On my trip to the Phillipines (2014) I would like to visit the Ati Atihan (Kalibo) and Sinulog festival (Cebu City) but the highlights of both festivals seem to be in the same weekend, although I found some different information about the dates of the Ati Atihan. For the Ati Atihan I found 10-19 january but also 20-26 january (and starting the 3rd monday in january). The Sinulog weekend seems to be on january 18 and 19.
About this a few questions:
1. Can someone tell the exact days of both fes ...
I'm hoping someone will be able to have a look over this itinerary and give some advice on a couple of questions I have.
For some background information; I'm meeting my parents in the Philippines after a year of being away from home (I'm in Aus at the moment, from the UK). I spent 8 months in Asia before coming here so consider myself quite a seasoned traveller/backpacker, my parents however, are not, so we'll need some level of comfort while travelling, airconed busses at a minimum, ...

I had a horrid time trying to get out of Terminal 3. I was surprised to find out that the useful and affordable shuttle bus to the MRT/LRT station was no longer available.
The only shuttle that is available is the citylink bus that goes to Libis, which is fine if you are headed north to Quezon City. But the trip schedule is 1 PM, 3 pm and 5pm.
Getting out using public transportation means talking a long walk to the rotonda near the entrance and looking for buses/jeepneys to Baclaran.

Does anybody have any tips for Caramoan?
I made a mistake and booked on Cebu Pac. I found out later that he PAL Express flight would have been better as it has an earlier schedule. So my flight arrives at 10:25 AM. Making it to Sabang Port to take the 1:00 PM boat looks a bit dicey. So should I just spend a day in Naga?
Is it possible to sail cheaply (not on cruisers or freights unless they are cheap offers) overland / overseas to the Philippines from either Cambodia, Laos or Vietnam? Are there any ferry networks?
I've been unable to find any such transport. I'm trying to travel without flying and spending astronomical prices on ships. ...

Do any of you denizens recommend any places located within about a 150 km radius of Clark International Airport?
My budget is extremely modest, so locations with budget accommodation is preferable; places without hordes of backpackers would also be a bonus.
After New Year's 2013, I am planning to spend 2-3 weeks on Malapascua Island. I'm looking for a comfortable place, near or on the beach (I am a diver) for an extended stay.

I have booked myself a 77-day holiday in Thailand which I am thinking of breaking with a 3-week stay in the Phillipines. I have had a look at a cheap flights website and found I can get a return from Bangkok to Manila for AU$468. Does anyone know if there would be a cheaper way? This seems pretty good to me but if I could get a better price it would be appreciated. Also, I've never been to the Phillipines. Apart from the local food, always a very important part of any holiday I take, is there an ...

This hostel is located reasonably close to the Ninoy Aquino airport, probably 30-40 minutes by cab. The more interesting places to eat will be in Chinatown which is a short walk/jeepney ride away. ...
I am backpacking for 6 months in SE Asia, and am interested in spending a total of 6 weeks in Philippines.
I am thinking about spending 3 weeks in Palawan/Coron/El Nido, and the next 3 weeks in Cebu/Bohol/Malapascua.
I love outdoors, particularly scuba diving and anything to do with the ocean and water
I am not too interested in city/night life. I am looking forward to spending relaxed, low-key time and meeting locals and other travelers.
I am wondering if 3 weeks in those areas are sufficien ...

We want to take a family trip to the Philippines (via Singapore) in early June (2nd or 3rd) for about a week.
The kids will be 6 and 8, and we would like a beach holiday that is a quiet spot with good swimming and snorkelling.
An area with some local amenities such as shops and restaurants would be good so that we don't get stuck at the hotel.
We would like easy transport in and out (rather than a 6-8 hr journey one way).
Budget-wise we are looking at budget-middle of the road.
