For the start of my 6+ month adventure, I'm flying into Singapore.
While I'm there, I figure I might as well stay for a few days to have a look around and see what's changed in the last 20 years. No problems. Until a friend told me that the days I booked (24-27 Sept) are the exact same days as the Formula 1 event.
Now, to me, a car is a car is a car. Except for blue ones. They're blue - and pretty.
I'm not too thrilled to think that I will be spending my 2 days/3 nights in Singap ...
We will have a couple of nights in Singapore at the end of our month in Asia. I would like to stay in Changi Village. Can anyone offer some suggestions? There is a resort style hotel there but I was after something a bit more rustic.. hostel or homestay or similar.
We have visited Singapore a couple of times before and have stayed in the CBD. Not in to shopping, have seen the zoo, not interested in Sentosa so more after the village life - if there is such a thing in singapore.
I have read that during the Singapore Shopping festival (June-July) everything is at 70% discount. Is it true? (As is sounds unbelievable).
My questions are -
1) Are Electronics (like a DSLR) at a discount.
2) Are reputed brands also discounted (like Sony)
3) Do we get originals and new (first hand) goods.

We are going on budget and prefer not taking the plane. However, we are not sure of the train services to use. Thus, we would require travelling advises like which route to take, what train/bus to take.

I'm looking to buy the Olympus Mju 790 SW and have been trying to get in touch with some Singapore shops and found www.bargaincity.com.sg anyone know how reputable they are?
Bargain City link
thats the link to the quoted deal which is only about £20 cheaper than buying in the UK.
Where else would you suggest I could get it cheaper or would you suggest just get it from the UK as that way I have it as soon as I go, definitely have the two year warranty etc etc?
