Posted by onesun on 17/8/2010 at 09:39

Hi everyone! Heading to Tioman Sept 10th. and not sure where to stay? We have 5days/4nights (short!). We were thinking 2 nights somewhere in Juara and the other 2 maybe in ABC or Salang??? Not opposed to staying in just one place either. Would like a decent place but hoping no more than 50 Canadian (40-45US). Husband's a diver.. but both love relaxing on the beach, also adventures/activities. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!! ...

Cameron Highlands - need anti-malarials?

Posted by LaraP on 9/8/2010 at 17:40

Hi, I was just wondering whether anti-malarials are needed for the Cameron Highlands? For the most part I will be in the tourist areas but will be hoping to go on a few walks/trails if possible. From this map I'm guessing they are not necessary for Penang, Kuala Lumpar or Melaka but can't tell if Cameron Highlands are in the red spot or not: http://www.fitfortravel.scot.nhs.uk/destinations/asia-(east)/malaysia/malaysia-malaria-map/malaysia-(west)-malaria-map.aspx I would appreciate it if so ...

Cameron Higlands-how to backpack?

Posted by fox80 on 4/8/2010 at 14:29

Hello, I am trying to picture how can I backpack through Cameron Highlands in backpacking mode. As far as I know there is no 'hop on/off' bus available so options left are taxis, bus or renting a car.I am not keen on taxis and hiring a car as we are on a budget but I wonder if you decide to travel on a bus, can you make the bus to stop wherever you want (tea plantations ,butterfly farms) and then join in for further travel? This would be my first time in SEA so I am a bit confused/overwhelmed b ...

malaysia -- help!!

Posted by jaclynt on 23/7/2010 at 14:06

Hey guys! My friend and I are leaving Bangkok on the 7th of August, and would like to visit KL. I will be flying out of KL on the 17th (back to Bangkok, then home). I've lost my Rough Guide to Malaysia somewhere in Kanchanaburi, so I need your help as to what to do for those 10 days. Considering we don't want to spend an excessive amount of time in KL, I was thinking of going to Penang first for a couple of days, then KL for the last few days...? We're not in a rush, so it might be interesti ...

Booking accomodations in Perhentians

Posted by petrarch1603 on 21/7/2010 at 11:28

What is the best way to go about finding a place to stay in the Perhentians? It seems like none of the guest houses have websites and the usual hostel booking websites are empty when it comes to the Perhentians. Is the only way to book a reservation to call the phone numbers? I don't have a phone here in Malaysia, but I guess I can always use a payphone. I just wish there was a more convenient way. ...

7 days in Malaysia - where would you go?

Posted by shaydan_01 on 1/2/2010 at 06:55

Hi everyone, My partner and I have a 7 day stop over in Malaysia before heading to Phnom Pehn. We will be arriving on the 16th of April and we do want to spend a couple of days exploring KL, but think that 7 days in the city may be too much. We are looking to head somewhere not too far away (half a days travel from KL at most) where we can experience a bit of Malaysian culture and see some beautiful scenery. Not fussed as to whether it is beach/mountain/jungle whatever and are not really ...

Hi there, sorry for the samey type of question but was hoping for some fresh ideas from you guys... I'm fying into KL on 15 Sept and have 2.5 weeks. how to get from kuching to bangkok?

Posted by jaclynt on 8/6/2010 at 23:37

Hey! I'll be in Kuching for a week, and I have to fly into BKK on July 9. Skyscanner tells me the cheapest way to get there is to book two separate tickets with Air Asia: one from Kuching to KL, then from KL to BKK. Is a 2-hour connection in KL enough time to make it to my next flight? Also, is it better to book now? Or should I wait until I get land in Malaysia on July 2... ...

Borneo 10 days

Hello! I'll be in Borneo for 10 days end of July and I know it's not much time, but I want to get the best out of it. I'll fly into Miri on 25th of july and want to fly next morning to Mulu. How long would you recomend to stay in the national park, is 2 nights enough? Then I'll fly from Mulu directly to Kota Kinabalu and want to stay there for 2 or 3 nights. I'm not interested in climbing Mount Kinabalu, so I will go by bus to Sandakan, I really want to see the Orangs at Sepilok Center. What ...

Malaysia as an alternative to Thailand?

Posted by bluebelle on 18/5/2010 at 05:29

My friend and I (both female, early 20s) are booked to go to Thailand, her for 4 weeks and me joining her for the last 2. There is a chance we might have to rearrange or leave when we get there because of the ongoing problems. Originally our plans included Bangkok, some smaller towns and villages, national park (jungle-like but quite accessible) and island hopping, beaches, maybe scuba diving. I was wondering how we might plan a similar trip in a similar time frame if we ended up going to Malay ...

Posted by MirTraynor on 16/5/2010 at 03:52

Hey, We are looking to travel to Taman Negara from KL on the sleeper train to Jerantut, and then taking the bus to Kuala Tahan. Spending the day there, and then returning that night to Jerantut to get the sleeper back to KL... this seems to be possible, but I have a few questions and hope you guys can help! Firstly, if we choose to get the bus there from KL (as the sleeper arrives at 3.30am!), it will get us to the jetty for about 9.30am. Will this get us there in time for the boat trip into t ...
