10 hour layover in Kuala Lumpur

Posted by Dutch on 14/7/2014 at 01:12

My girlfriend and I are heading to Bali tomorrow for our 3 week Indonesia trip (and are really looking forward to it!). The bad is news is that we have been informed today that the last leg of our journey to Bali has been rebooked on a later flight. We will be arriving at Kuala Lumpur at 17:30 and the next flight to Bali will take off at 04:15. This means a stopover of a little over 10 hours! Do you think we will be able to visit the city during our stopover? And if so, what would be the best ...

Are the Borneo east Coast and dive spots safe?

Posted by pete61 on 22/4/2015 at 05:28

Aust Govt travel warnings recommend to reconsider your reason for travel in that part of Sabah due to possible kidnappings. How real is the possibility this might happen? Are people still going there to dive? We're thinking about going September. Pete ...

Pangkor vs Langkawi

Posted by catseyes8787 on 14/1/2015 at 10:40

Hi I'm trying to decide which island to visit; I'm going to Malaysia in March (I know, just on the edge of the dry season) and would like to spend some time on the west coast before heading to Borneo. As a reference, I completely fell in love with Koh Lanta in Thailand and I'm looking for the same "laid-back"/Malay feel. I'd love to do some diving too, so wondering which island has the best dive sites. Lastly, which of the two would be best suited for a budget backpacker? (looking for ...

Tourico Vacations trip to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Posted by Jennifer74 on 21/3/2015 at 17:30

I went there for business in January'15 and stayed in a very nice JW Marriott Hotel in Kuala Lumpur Selangor, nicely located by the mall and surrounded by many restaurants. I was pleased with everything - hotell staff, food and hotel lounge on the 24th floor. That was my kind of busy city life with exotic twist. I had a great time! Nice place for vacation and business. What other places and hotels would anybody recomend as far as attractions and convenience? ...

Starting in Malaysia

Posted by susanne2306 on 2/3/2015 at 07:41

Hi, I am planning a solo 5-6 month trip around Southeast Asia, starting early next year. I have created a rough itinerary for myself which starts in Malaysia. Is Malaysia a good destination to start my trip? I am a young female and I have never been to Southeast Asia or traveled alone before. Just taking into account that less backpackers go to Malaysia etc, will I be able to comfortably start my adventure here? Or should I begin somewhere else and come to Malaysia later? I also plan to visit Th ...

I'm due my 3rd verorab injection on Tuesday in Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur) after a dog licked me on koh phagnan. Just wondering is there anywhere I can get it that is not prohibitively expensive? I'll be back in Thailand on the Wednesday where it'll be way cheaper, but do you strictly have to follow the guidelines on the exact days to get the injections? ...

Islands In Malaysia - Feb/March

Posted by TravelMoo on 18/2/2015 at 23:00

Hi everyone, I'm coming to the end of a 5 month tour of SEA and will be flying out of Singapore on the 7th March. I have already spent time there so will probably only spend a night there to catch my flight the following day. I really want to spend my last few days on an island or beach town and it seems to me that going to one in Malaysia makes most sense given its close proximity to Singapore and also because I haven't spent much time there. The main activity I want to do is scuba dive. I go ...

Smoking in Malaysia

Posted by Bridgequeen on 2/2/2015 at 09:32

Hi I have my trip planned for a couple of weeks time - into Kuching and out of Langkawi. I had planned to visit Melaka during my trip and found by chance that it has a total smoke free policy. I know it is a filthy habit and all that but I really can't imagine getting through three or four days without a cigarette. Does anyone know the status of smoking laws elsewhere in the country? ...

Booking accomodation in KL

Posted by Pjotra on 9/1/2015 at 23:18

Please note, that, when booking through a bookingsite, such as Booking.com, the 6%Vat is not mentioned, as is the 10% ' SERVICECHARGE'. Even the smallest guesthouses do not take any direct reservations anymore, but work through a third party, which explains the servicecharge. No such problems on the Malaysian parts of Borneo, though. By the way, did you know that Malaysians from the mainland need a visa for Sabah and Serawak, but that the people from Borneo don' t need one for visiting the mainl ...

Is Sabah Malaysia safe for a women alone

Posted by k1ttyfantastic0 on 17/1/2015 at 17:47

Hi I am looking at going to the Sabah region for about two weeks in August, mostly around Sandakan and Kota Kinabalu. I can't find much information on women travelling alone in this region and would like to know how safe it is? I read about the kidnappings in Eastern Sabah which freaked me out a little bit but still want to go. I have travelled extensively by myself and a fair bit through SEA (Cambodia/Laos/Thailand). I will be staying in budget accommodation and would book day trips out to ...
