bus tha khaek to lak xao

Hi, i have a hard time finding out if there is a direct bus connection from Tha Khaek to Lak Xao (actually want to get off in Ban Nahin for the kong lo cave). I've read a lot of stories of people having a hard time with switching busses etc. So if possible i would like to avoid this. Hi, Hope thoses info gonna help some of you If you really want to know about the contry and see authentic towns and villages i suggest to go in the North. It's a little bit cold, but the landscae is really nice. Luang Prabang and Vang Vieng it's not really Laos, for me, it was to touristic. A lot of travellers only go in thoses towns and they had a bad opinion about the entire contry and the can you judge a contry when you only go in touristics places... ?? Chiang Khong ...

New road south from Phonsavan?

Planning a trip to Laos & Cambodia starting in Vientiane . We want to go north and then return south without going through Vientiane again. We've heard there's a new road due for completion going south from Phonsavan to Savannakhet. Anyone know if it has been completed or what the options are for this sort of journey? Google maps certainly suggests it's a possibility (journey time about 6 hours or so); but that may be misleading. ...

Would i be correct in saying to get from Muang Ngoi to Luang Namtha most directly- I would need to get the -boat from Muang Ngoi to Nong Khiaw, -bus to Udomxai, -onwards bus to Luang Namtha? So I may be in louang prabang or Vientiane (or somewhere else in laos, my plans are so flexible!) for Christmas this year, even though they don't celebrate Christmas so it is not a holiday will it be busy with travelers around this time? I know places like the islands and beaches in Thailand need to be booked because they fill right up but is it the same for Laos? And if so, how far in advance will need to book? I usually don't like to book in advance as I have a lot of time around south east ...

Hey guys, I'm looking to move to Luang Prabang for an internship in January and stay at least 6 months, maybe longer. I am thinking if staying in a guesthouse first and look around for something more permanent while I'm there.
