Ko Bulon accommodation

Posted by Bilbo1 on 14/2/2017 at 09:59

Hi, I’ll be heading to Bulon early March and was wondering ifanyone can recommend a good place to stay? I’m looking for something basic, clean and safe close to a nice beach for up to 1500 THB max with twin beds. I’ve already checked out Pansand Resort website but that starts at 1700 Baht. Also, would it be necessary to book ahead or is it safe enough for that time of year to just turn up as I’ve heard that tourism in Thailand is down this year? Cheers, Bilbo. ...

Posted by somtam2000 on 13/2/2017 at 01:57

We've just learned of the passing of Gill Daley, the English co-founder of the Soi Dog Foundation on Phuket . She was just 58. The Phuket News has a good obituary up for her and you can read our coverage of the foundation here. The official site is here. Over the years the foundation has saved thousands of animals and inspired both locals and foreigners alike to volunteer, assist, donate and even adopt animals in need. RIP Gill ...

Ideas for 1 month in Isaan and North Thailand?

Posted by Kmcgregor1 on 30/1/2017 at 05:41

Hi there I will be in Thailand from the end of March (arrival either 30/31st into Bangkok) for 1 month and would like to visit some areas in Isaan and head north to Chiang Mai (my friends will be there 11th-18th April so i would like to see them on one of those dates. I was wondering what the best route would be for exploring Isaan over 12/14 days whilst heading up to Chiang Mai? I'm interested in temples, nature, walking, maybe couple of days in a city. Once in North Thailand I'd like to v ...

Getting from Si Satchanalai to Lampang

Posted by Sknew on 9/2/2017 at 23:11

Can someone tell me how I get from Si Satchanalai to Lampang? Do I rejoin the bus that dropped me off from Sukhothai? Or are there songthaeows (sp) from somewhere? I don't know why I forgot to ask this question in the planning stage. I'm learning how, after all my travel experiences, Thailand manages to bewilder me. I need to travel tomorrow (Saturday)! ...

Avoid this bus from Bangkok to Kampaeng Phet

Posted by Sknew on 7/2/2017 at 00:13

The 12:30p bus waited for 45 min past departure so far, apparently to fill more seats? There may be a way to embed a photo of the company, but I don't know it. I am beginning to think that I should just have rented a car. ...

I have no idea how to sum this up.. haha read me.

Posted by Purplehayes on 6/2/2017 at 04:01

Hi there! I arrive in Bangkok on the 13th at 3:30pm and I will be starting my PADI course at 4:30pm the next day. My question is: Where should I stay for the first night? The way I see it there are 3 options which I have listed below. I am curious as to whether it is worth going to Bangkok for the afternoon/evening? I will return to Bangkok so there will be other opportunities. Should I go straight to Samui and spend 1 night there? I won't be back except to alight. Or just spend the night near ...

Visiting Doi Suthep in Chiang Mai area

Posted by Sknew on 31/1/2017 at 19:37

Hi all. I planned a day trip to see, finally, Doi Suthep. But the costs of transportation seem to vary widely depending on the source. I'd prefer to hire a taxi with A/C for half a day. I'd use this for Wat Buak Krok Luang, Wat Suan Dok, and then Wat Phra That Doi Suthep Ratchawarawihan (the main attraction). Where can I negotiate this deal, and what would be fair? I really dislike songtaews, they tend to give me headaches and take forever. Note I will start this trip from Lampang. Woul ...

Car ferry to Koh Yao Yai

Posted by MyThaiPhilip on 1/2/2017 at 07:16

Hi there, I want to bring a car to Koh Yao Yai. The car ferry information on the Yao Yai page is unfortunately out of date and no longer accurate. It is difficult in the extreme to get current information (phone numbers go unanswered, web searches turn up little, et cetera). I had a hotel owner there tell me there was a daily car ferry from Ao Nang (I assume she means the Nopparattara pier) but no one else seems to know about it and she could not provide further details. The car ferry servic ...

Nana to airport via Makkasan: Is this cutting it too close?

Posted by NamManao on 31/1/2017 at 14:16

I've got a Thailand trip planned for March. On March 6 (a Monday morning), I would like to take the 7:10 a.m. flight to Krabi on Thai Smile from Suvarnabhumi Airport. I'll be leaving from the Nana area (Soi 11) and plan to take a cab the short 2 km distance from there to the Makkasan Station so I can take the air terminal train to the airport. Here's the thing though: I see that the first of those trains running in the morning leaves at 6:18 a.m. Information I find online says that the trai ...

3 Days in Bangkok

Posted by GratefulGypsies on 19/1/2017 at 12:41

Hey TF community! We just finished a post that was a long time in the making - 3 Days in Bangkok. Would love some feedback from Bangkok experts or fellow travelers. We didn't really like the city so much on our first visit, but after coming back quite a few times it's become our favorite in Asia. With a good plan I think you can have an amazing few days here - far too many people skip over Bangkok just to catch a plane to an island. If you ask me, sitting on a beach is only fun for a day or two ...
