Skip the north, doing only the South ?

Posted by 3drazor on 26/1/2012 at 15:01

Hello, i'm currently planning a second trip to Laos and Cambodia. As i have already seen the big hitters, i'm planning to see something new, possibly more rural than the last time (best thing of the last trip was Nong Kiaow ) and thats where i'm a bit stuck with my intinerary. At first my plan looked like this: Go to Chiang Rai, spend some days there, go over to Laos and spend maybe 4-5 nights in northern Laos (Luang Namtha province), doing some sightseeing with a scooter (Muang Sing, Boten, vi ...

Hi there, I will be in Laos (VTE,VV and LP) in Feb and was just checking weather.com to get in the right mood. BUT then I saw that currently the night temperature in LP goes down to 4 C?? Is that really true? I planned on taking one pair of jeans and a hoodie as long clothes but did not think of taking warm clothes esp. for the night for me and my boy. Can you please advise? I suppose most of the hotels just have sheets.... will I freeze then?? Please note: I am a girl! ))) Thanks for some rem ...

Alternative option for Luang Prabang - Pakse trip

Posted by jennyk80 on 21/1/2012 at 16:50

Hello, I would like to discuss feasibility of my travel plan. We will enter Laos through Vientiane and continue to the Luang Prabang via VV. After few days in LP and surrouding arreas we will continue to the south and cross border to the Cambodia (high level plan - there should be stops during the journey). My question is - how difficult (how many hours, what can be seen during the trip) is to travel by route Luang Prabang - Phou Khoun - Phonsavan - Muang Khoun - Paksan and after conti ...

2-3 weeks in Laos - Northern or Southern?

Posted by jennakuz on 13/12/2011 at 12:47

Hi, I am going to be in Laos for 2-3 weeks in March/April of 2012. I see there are two 2 week trip outlines for Laos on travelfish, one of the north and one of the south. I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions of pros/cons of either part of the country? I am a lone 20 year old female Canadian traveller if that helps - looking to do more than just tube down the river and drink! I want to see the true beauty of Laos! Any suggestions are greatly appreciated! Thanks ...

Applying for Laos visa in Hanoi or on arrival?

Posted by gorkreg on 27/12/2011 at 21:24

I am entering Laos from Vietnam (Tay Trang). Do you recommend applying for the visa in Hanoi 's consulate beforehand? I have heard that it is more expensive in Hanoi and there is also the hassle of dealing with consulates and probably having to come back in one or two days to collect the passport. Obviously, I prefer to get it on arrival (=easier) but I don't know if there is something I am missing and should know about (apart form the $ and the photograph). Thanks ...
