How to get from Jakarta to Bali without flying?

Posted by gingersmith869 on 14/9/2011 at 12:20

Hi guys! I was wondering if anybody could help me get from Jakarta to Bali? I have 12 days and now realise this isn't very long at all, and that ferries can be quite unpredictable and not travel every day. Is there a website or any other resource someone could recommend? I can't find answers on here in relation to travelling between the two. I have no idea how much it would cost via ferry either? We'd rather not fly, although if there is little difference in the cost, it would be something we ...

My boyfriend and I will be in Indonesia from August 1st until September 1st for the first time (SO EXCITED!!) We want to see as much as we can while we are there. We are not on a tight budget but would prefer economy options where possible. We would like to see as much of Indonesia as possible. We would like to do some scuba diving (Raja Ampat? Any other suggestions?), Jungle Trekking to see the Orangs, Bali to do some beach lounging, Irian Jaya to see the Dani tribe, temples, Komodo...I'd be op ...

Being a student in Indonesia and travel afterwards

Posted by aprilshine on 27/3/2013 at 21:12

Hello, Apologies if this has been asked already, but with multiple internet searches I have not been able to find a similar situation to answer my question and put my mind at ease... OK, so I will be a student for 6 weeks in Indonesia (Java) coming up in a few months (I have a letter from the sponsor in Indonesia and all that). I understand that I will likely be applying for a 60-day Social-Cultural visa, as this seems to be the type of visa students get. However, my question is this: for the ...

Two Weeks in Indonesia - itinerary help

Posted by RJB2288 on 13/2/2013 at 17:34

My sister and I have 2 weeks to travel through Indonesia in May and need help with picking out the best itinerary for that amount of time (its way too short - but my work won't let me stay away). From my research, Sulawesi, the more remote parts of Bali, Lombock, and Sumatra sound like the most interesting places to go - but I know we can't cover that much ground in 2 weeks. So does anyone have any advice on how to get the most out of our time there with some sample itineraries? We want a mix o ...

Surf Camp / Surf holiday -- for beginners

Posted by JulesMc on 12/3/2013 at 06:01

Hi experienced Indo travellers I will be in Indo for the first time for a minimum of 4 weeks+ in late June/early July 2013 and would like to kick off my Bali stay with a 5 or 7-days long "surf camp". I am travelling solo for my first half of the trip so I think for one it would be great for meeting people. I am a beginner, so not really looking to surf mental Padang reef breaks or anything etc. Besides the waves, looking for a good vibe and not sure if I should sign up to a full surf ...

Posted by StephJayne165 on 22/2/2013 at 22:54

Hi Guys, Need a bit of advice about the weather situ in Bali/Lombok/Gili Islands at end of Feb/beginning of March. I've been doing a bit of research and understand that this is rainy season over there. I'm hoping somebody can tell me if it really is a complete washout over there, of weather it's just a few hours of passing rain every day, still with some sunshine to enjoy the beaches? I've only got a couple of weeks left, so obviously want to make the most of it, is Indonesia still worth check ...

Headed to Maluku? Let Laszlo help...

Posted by somtam2000 on 30/1/2013 at 18:43

Maluku in far eastern Indonesia sees but a trickle of both foreign and domestic travellers. We've never been there ourselves, but Laszlo Wagner has, and partly as a result of his love of the region he built the website East-indonesia.info. So what we've done, in cooperation with Laszlo, is added links across the Indonesian portion to Travelfish.org that will lead you straight to the relevant sections on Maluku on East-indonesia.info. All such links are followed by [EI] so you know you're on the ...

Couple travelling Indonesia for x2 weeks advice needed

This year I am landing at Denpasar on 27th Feb and will be in the region until 15th March. I was hoping for some advice around a suggested itinerary. I will be travelling with my girlfriend and we want an even mix of relaxation as well as keeping ourselves busy and entertained. We both hated Phuket so I imagine we would hate Kuta. As we only have two weeks I ...

6 weeks itinerary Vietnam & Indonesia - is this vaguely realistic?

Hi, Some friends and I are planning a 6 week trip to SE Asia June/July. We've never been to Asia before. I've been trying to wade through the information but there are so many places we would like to go! We're looking for a good mix of things - nature, culture, beaches, cities. We only have the 6 weeks and are students so budget is not limitless, but we're happy to spend on good things. Thinking about flying into Hanoi and out of Denpasar with Singapore Air. This is sort of ordered list of ...

Where To Stay For Chinese New Year (Beach... Reggae DJing...)

Posted by themuths on 12/1/2013 at 11:49

Hi, We're an American couple traveling to Bali for Chinese New Year (from Hong Kong), looking to relax during the day at the beach yet also go out some nights. Have been looking at villas with pools on Airbnb, so this is a slightly upmarket trip for us (we usually backpack), but we've decided to pamper ourselves a bit for once. I am wondering what other options there are besides Seminyak/Legian that have a decent beach for both relaxing and also body surfing [loved Varkala and Gokarna (Kudlee) ...
