2-3 wks in Philippines - Jan or Mar?
Posted by Beckyh on 17/4/2012 at 13:05Hi everyone We're looking to go to the Philippines for our honeymoon next year. We're not going directly after the wedding so flexible on dates - either late Jan or early March (so to avoid CNY). Is there any better time to go? We're starting off in Manila, visiting the Taal volcano then onto Bohol, Siquijor and Dauin. We might do a stopover in HK as neither of us have been there but not sure whether we're packing too much in (trip is likely to be about 2.5wks in total) or whether there is anywh ...

Hello! The Negros Island has a lot to offer. Negros Occidental offers both beach and mountain resorts. The town of Sipalay located south of the island has a long stretch of white sand beaches. Punta Bulata is also a nice resort. In the north, you can visit the man-made Lakawon Beach resort in Cadiz City and the sandbar, Carbin Reef, located at Sagay City. Further north is Bantayan Island. For mountain resorts, the Mambucal Resort is a must see with its 7 falls. If you want to experience hardco ...

Hi, I will be in Manila for a week for work, will only have one Sunday to do any sight-seeing, any suggestions? Also good places to try local foods etc at night would be good. I am not into big shopping malls and fine-dining, and will be travelling on my own, so somewhere where it is pretty safe to sit out on the street and people watch would suit. I am staying in Makati. I have travelled quite a bit in Asia but haven't been to the Philippines before, so any hints or tips would be appreciate ...

Some visa cannot application in Philippine
Posted by SheaBirds on 18/4/2012 at 21:35Hi, I am not to come to Philippine yet, but from Viet nam, I helped some Philippine's people, who need to go abroad, make visa application to come other countries (Bulgaria, Ukraine); They cannot make the visa from Philippine. I knew there are only 58 country's embassies in Philippine (see the list: http://embassy.goabroad.com/embassies-in/Philippines#). If someone would like to come to other country from Philippine, if any, it is better to completed the visa application before come in Philippi ...

Hi peeps - long time no speak. Just a quick question, we are planning our next holiday and want to fly to Borneo for a few weeks and then take the ferry to Zamboanga but we've heard it's not safe there. I know that this is a subjective question, but would you think it would be relatively safe to do this? Our alternative would be to fly from Kota Kinabalu to Manila but that really wasn't how we wanted to do this trip. Any advice would be appeciated. ...

Why no Philippines on the site?
Posted by AGRO on 30/11/2011 at 01:38I'm an avid reader and fan of travelfish and rely on it heavily for travel advice and just overall reading. However I'm always wondering why there is almost no action on this site on The Philippines. My answer on Twitter as to "why"? Simply said "We've never been there! One day" Which makes sense because how can they write about somewhere they've never been. But I noticed on this forum for example there are thousands of posts about other SE Asian countries while The Philipp ...

Kalibo to Boracay by Helicopter
Posted by MLR1907 on 31/1/2012 at 22:58I'm travelling from Kalibo to Boracay on March 29th and would love to use the helicopter transfer service. This is however VERY expensive for a lone traveller so I am wondering if there is anyone out there that would like to book between us as it is much cheaper (PHP 19,000 per person) for a booking of three people. Anyone travelling on the afternoon of the 29th fancy a transfer in style let me know! ...

Hi people, I need some info on visa and I hope someone can help. So, I can get 21 day visa on arrival in Philippines but apart from some other things I have to show a return ticket when I arrive. But I want to stay more than 21 days so I want to buy the return ticket for a later time than 21 days after arrival and I want to extend my visa when I'm in Philippines. This morning, I arrived at the Babak vehicular ferry dock (on Samal Island, Davao) just in time to see the ferry lift the ramp and move from the shore. I didn't bother to run; I just accepted that I'd missed the ferry. To my surprise, the ticket sellers gesticulated to me to run...I couldn't see why, but when I looked at the ferry, it was coming back to the dock! This isn't a little hollowed out tree trunk, it's a large vehicular ferry which already had a number of cars, a bus and many passenger ...

General info on the Philippines
Posted by boxee on 4/9/2009 at 17:20@Danny: I would avoid the typhoon season at all costs, starting in May/June and finishing September/October. As I write this post there is heavy rain in Manila again, even though we had pretty good weather last week. Regarding the airlines, there's a very healthy competition ongoing right now. Flying here is *very*, *very* cheap(as low as PHP1000 (~15€) for a typical Manila-Kalibo flight to bring you to Boracay). - Philippine Airlines is the national airline, with very good quality they c ...
