Posted by Lyoungie on 13/11/2008 at 16:26

Hi, I am interested in going to Laos for one week. I was thinking of editing the 2 week agenda to fit my schedule. The suggestions were: 1) Vientiane -> Vang Vieng (stunning scenery, backpacker scene) 2) Vang Vieng -> Phonsavan (Plain of Jars) 3) Phonsavan -> Luang Prabang (stunning scenery, temples, riverside town) 4)Luang Prabang -> Muang Ngoi (small town, riverside setting, backpacker scene) 5) Muang Ngoi -> Udomxai (temple, waterfalls) 6) Udomxai -> Luang Nam Tha (trekking, eco-to ...

luang prabang from chiang mai

Posted by rhess106 on 16/11/2008 at 00:20

I am going to be travelling in Thailand and Laos later this month. I arrive in Bangkok on November 29th and will make my way north through Ayutthaya, Sukhothai/Phitsanulok, and Chiang Mai. From there, I'd like to fly from Chiang Mai to Luang Prabang, stay a few days, then fly to Vientiane or Bangkok on the way back. I'd like to wait until a couple of days before flying to book the Chiang Mai to Luang Prabang and LP to Bangkok legs of the trip. I'm hoping to have some flexibility to get to ...

Amazing Space Amazing Grace.New mid level accomodation .Luang Prabang Laos.

Posted by simonrackleft on 14/11/2008 at 15:49

Amazing Space Amazing Grace By a serious of fortunate incidents I have just had five days at a soon- to- be opened hotel named (not so fortunately) Le Bel Air. The name though is the only unfortunate thing about the place....the rest gets a ten out of ten rating. Location.....right on a sizeable river near its junction with the Mekong in Luang Prabang Laos ....no roads just lawn then picket fence then water. Its probably the world's only tranquil two hectare rural location in the centre of a ci ...

Don Dhet transport from Pakse

Posted by bunny81 on 14/11/2008 at 01:08

Hi all, my husband and I arrive in Pakse early January on a flight which arrives in at 10am. Is it easy to then get a bus straight to Nankasang and the boat to Don Dhet? Times, prices would be great! Trying to work out how soon we could get there as we only have 3 nights to spend on Don Dhet. Then, returning from Don Dhet, our flight leaves Pakse at 11.45am, i guess we have to check in at 10.45am. Is this enough time to get from Don Dhet to Pakse airport? Thanks for any info!! ;-) ...

Flights to Luang Prabang from Vietnam?

Posted by halu on 21/8/2006 at 10:57

I'm gonna be in this area in November, and I'm just wondering about the easiest way to get from Saigon/Ho Chi Minh City to Luang Prabang. I looked at the Lao Airlines sight a few weeks ago, and direct flights were listed, but I looked tonight and there were no flights to anywhere in Laos from Saigon/HCM. Apparently Hanoi is shut down for an APEC conference when we arrive in Vietnam, so we can't go through there. We're only going to have a few days to spend in the area, and would prefer a di ...

Luang Prabangs Phusi Mountain WARNING!

Posted by bowdie4733 on 12/7/2007 at 18:03

Upon our assent of Luang Prabangs Beautiful Mountain top Temple and spectacular viewing point of Mount Phousi we were approached by " Tribes Women" selling the cruel trade of release for profit of imprisoned birds in the tiniest of cages, so small that they cannot span their wings. Again at the top of the Mountain we were approached. We told these sellers in a calm non condecending manner of how cruel this practice is and the immorality it holds. The famous " Laoation Smile" quickly dimini ...

Phonsali in Jan/Feb 2009

Posted by beagle316 on 24/10/2008 at 16:42

Hi, I will be spending most of January and February in remote villages in Northern Laos. I expect to be in the districts of Khua and Samphan and staying most of the time with local people in their homes. I was wondering whether anyone can recommend what sleeping bag (in terms of temperature rating) I should bring with me. I understand that most of the time the rating provided on the bag is the absolute minimum and most people would not want to be in the bag at that temperature but if ...

I came over here for a 6-week Thailand holiday, when I was in Pai a travel agent talked me into taking a river trip to Luang Prabang. At the moment I am in Soppong, i intend to leave Pai on 27/10 to go to Huay Xiai. Can anyone tell me where else would be a good idea to go in Laos and how much money I would need? I'm staying in 300 baht gh's in Thailand and I wouldn't want to stay longer than about 4 days in Laos as there were still a few places in Thailand I wanted to visit. ...
