Hi guys and gals,
I am currently staying with friends in KL, and we're heading up to the cameron highlands on the weekend. I was thinking of heading on to Penang for a few days next week but also want to learn to dive.
I have been told the places to learn are Perenthians and Tioman. As I am backpacking, price is important, getting there, course and accomadation.
I am not sure if I should go Penang --> Kota Baru --> Perenthians
or Teman Negara then onto the Islands?
Next stop is goi ...
Were in the process of planning our trip but Ive read that some airlines wont let you board the plane unless you have a return ticket BA being one of these. Has anyone travelled with Air Asia one way to KL and did they have any problems?
Were going to be moving on from KL and so will have tickets for onward travel.
I am after recommendations for beach accommodation in Malaysia. Basically what we are after is...
Snorkelling off the beach
Not large multi storey hotels, rather somewhere with some character
A little bit of luxury
Not so isolated that we can't eat outside the resort
While I wouldn't say money is no object, we are looking for a bit of spoiling.
Anyone have any recommendations? ...
So I’m trying to figure out the most efficient way to travel from Penang to Koh Samui. I’ve read elsewhere that I can book a Mini bus in Penang that will take me straight through to Samui. If this is true, about how much will it cost? About how long should a trip like this take?
My girlfriend and I will be arriving in KL on 20th July after 4 weeks in south Thailand.
We have between 3 and 4 weeks before heading to Singapore. Even though we have some ideas on where we want to go i'm still stuck on parts.
Theres some really cheap flights to Penang so after 3 days in KL maybe another 3/4 days in Penang. But then should we head to the Perhentians? I'm not sure if we will be bored of beaches after 4 weeks of them in Thailand.
We like the sound of the Jungle ...
Travelling by train from Thailand to KL and want to stop off at 2-3 places on route.
Has anyone any suggestions?
We're interested in wildlife, beaches, good scenery and jungle. Not so bothered about nightlife!

I need my annual Japanese Enceph booster. Does anyone know if this will be easily available in Kuala Lumpur for foreigners?
I will be in KL for three days in April and am wondering if it is feasable to do a day trip to Mekala without wasing too much time travelling or do you think I should just stick to the city?
If anyone has any good suggestions for day trips out of KL I would love to hear them! Accomodation for KL is already booked so staying away the night is not an option.
Thanks in advance! ...
I’m arriving in Malaysia at the end of November 2010 for a years travelling with my girlfriend and am looking some where nice to spend Christmas and New Year. I had looked at Langkawi but had thought also of moving up into Thailand.

Does anybody knows what is the best way to go to Melaka from the Perhentian islands. Is it possible to do this without going through Kuala Lumpur again?
We are doing a loop.
Kualalumpur-Cameron Highlands-Perhentian Islands-Melaka- and back to Kuala Lumpur.
We're doing this trip in 14 days.
Thanks a lot for your help ...
Will be in Singapore and Malaysia with three other people for a frustratingly short seven days in early March. I've looked all through the Malaysia forum (and have culled lots of helpful info about KL to Taman Negara, thanks to Bruce Moon and SBE, especially)but haven't seen this particular itinerary. Is it possible to fit in the following, even if we fly in some places: Jungle Railroad (even if just for a stretch), Singapore, KL, Taman Negara, and Kuching? And obviously, we'd just be hitting ...

I am stopping into Malaysia for the first time on the way to and from Cambodia in January. I think we will spend a few days in KL (3nights)on the way to cambodia and then on the way back we thinking of going direct to Melaka (2 nights) from the airport, rather then do a day trip from KL.
We will be arriving at KLIA at 1600 and was wondering how the best way to get to Melaka was (taxi/bus? times/prices?). Then we will be returning two days later for a 10am flight back to Aus.
I am leaving for a 4-month-trip to southeastasia next week, and will spend the first weeks in malaysia, then go on to indonesia.
in both countries, I will be travelling on my own. does anyone have experiences how easy or how hard that is, what I have to pay special attention to, etc?
thanks for any information.
I have checked on internet but am reading/seeing different reviews on the Malaysian visa on arrival. Basically we arrive in KL LCCT on 1st May and need a 90 days visa on arrival (or is it visa exemption, not sure?) anyway, need to know if we need proof of onward flight (not planning on having this as want to travel up through Thailand but want to arrange this once in Malaysia as can be very flexible. Also, wondering if it is possible to arrive from UK to KL, goto Malasian Borneo, then visit ...
