Taxi from Lahad datu to Semporna

Posted by Joey82 on 22/8/2011 at 20:21

Hi everyone, I'm wondering if anyone knows how much a taxi will cost from Lahad Datu to Semporna? I know the best way is a mini van but I'll be coming from the Danum Valley and think I get dropped off in Lahad datu about 3:30pm so I'm guessing it will be too late (especially if they only leave when full) I really need to get to Semporna that same day though so I make the boat to Mabul the next morn! Are taxies easy to get from Lahad Datu? Thanks! ...

Perhentian Besar revisited

Posted by tezza on 13/8/2011 at 16:55

I got back to Besar for the first time since '99. More resorts, estaurants etc but still a nice location. BEST BEACH - the one at Perhentian Island Resort. This is open to the public and can be walked to from all resorts except Bubble's Dive Resort. Bubbles Dive Resort beach is maybe next - Bubbles is exclusive to this beach, there is okay snorkelling off the sand. Only problem is access - boat only. Abdul's and neighbours' beach is arguably as good - even better snorkelling north of the mid-be ...

Port to Port: Tioman to Redang - where to stop?

Posted by starfish on 2/8/2011 at 19:10

Hello there! Just a week away from my trip and there a few bits that need ironing out! We are planning on traveling from Tioman on the 18th August and need to be at the port for our transfer to Redang on the 20th August. I have found an overnight bus from Mersing to Kuala Terengganu on transnational buses. However, what is there to do in Kuala Terengganu for a day and night? I did look to stop over at Cherating, however with a 4 hour bus and then busing the next day I did not feel like this wa ...

Gunung Mulu National Park and Miri accommodation, Sarawak, Borneo

Posted by KirstyB on 11/8/2011 at 18:07

Thought I would share this bit of information about places to stay in Mulu and Miri as when I tried to book dorm beds at the Park HQ in Gunung Mulu for our recent visit and found them full, I had difficulty finding much information about equally cheap alternatives. Mulu Gunung National Park Firstly, after having a nose around the dormitory accommodation at the park HQ I would still recommend this as a first choice if it were available, although there's not a massive amount in it in terms of wha ...

Hi Everyone. I'm a 23 year old male from Belfast. I'm booking a last minute trip to Malaysian Borneo for one month tomorrow. I hope to arrive on Sunday 31st July / Monday 1st August. I spent some time travelling mainland Malaysia last year and so am really excited about fulfilling my most regretful not see. However, as it's so last minute I haven't had time to make much plans. All I know is that I'm flying to Kota Kinabalu where I intend to use as a base to explore Sabah. Following this, I thi ...

Danum Vally or Tabin Wildlife Reserve???

Posted by Joey82 on 21/7/2011 at 16:44

I am trying to decide weather to spend 2 nights / 3 days in Danum Valley or the Tabin Wildlife Reserve. I'm traveling alone and this will be a luxury after 3mths backpacking! Both look fantastic. Tabin will cost RM1180 while the BRL in Danum is even more expensive RM2580 I really can't decide which one would be the better experience and if going to Danum Valley would be worth the extra cost. Has anyone been to either/both? Advice would be helpful!! ...

3,5 Weeks Malaysia 22.07. - 19.08, need Tips for Itinerary and general questions

Posted by nochnbier on 20/6/2011 at 13:59

Hi There! I will visit Malaysia for 3,5 Weeks with my Girlfriend this summer. We dont want to "rush" things, since we're not that immune to humid heat (e.g. we won't be hopping on and of busses every day to "see as much as possible"). We want to see nature and culture, but we wont do heavy-duty-trecking (i.e. overnight-stay in the jungle, daytreks should be fine however) The following stops are decided for now: KL 2 nights at the beginning Taman Negara or Cameron Highlands ...

One night in KL?

Posted by silverteeth on 7/7/2011 at 23:32

Hello everyone! I'm going to be stopping off in KL, as I fly from Siem Reap to Bali. I'm a bit pressed for time, but I'm thinking if I'm going to stop there anyhow, I might as well spend the night. Do you think it's worth changing money, getting out of the airport, finding accommodation, and then lugging myself back to the airport in the morning? Can I see and eat enough in KL in less than 24 hours to justify it? Thanks! ...

Day trips from Kuching

What are your favourite day trips to take while visiting Kuching? We've already shortlisted: -Sarawak Cultural Village -Semenggoh -maybe kayaking -Gunung Gading (if timing is right to see Rafflesia) -Gunung Santubong--can we still climb it and I've read about a waterfall to swim in? -day in the city (see Chinatown, museum, mosque, cat statues, etc.) -Kubah (is it worth it if we have already visited Kinabatangan, Mulu, Bako?) Also, can anyone recommend a company to book a kayaking tour with if ...
