We are a french couple, we are travelling Vietnam on two wonderful motobikes, the Minsk. We took the Ho Chi Minh Road from Hanoi to Saigon, the trip is amazing. But we need to continue our world trip, unfortunatly without the bikes, so we sell them in Saigon, at the begining of february. The bike are in rules and ready to ride. The price is 350 USD each and includes a couple of stuff for repair, the helmets and vietnam complete book map.
We can see a few pictures of the minsk and our trip ...
I have a Minsk motorbike that i'm looking to sell in Saigon. I'll be here till around the 7th of Feb.
I bought the bike in Hanoi, and after touring Cat Ba island and the northwest, brought it down to Saigon. Its been a brilliant experience, driving through some absolutely stunning scenery.
Apart from having to clean/change the occasional spark plug the bike has been running lovely. I also replaced the main drive chain and got a full service done a couple of weeks ago so it ...
It's sad to part with them, but the time has come. These bikes have gotten us from Hanoi to Saigon and now we're on our way back. They run great and can get you literally anywhere in Vietnam. So much fun on muddy backroads! We have to sell them by Feb 18 at the latest. $300 each includes helmets, saddle bags, luggage racks, tools, a bunch of spare parts, spare tires and pump, a tub of grease (awesome). Both bikes have brand new clutch plates and chains, one has a brand new generator ($50) and ...
I'm currently in Vientiane and planning to go north towards Luang Prabang in a few days.
Once in LP, i was thinking of doing a round trip on a rented motorbike. The idea would be to go north from LP towards Nong Khiaw, then continue east to Nam Noen and from there south to Muang Kham, then Phonsavan and back to LP.
Would it possible to do this on a rental at all? and if so, what kind of bike would i need? Would i be alright on a step-trough or does road conditions demand a ...

We just had a great three day ride with Hue riders, starting in Hoi An we went over the Hi Vanh pass to Hue then the HCM trail to Khe San and finally through the DMZ to Can Do....
Fantastic trip with great guides. There were four of us so two were pillioning and two riding at any time.
I think the costs for the three days was $90 for 2 with guides and $60 for the two self rides.
I would caution anyone who considers themselves and experienced rider in Australia to seriousl ...
I am considering purchasing a motorcycle to ride from Phuket to Kuala Lumpur, along the coast. Can anyone give me a rough idea of how much a used 150cc (2stroke?) motorcycle costs in Phuket? Are there any issues with my motorcycle licence only being a provisional licence from Australia? Also, does anyone know if I'll come across any issues bringing the bike across the border into Malaysia?
(or the other way around)
I'm so confused about this, would i be able to buy a bike in Bankok? or would it be better to start in vietnam, as i hear tourists buy bikes without much trouble there?
also is this trip a bit unrealistic? I'm 18 years old and will be travelling with my boyfriend, neither of us have done a trip like this before, and we both only have uk driving licenses.
thanks in advance :) ...
We have a motorbike shop in Lai Chau (a highland province In the North West of Vietnam)which sold lots of bikes to the local people there, and the BEST SELLER bike is the Russian's MINSK 125cc. The minority people use to use this bike to carry the big and heavy goods on the mountain, some time like: buffalo, horse...
And now when there are so many travelers want to buy this bike for their traveling around the country and the area, we know that we are doing something right and good for you! It ...
Have recently done a big trip and wanted to confirm the ease with which you can cross borders. I was riding a russioan minsk 125. The one thing you need is the small plastic 'papers' for the vietnamese registered bike. the papers will be in the original vietnamese owners name and this is 100% fine.
I bought it in Saigon and rode north to Hanoi. From here i crossed into Laos at the most northern crossing of Dien Bien Phu. The crossing is easy and the costs are standardised at arround $5 from m ...

I'm just wondering if you need a license to ride motorbikes of all cc sizes?
My travel insurance motorbike cover only covers me if I hold a valid license in Vietnam. I am aware that International Licenses aren't accepted. My girlfriend and I are only in Vietnam for 3 and a half weeks, so are their any other options for us if we want to ride motorbikes?
I'm posting this for a friend here in Hanoi .

I have a Minsk that I will be selling sometime around the 25-28th of December (give or take a day or two) when I arrive in Hanoi. I have owned it for a month and a half now, and after a few early repairs/replacements (electrical system, clutch plates) in the first week, it has been running perfectly the last month.
I started in HCMC and am currently exploring the north before ending in Hanoi. It has with a doubt been one of the best experiences of my travels. I bought it for $400 in Novemb ...
