Luang Prabang and Jomas to relocate

Posted by wayan_bob on 29/4/2013 at 11:00

The sad news is that the River Loft restaurant is no more. I had a conversation with the owner this morning (29/4/13) who informed me that she needed a break and that she had helped secure a long lease for Joma's to relocate there. Her staff would be retained by Joma's, but if her current staff wanted to start another River Loft restaurant elsewhere, she would encourage them to do so. Sounds like a win win situation all round, because Joma's need to expand and cannot in their current location. ...

Before coming to Laos, my fiancee and I were elated to learn that nearly 15 years ago the UN had established an acclaimed program around Luang Namtha that minimized impact on the local villages, helped protect endangered primary forests, and maximized profits for the impoverished inhabitants. Naturally, given all the positives involved, we were more than willing to pay extra in the hopes that our dollars would have a positive effect. Unfortunately, we were great dismayed to discover that many, ...

Posted by kbabin on 9/4/2013 at 07:02

Let that be a warning!" My boyfriend and I will be travelling to Laos from Chiang Mai (across the Mekong from Chiang Khong) around the 18th of April. Will we have any issues?? It's just after Songkran.. If there is any information anyone could give to us ...

Hi folks, I am going to be in northern Laos for a limited time (just a week unfortunately) and an debating whether to spend two nights in either Nong Khiaw or Vang Vieng . I am looking to chill out and enjoy the scenery/peace and do a bit of trekking/caving. If I were to go to Nong Khiaw, then I would bypass VV due to time constraints and fly from Luang Prabang to Vientiane. I've read that Vang Vieng has calmed down a lot of late due to interventions from the Lao Government, but I basically ...

3 weeks in Laos in June/July

Hi everyone, I have a question about travelling in Southeast Asia's wet season. I only have 3 weeks for a holiday and haven't been overseas before.. after chatting to a few people and reading a lot on here, I was thinking of spending the whole time in Laos (travelling alone). I'd love to see more of SEA, but don't want to overload myself and miss out on things in Laos. Just have to go back another time! So basically I'd really appreciate some opinions on whether it is a silly idea to go in th ...
