Looking for a fellow traveler - Wonosari to Bejiharjo Village

Posted by notveryirish on 2/1/2013 at 01:50

Hello, my friend and I are planning to take a tour to Pindul Cave in Bejiharjo Village on January 15, 2013. We plan to use valadoo.com's pick up service from Wonosari Terminal to Bejiharjo Village as the village is pretty remote (my friend mentioned to me that no public transportation is available to the village). Our problem is that the tour requires us to have 4 person(s) in the group in order to use the pick up service, so we're missing two. My friend and I are on limited budget and we both ...

AirAsia introduce MANDATORY checked bag fee for domestic Indonesian flights

Posted by somtam2000 on 28/12/2012 at 04:37

I only found this out when I tried to book a domestic flight in Indonesia today with Southeast Asian low cost carrier AirAsia that there is now a MANDATORY checked luggage fee of 40,000 rupiah per passenger. This fee is payable regardless of if you have to check bags or not. When I quizzed AirAsia on Twitter about it, they said: "@travelfish Hi,pls note mandatory 15kg checked baggage apply to all Indonesia domestic flights. Details http://www.airasia.com/ask/template.do?id=583" MA ...

Snorkeling/beach time in Bali: Pemuteran vs. Gilis?

Posted by mattgrieger on 20/12/2012 at 21:21

Hi everyone, I'm looking to spend a few days snorkeling and lounging on the beach in Bali and am debating between Pemuteran vs. the Gilis. I'm leaning toward Pemuteran due to its proximity to the national park, mountains, etc. Both seem to have beautiful, clear water but I'm not sure about the relative merits of the coral reefs and the sea life. Are sea turtles equally prevalent in both places? I would appreciate your input! Matt ...

Sumatra

Posted by nrose01 on 5/12/2012 at 17:41

I plan on flying into Jakarta and then going up through Sumatra and eventually crossing to KL to then head up towards Bangkok. What are the stand out sights and features of Sumatra? I'm not that into trekking so I'd be interested in mainly relgious sites, cities, possible beaches (?) etc. Will roughly $30 a day be enough and are hostels available? Also is there a ferry available to Malaysia? Any information would be great. Cheers, Nathaniel ...

Posted by b3y0nd on 8/12/2012 at 21:44

Hey guys I am flying into Bali (DPS) tomorrow arriving at 10pm, and my connecting flight is at 6am the next day. Does anyone have any tips of what to do for this period of time? I've tried looking for the condition of Bali's airport but havent found much. I was wondering if anyone had any advice, or recommendations to do for that time. Is it worth getting a hostel for the night? Cheers ...

Lake Toba / Berastagi / Bukit Lawang

Posted by Sawf35 on 27/3/2012 at 18:23

Hi all, A mate and I are arriving in Medan at about 17:00 on June 21st and flying out again at 8:00 on July 1st, giving us 9 full days. We will obviously have to stay in Medan the night before we leave, due to the early flight, but we were wondering whether it is too ambitious to make it to all of Lake Toba, Berastagi and Bukit Lawang in that time? If we have to skip one of those places, I'm leaning towards missing out on Berastagi based on the research I've done, but I'm interested in hearin ...

Urgent help to get from Kuta to Bromo

Posted by HollyN on 24/11/2012 at 03:09

Hello I am wondering if anyone could please help. Me and my friend are currently in Kuta and want to visit Mount Gunung Bromo. Can anyone tell us how to get there and how much roughly this will cost? We know we need to get to Ubung, (according to lonely planet a taxi would be 70,000 rupiah) then a bus, then a ferry.. However, there are tours available for 2 people, 3 days 2 nights for around $270 per person, which is return transport and a hotel for 2 night with breakfast. It works out about ...

Kelimutu vs. Rinjani

Posted by feiticeira on 13/10/2012 at 16:40

Hi, I'm just wondering if anyone out here has done both Kelimutu and climbed Mt. Rinjani and can recommend one over the other as a more must-see/must-do option and what your experiences were like (including the "down-time" or travel time in order to get to these places where most tours take you to experience the local culture a little bit more. I have to decide what to do with my last 3 remaining days in Indonesia (coming from Denpasar) and want to make it the most worthwhile and curr ...

Rice terrace accommodations in Bali

Posted by mattgrieger on 5/10/2012 at 20:21

Hi everyone, I'll be spending a few weeks in Bali in January and I really want to find a guesthouse somewhere (perhaps around Ubud?) with great views of rice terraces. I don't really care where in the country it is; I just want to wake up and sit outside on a veranda and look at rice terraces. I'd like to not spend more than $50/night. Any suggestions? Thanks, Matt ...

Late Nite Arrival -- What to do?

Posted by KhowNeow11 on 7/9/2012 at 04:00

My flight in to Jakarta from HCMC tomorrow night(procrastination?..) is due to land at 23:25, and while I'm in the process of confirming accommodation for the night, i'm hoping to get out of Jakarta as quickly as possible (with a final destination of pangandaran). I've just discovered that there are buses to Bogor or Bandung directly from the airport, which is perfect for me, but by the time i arrive it seems all the routes will have suspended for the night. hence my predicament. i'd rather ...
