in the coming January, i.e., rainy season and worried about the weather. I have experience of traveling Cambodia and Vietnam in September and October, i.e., rainy season. It rained nearly every day and was very heavy but the raining was generally only during an hour or so. Before and after the rain, strangely the sky was usually clear and sunny and the rainy season was not a big difficulty to me. However, I wonder how bad the weather is during a rainy s ...

One-way renting of a car in Indonesia?

Posted by cloud on 12/9/2013 at 11:05

I considered one-way renting of a car, ie, picking one at Jakarta and returning it to Denpasar. I checked car rent websites but they did not show available cars but showed a message, "Cars meeting your requirements are not available." I tried the search several times with different dates but the results were the same. Is one-way car renting is not available in Indonesia? ...

Indonesia to Australia by boat

Posted by afarewell2barms on 20/8/2013 at 02:56

Yes I know it's a common question - I've read all I can find. This post is not so much asking whether or not it's possible (I know it is with a bit of luck) I'm just wondering if anyone knows of any boats leaving anytime soon - obviously any other general constructive suggestions are welcome. Me and my GF are doing the old UK to Oz overland trip. We're currently in Thailand and are heading South towards Indonesia with the idea that that's the best place to hitch a ride on private vessel. I'm we ...

Perama cruise Flores - Komodo NP - Lombok

Posted by tezza on 18/6/2009 at 15:47

The Lombok-Flores trip is one I've wanted to do for several years - as it turned out, time constraints meant I did the reverse 2 day/2night trip instead of the 3 or 4 day west-east cruises offered by a number of operators. Overall, I thought Perama's operation was exceptionally good, my one qualification is that it was a little bit expensive by Indonesian standards (but still very good value in western terms) at approx $US125 deck class all meals, snorkelling gear and NP entry included in May 0 ...
