travelling to Siargao in October

Posted by Marieke83 on 14/8/2015 at 04:09

Hi Guys, We are planning a trip to Siargao (philippines) end of september and october this year. According to many surf forums and travel blogs, october should be a very good period to travel to Siargao (especially for surfing). Just what just worries me a bit is the fact that october should be the most risky period of the typhoon season in philippines. Does anyone have experience with travelling in october to Philippines and Siargao in particulary? - Is Siargao itself a risky area for typhoons ...

Help needed for travel around Philippines

Posted by Decoy on 5/4/2013 at 17:44

Hello, A friend and I will be travelling around South East Asia early next year. We have researched and planned the majority of our trip but we are having problems finding the best/most convenient route around Philippines. We are planning on flying from Bali to the Philippines. We want to see Palawan, Boracay and Manila in a couple of weeks. Where is best to fly into? In which order is it best to travel between the three? We have heard different things about travelling around the Philippines s ...

Visit the Philippines or Return to Vietnam?

Posted by sunbell79 on 21/9/2013 at 12:17

Hi, I know that this is pretty open ended, but I thought I'd throw it out there. Each Spring my husband and I take a big trip and next year we're debating between visiting the Philippines for the first time or returning to Vietnam, which we absolutely loved two years ago. There's still much to uncover in Vietnam: Sapa, Central Highlands, MeKong Delta, etc. But, we might love the Philippines even more. On our trips we of course love gorgeous beaches, but more than that, we love to get to know a ...

Getting to Beaches from Manilla

Posted by adammcintyre on 2/4/2014 at 04:18

Hey everyone, I fly into Manila in a couple weeks. I have a couple questions: 1. What currencies are accepted at immigration for visas? Should I get a bunch of Pesos before I arrive? Or will I need USD or other foreign currencies? 2. Is it easy to get from Manila to islands / beaches and travel around for a backpacker? Let's say, in comparison to Thailand. Where getting from A-B couldn't be easier. 3. Shall I book hostels for islands/beach resorts in advanced, or shall I just turn up and fin ...

Know any Homestays in the Philippines?

Posted by SebBice on 28/10/2014 at 05:31

My family and I (2 adults, 3 children under 12) will be in the Philippines from mid June to mid July 2015. We are interested in homestays with local people, being involved in their way of life, eating their food etc. Any area will be considered. I would like 100% of my money (if possible) to go to my host and the local community in which we stay, rather than admin fees for an internet site. However, internet site info is also welcome. We have basic needs and can all sleep in together. River bath ...

Thefts abound in Siargao, Philippines (General Luna)

Posted by SEAsiaSurfer on 12/1/2015 at 03:21

Thefts Abound in Siargao, Philippines Be aware of many thefts on resort rooms and private rentals while traveling in Siargao. We fell victim to a house break-in and robbery during our stay here in late December 2014 in the area of General Luna and Cloud 9. After the theft, we spoke to many business owners and ex-pats who live there only to find out that this is a very common occurrence and has been for the past several years. Prior to our visit I read nothing about this and after our visit h ...
