Dear indo travellers! I am a solo woman traveller, and I would like to go to bukittingi and the kerinci area! I have not a lot of time left, a bit less than 2,5 weeks. My plan is to go tomorrow to Bukit lawang and after that to Padang. My flight is on 14 Juli from bali. I'mnot sure if I have enough time. No idea how many days I need for kerinci..anyone experiences with that area? I am wondering if it's easy to find other travellers around kerinci to climb the volcano with for example. ...

Suggestions for a 3-week Kalimantan trip

Posted by emeve on 20/5/2017 at 09:23

Hi, my bf and I are planning to visit Kalimantan for 3 weeks in Oct-Nov. The main reason to go there is to see some wildlife, local culture and enjoy some beautiful beaches. Because we've limited time and will be traveling from Europe we don't want to spend the majority of our time traveling from one location to the other, so ideally visit 3-4 locations. I've been doing research and can't decide if visiting Tanjung Puting National Park or Kutai National Park. Tanjung Puting seems much easier to ...

Sponsors for a long term visa

Posted by Digitarius on 8/6/2017 at 19:11

Does anyone have any solid information on obtaining a sponsor for a long term visa? I have been to the immigration office in Jakarta and the Indonesian consulate in Los Angeles and both basically said you have to find a sponsor who is Indonesian and have them write letter for approval to the immigration office in Jakarta. I have no idea where to begin or how to get one. I a guessing I will have to make friends and ask. Any real information which could help would be much appreciated. Thank ...

Buying games in Indonesia (SkipBo)

Posted by flijten on 8/6/2017 at 06:09

Our SkipBo game has seen more countries than fit on toes and fingers but since I'm a total idiot I forgot to take it to Indonesia. The next tree months will be devoid of the game unless someone knows where to find this. So far I tried a lot of Jakarta malls, toy stores and yogya malls, but games seem not typically Indonesian ...

Travel during Ramadan

Posted by flijten on 2/6/2017 at 07:12

So I'm currently on Java and taking good time. Since I didn't necessarily want to be on Bali for two full weeks however, I might end up at lombok during the end of Ramadan. Up until now I didn't notice too much of Ramadan, but that was Chinatown Jakarta and a homestay in Cianjur. I have a couple of questions: How does ramadan impact general food consumption when I'm in small(er) , less touristed towns? Should I take care of drinking water in public for instance or is it just harder to g ...

Sumatra Itinerary help

Posted by savorygal on 13/2/2017 at 22:27

Hi TF peeps, I am thinking of taking a 2-3 week trip through Sumatra in mid June. Looking through TF & other guides, I'm a bit overwhelmed. Sumatra is so BIG. I am currently thinking of flying into Aceh, with onward travel to Pulau Weh for some diving. But thats flexible as well. I would like to include lake Toba and a shortish trek to see the orangutans, but would like to see them in their natural habitat and not at a feeding station. Recommended national parks? Bukitinggi sounds ...

Yogyakarta 2 1/2 day itinerary??

Posted by roosen on 16/5/2017 at 14:37

Hi, My wife and I arrive in Yogyakarta at 9:30 in the morning. We have that day and two more. We of course want to see the Kraton, Borobudur, and Prambanan. We like to take photos and see historic sites. We are also interested in hiking, cycling, rafting, etc. but don't really expect that to be a Yogyakarta thing. Any suggestions on how to spend the time? Off the top of my head I'd say Kraton on the arrival day, Borobudur the second day, and Prambanan the third day. But as the Kraton ...

Is it risky? Nusa Lembongan to Denpasar airport same morning?

Posted by lajoy9 on 6/5/2017 at 01:30

We would be leaving N'usa Lembongan Island same morning by boat(speedboat?), to Sanur, then transportation to airport. We Would like to be at airport by 10:00 am. Is this too risky? Would it be better to have one night buffer closer to airport? Do you have a reliable boat/transport to recommend? I have been in contact with my hotel but cannot get a clear answer. Thanks. ...

Ubud for a digital nomad from mid May to mid June?

Posted by jameslon on 27/4/2017 at 01:37

Im taking a month to work on a personal project on my laptop so I suppose that qualifies me as a "digital nomad". Ill be flying from Australia mid May and by mid June I need to end up in Hong Kong. Ive already been to Chiang Mai as a backpacker. Bali (with Ubud in particular) seems to be the other hub for nomads. However Ive heard a lot of Aussies go on holiday around this time so will it be swamped with tourists? Id rather hang out with nomads as ill be working most of the day ...

Here's my plan so far: Seminyak - 2 nights (have heard bad reviews about the area but arrive in Denpasar around 11pm so stay here will only be short) Ubud - 3/4 nights (want to ...

Tarempa - Anambas Islands - Any Advice?

Posted by tpogrady on 7/4/2017 at 11:03

I am planning to spend a few days in Tarempa - located on Pulau Siantan in the Anambas Island chain. There is very little information about this destination online (which adds to the charm), but I was curious if anyone has recommendations of lodging, restaurants or activities. Should I book a hotel room in advance, or upon arrival? Does anyone have any idea how much rooms cost in late May/early June? This site has helped me understand the logistics of getting there via ferry: www.anambasferry.co ...
