Flying to Phongsali. Is it possible?

Posted by songbird on 6/11/2009 at 04:40

We are planning next month's trip to Laos and wanted to fly VTE - Phongsali and then meander slowly downriver to LP. However, the Lao Air website now announces that it stopped flying to Phongsali (and 2 other destinations) on 1st Nov. They recommend looking at Lao Capricorn Air but that seems to be only freight. Is it still possible to fly to Phongsali and if so with which airline? I think a major rethink is on the cards! ...

Chanthimmeng Guesthouse, Muang Sing

Posted by christay2009 on 8/3/2010 at 20:04

I noticed this wasn't in the Muang Sing accomodation section. Excellent views over the rice fields from a balcony upstairs - including a big table where you can eat/drink/read. The rooms were clean, beds were good, hot showers.. A picture from GT Rider If you are in the centre of Muang Sing - if there is one?! - just walk in the direction Xieng Kok. You'll come to a cross road, on the right is a guesthouse - the road to the right leads to the Sing Charlern Hotel [mentioned on TF]. Th ...

Herbal steam & massage - Nong Khiaw and Luang Prabang

2 recommendations: In Nong Khiaw - about 100 yards from the bridge (opposite side from bus station) on the right hand side a family has set up a herbal steam bath and massage in their house, building on knowledge that's been in the family for generations. For 50,000 kip you get a massage (fully clothed, by someone of same sex) then this wonderful herbal steam bath. All very friendly. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. In Luang Prabang you can have a similar, if slightly more professional feeling, experie ...

Double rooms with cable tv, air con, ceiling fan, mini bar (well priced), etc. Beds are comfortable. Rooms are quiet. Rooms are sparsely decorated, but white sheets and a silk runner (no tacky puppy sheets here) plus an armoire to store clothes (a nice touch).
