Day ride suggestions

Posted by 5acrefarmer on 15/12/2010 at 18:36

I recently did some dirtbike riding which helped me realised my motorbike skills are not too bad (said in a humble tone). I like the idea of hiring a bike here and there and do some pleasant one day rides. Maybe to a site, maybe just for the scenery and in a loop when possible. Any suggestions for Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam would be appreciated as in specific routes from A to B or C and back to A. 2 or 3 day rides would be interesting also. Riding in the mayhem of HCMC or Hanoi is tempting ...

Hey, So - planning a trip to Laos (Bolavan Plateau) and have a quick question about anyone with experience on travel insurance and Pakse/Laos motorbikes. I have a driver's license in the USA (live in China) but do not have an international driver's license. I've heard that the law in Laos is that you need to have an international driver's license but I've heard that doesn't really matter when renting a bike. However, does that matter if you get into an accident and want to collect on travel ...

Me and a buddy are heading to Laos in a couple of months and we were thinking of biking around a bit. I was thinking of going from Luang Prabang and catching a ferry of some sorts to Pak Beng. Then from Pak Beng, ride up to Udomaxai, then east to Nhong Khiaw, and finally down back south to Luang Prabang. Firstly I was hoping to find out, is it possible to take a bike onto a ferry at all? and secondly, would this be a safe route to take on a scooter? I have no motorbike experience and am planni ...
