Round Trip Tickets for Visa

Posted by foieslinger on 15/1/2011 at 05:13

Will be traveling for 3 months in Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia and have already purchased a round trip ticket flying into Kuala Lumpur and flying out of Jakarta. Not sure yet how I will be traveling between the countries but will most likely be flying on Air Asia. It seems that all of these countries require proof of in/OUT tickets. Will I be granted a tourist visa if I don't have proof that I am leaving the country? I have not yet been to any of these countries and don't know how lo ...

My passport is filling up fast because of all the Malaysia connections - any intel on avoiding the stamps would be greatly appreciated! ...

I'm a traveller/photographer & live on Ibiza, (for 10 years ) considering moving to another island, in Asia. Looks like Langkawai might be a good option, but I have only read about people holidaying there for short stays. Has anyone stayed there for months, or a year ? Would like to know if there are any europeans living there, and approximate cost of renting a house (preferably) or apartment annually. Also the climate, what is it like over 12 months ............. is there a heavy rainy sea ...

Langkawi to Thailand

Posted by CrankyCarrot on 15/12/2010 at 09:27

I'm heading back to Thailand from Penang and wondering if it's worth going via Langkawi. If I do that, do people typically re-enter Thailand in Satun, or do they go back through the mainland of Penang and go the Hat Yai route? Are there any extra costs associated with going back to TL through Satun? Why is it 60rm to Langkawi and only 30rm to Hat Yai, which is way further? ...

Malaysia In July

Posted by sean82 on 4/1/2011 at 09:50

We Fly in to KL on the 1st July for our Honeymoon and will be spending approx. 3 weeks in Malaysia. We were thinking about spending the whole time in the Perhentians Besar but was wondering is that too long. We both love Scuba diving and just relaxing on tropical islands but as I can gather from other posts and guide books there isn’t a lot to do other than dive, snorkel and relaxing on the beach. Was thinking maybe spend 2 weeks there and a week somewhere else? If you think 2 weeks is too ...

KL airport connecting flights

Posted by battambangdave on 22/12/2010 at 14:56

Hi. My Airasia flight from UK arrives in KL at 1325. I want to catch an outbound airasia flight at 1455 to Phnom Penh . Assuming no it do-able?? I assume can't check through my luggage, so I would need to pick it up after arrival from UK, and then checkin for the outbund flight to Phnom Penh. The flght from KL to Phnom Penh is very cheap at the moment, so it is worth giving it ago, if I have a decent chance. The problem is there don;t seem to be later departures for either Malays ...

Malaysia in August

Posted by ChrisM48 on 30/10/2010 at 11:06

If I am reading the weather charts correctly it seems that August is not overly affected by the monsoon seasons in Malaysia. Any one able to confirm this is correct? That being the case would appreciate some itinerary suggestions for a 3 week stay in Malaysia. We have a preference for coastal stays but glad to consider any other possibilities. Thank you in advance ...

Snail Pace Through Sarawak

Posted by CaitlinP on 1/12/2010 at 18:05

Hi all I'm traveling with a girlfriend for 10 days in Sarawak. We don't move fast, or far, and she's on a tight budget, so I'd love some advice about how to best spend our time. Ideally, we want to spend some time in National Park, a LOT of time on a beach without spending much money, and maybe two nights somewhere luscious and outrageously cheap for what it is! I've trawled the net already, and am wondering whether the little town of Lundu might be a good base, because its near two National ...

Butterworth to Cameron Highlands bus?

Posted by sophgibs on 18/12/2010 at 22:33

I will be travelling from Surat Thani down to Butterworth on the train in a few days; I am looking to head straight to the Cameron Highlands, ideally in one go. All the websites I have checked reference Penang to Tanah Rata, but some use 'Penang' and 'Butterworth' interchangeably, so I would like to know if there is a bus direct from Butterworth to Tanah Rata or whether I'd have to get the ferry over to Penang first? Any advice would be much appreciated! ...

Trip ideas - Bangkok to Bali

Posted by JayBee on 23/8/2010 at 05:13

I have 3 weeks to get from Bangkok to Bali. I'm not bothered about travelling overland from Bangkok, so was thinking of getting a flight out to somewhere to like KL or Singapore (or anywhere) and going from there. I'm thinking Java, Bali & Lombok should be on the tour. And I'd obviously like to do part of Malaysia. Wouldn't mind including Sabah, although that might be pushing it on the time available. Anyone got any good suggestions of a possible route to take in that time? Don't mind a fli ...

Kuching to Kota Kinabalu by bus

Posted by fox80 on 16/6/2010 at 10:50

Hi everybody, My first post here:) I am planning my journey for 2011 now, collecting bits and pieces of information. I would like to travel between Kuching and Kota Kinabalu, I read that the distance is over 1000 km and the travel on Borneo is quite slow. But because I am not a big fan of flying altogether so I am considering going by bus and breaking down the trip into a few little trips, if it is worth the time and effort. Is there much to see on between these two cities? (I am interested in ...

Malaysia/Borneo in 20 days in November/December

Posted by clarelovelace on 21/11/2010 at 16:30

Hi all, My boyfriend is coming to visit me in Malaysia (flying into KL) next week. We're going to have about 20 days and I would really really appreciate anyones help on planning an itinerary. I've never been to Malaysia/Borneo before and I've just arrived in KL. I know that the beautiful East Coast islands are now in Monsoon season so its not a good idea (or even possible) to visit them. We're looking for a nice beach to chill on for a few days, as well as some adventure (trekking/Jungles etc ...

Natural beauty or islands in January?

Posted by hypersigil on 22/11/2010 at 01:03

I am going to be in Malaysia from from the middle to the end of January. I'm primarily there for the Thaipusam festival at the Batu caves near KL, but I have time after the festival to go one other place for a few days. I would love to visit a place of particular Malaysian exotic beauty. I was looking at some of the islands off the east coast, but from what I've read, they are closed down for monsoons until sometime in March. Is this correct? Anywhere else people would recommend that is open an ...

3 Weeks Malaysia late November / early December

Posted by nochnbier on 27/10/2010 at 14:36

Hi there, I have 3 weeks time for travelling from the last week of November to mid-december. How is Malaysia in this time of the year? I read it's rainy-season, so does it even make sense to go there? If it does, I'm happy for some tips If it doesn't, does anybody have any suggestions what to do / where to travel? I have been to Vietnam and Thailand. I had to skip Laos and Cambodia on my last holiday, but I'm not sure if it's worth to fly over to SEA only for these two... How about Indonesia? ...

Perhentians: robbery, it true?

Posted by Aloyacska on 22/5/2010 at 05:25

I know that there have been some discussions about this issue in other forums, but they are from 2008 or even older. It would be great if someone who has been there lately could give an update: is it true that - u get robbed on the beach/in your closed room when you are not there or sleeping - girls should not go anywhere alone - local people are heavily on drugs and walk like zombies? I hope the articles saying all this were very exaggarating and its safe to travel there:) Thanks!! PS: Im mo ...
