Am from India and wish to undertake a trip during the week of June 19th with my 11 year old son for a Scuba Diving PADI Certification (Open Water certification for him and an advanced certification for myself)
Could you please advise which is the best place that is very kid friendly, patient to teach from basics and enable certification?
I have Indonesia, Philippines and Thailand as options. Your expertise and help is much appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
My wife and I arrive in Yogyakarta at 9:30 in the morning. We have that day and two more.
We of course want to see the Kraton, Borobudur, and Prambanan.
We like to take photos and see historic sites. We are also interested in hiking, cycling, rafting, etc. but don't really expect that to be a Yogyakarta thing.
Any suggestions on how to spend the time?
Off the top of my head I'd say Kraton on the arrival day, Borobudur the second day, and Prambanan the third day. But as the Kraton ...
Hi, we have a 12:00pm flight from Denpasar airport to Kuala Lumpur. We would be leaving N'usa Lembongan Island same morning by boat(speedboat?), to Sanur, then transportation to airport. We Would like to be at airport by 10:00 am. Is this too risky? Would it be better to have one night buffer closer to airport? Do you have a reliable boat/transport to recommend? I have been in contact with my hotel but cannot get a clear answer.
Hi! We are planning our trip in Indonesia and we will stay for a couple of days in Nusa Penida , but I am a bit confused on how to go back to Bali. We need to reach Padang Bay as we are going to take another fast boat from there to Gili Meno. But I can't find any website or info about ferries or fast boats from Nusa Penida to Padang Bay. Can someone help? Thank you so much! Francesca ...
Any recommendations of places to go in Flores for about 6 days? We will have already been to Rinca and Komodo. Any good guides? Also, is it better to go to Malaysian Borneo or Indonesian Borneo to see orangutans in the wild? We have about 10-14 days there. Many Thanks ...
Im taking a month to work on a personal project on my laptop so I suppose that qualifies me as a "digital nomad". Ill be flying from Australia mid May and by mid June I need to end up in Hong Kong.
Ive already been to Chiang Mai as a backpacker. Bali (with Ubud in particular) seems to be the other hub for nomads. However Ive heard a lot of Aussies go on holiday around this time so will it be swamped with tourists? Id rather hang out with nomads as ill be working most of the day ...
I'm going to Bali this June for three weeks and am trying to plan the itinerary/where to stay for the duration at the moment and I'm not too sure where to stay or how long for. I'm 22 years old and will be travelling with my partner. We're both fairly active and want a good mixture of adventure and relaxation! Here's my plan so far:
Seminyak - 2 nights (have heard bad reviews about the area but arrive in Denpasar around 11pm so stay here will only be short)
Ubud - 3/4 nights (want to ...

I am planning to spend a few days in Tarempa - located on Pulau Siantan in the Anambas Island chain.
There is very little information about this destination online (which adds to the charm), but I was curious if anyone has recommendations of lodging, restaurants or activities.
Should I book a hotel room in advance, or upon arrival? Does anyone have any idea how much rooms cost in late May/early June?
This site has helped me understand the logistics of getting there via ferry: www.anambasferry.co ...
Has anybody experience with individual visit to the Mentawai Islands? I am wondering if there are accommodations available on arrival because what I can find online are all fancy and expensive resorts for surfers who want to sta all in.
Does anybody have a recommendation for a hiking guide? ...
I'm an American traveling to SE Asia for the first time beginning in May! I am planning to fly into Denpasar , do Bali and Lombok for about 10 days total, then fly into Singapore for 2 days or so. From there, I am planning to take a ferry to Tanjung Pinang (in Indonesia), before taking a long ferry to the Anambas Islands for 7 days.
My total time spent in Indonesia will be well below the 30 day max granted under the free tourist visa... will I need to apply for a visa-on-demand when ...
I will be travelling to Indonesia with a friend in the beginning of May.
We were looking at some highlights to decide what we wanted to see in our 2-week holiday.
We would love to combine Yogyakarta (with Borobudur+Prambanan), Mount Bromo, Snorkelling and seeing the dragons at Komodo island, visiting Ubud and spend a few days at the beach...
We know it is a lot for 2 weeks.... The plan would then look like this:
Day 1: Leave at home airport
2 Arrival in Yogyakarta

Hi all, I'm from Italy.
I'm searching for guesthouse/bungalow/hotel with the beach for good snorkeling from the shore in Sulawesi.
I've been in Maratua Guesthouse and Kanawa Island and I loved it.
Thanks in advance.
Hi everyone! Was hoping to get some advice for my upcoming trip. This April I'll have three weeks to cycle Flores or parts of it. I'd also like to combine the cycling with some diving and volcano trekking. Has anyone got some tips for a rough itinerary? Do you know a place to hire a mountain bike in Flores? I'll have to catch at least three flights to reach the island and I'm guessing transporting a bicycle would be rather costly. Also, are the road conditions tolerable?
Any advice is highly ...
My partner and I will be travelling from Java to Lombok in April. We're looking at having 1 or 2 whole days around the Kuta area before we head north to the Gilis.
We land late in the evening but aren't sure whether to spend all of the following day and night in the area, or have two whole days and 2 nights before heading up to the Gilis.
we're not surfers but do love spending time walking and relaxing on the beach as well as swimming and eating/drinking at some nice places.
I'd b ...

Hi guys, I'm new to this forum. I'm a geologist doing 5 weeks of research across southern Indonesia. I'll probably be spending most of my time in coastal villages and beaches around Yogya, Bali, Lombok and Timor. After the research is over, I have about a week in the beginning of August to do whatever I want before heading up to Vietnam. I know for sure that I'll want to visit Komodo for a day or two, and my flight to Vietnam leaves from Denpasar, but I'm having trouble deciding what else to ...
