Posted by annavla on 26/2/2014 at 11:41

Hi there! My trip to Thailand this summer will be my first time traveling all by myself. I am a little anxious about it, but in a good way! I am looking forward to finally going and now I am bussy with planning my trip: where shall I go? what shall I do? and what would i like to see? So I did a lot of research and came up with a couple of places I would liketo see. The only question is: will I be able to do all of this in three weeks? So the places I would like to go are: Bangko ...

bus from pattaya to kanchanaburi

Posted by rohveer on 2/2/2014 at 07:53

Are there any direct buses which reach Kanchanaburi from Pattaya apart from Sri Mongkol bus terminal at Chaloem Phrakiat, Pattaya Sai 3. There are only 2 buses one in the morning and one at evening. Taking a taxi is out of question as it is way beyond my budget and I don't want the hassle of going to Bangkok by bus and then again catching another bus to Kanchanaburi. Thanks in advance.[/ulist] ...

Drownings in Ko Samui

Posted by Yorkshire_Kiwi on 24/2/2014 at 07:37

Please be careful if you're visiting Chaweng and enjoy a dip in the sea. I had the unfortunate experience of seeing somone drown today. Although many of us attempted to revive him he sadly passed away. This guy was a fit strong young person. Since this incident I have seen many such stories from Chaweng, it appears to be a common occurrance. Look out for the red flags and warnings, and if they're there DON'T go in! This has affected me greatly, I can only guess what the families feel. Don't let ...

3 weeks in Thailand in may/june

Posted by sulaco on 24/2/2014 at 07:08

Hi Everybody, I'm planning to spend 3 weeks in Thailand between May 18th and June 8th. In previous holidays I've been in Burma, Cambodia, Vietnam, Malaysia and Indonesia but for some reason, I always skipped Thailand. I will be arriving from Kuala Lumpur and if possible I prefer to avoid Bangkok, since I've been there already (same for Ko Samui). My idea is 2 weeks of sightseeing and 1 week of beach and relax. Starting from Chiang Mai , can somebody suggest an itinerary going south and fin ...

Krabi April/May

Posted by sarah6969pink on 24/11/2013 at 12:25

Hi All, Am planning honeymoon to SE Asia for next year. So far have 4 nights Hong Kong, then onto Bangkok for 2/3 nights. We know we want some time on a Thai Beach. We've done the Eastern Islands before and whilst we have not ruled out going back we'd rather go to the Western Islands and try Krabi - I'm aware that the weather starts to change there in April, so I'm wondering whether it is worth risking it for April/May time. I know no-one can give us any guarantees weather wise - but just afte ...

Bangkok to Siem Reap in Taxi

Posted by chicken_adobo on 19/2/2014 at 00:32

There's 3 of us traveling form Bangkok to Siem Reap in a couple of weeks, probably March 3rd or 4th, and we are looking into renting a taxi instead of taking a bus. Somehow, my travel partners' research say it's not much more expensive per person to take this route, but we're buying convenience this way, since we can stop or not stop anytime along way, and it's less time consuming in a way. We're looking for ONE more person if anybody's interested, so let me know so we can start finalizing ...

Hi Myself and hubby are heading to Thailand for 13 nights on the 26th March. We travelled to Krabi in 2011 but didn't get to do any tours due to the worst floods in over 40 years resulting in 11 days torrential rain on our two week trip:(. Fly from BK to Chang Mai for 3 nights, looking at Shangri La. Want ...

Which Gulf Island In June

Posted by moellercl on 20/2/2014 at 20:22

My 17 YO daughter and I are going to Thailand for almost a month in June 2014. The first week we would like to go to an island. We both love to swim, sunbathe, snorkel, hike some, and really need some help deciding which island or islands to visit. We have about a week. So far I have been leaning towards, Koh TAo, Koh Chang, Koh Samui or Koh Phangan (but it will be FMP) I am not interested in the party scene at all. We like to eat out and shop a little and explore some. We may fly there from Ban ...

Farmer protesters on their way to Suvarnabhumi Airport

Posted by DLuek on 20/2/2014 at 21:20

It looks like the angry rice farmer contingent is on its way to Suvarnabhumi today. According to the Bangkok Post, a leader "insisted that the farmers have no intention of seizing the airport, but admitted that passengers might have some difficulty getting there." That means the access roads might be overrun by tractors, trucks and a few thousands farmers by this afternoon. Definitely a good day to take the Airport Rail Link. Here's the article: ...

Very sad to see the latest developements in Thailand but hopefully it will still be OK for my 14 day trip starting next Thursday. I have planned a bit of a trek around which includeds Bangkok, Pattaya, Chiang Mai and Krabi (Ao Nang). Does anyone have advice on a decent company for Quad Biking in any of those places? Would look for an interesting trip as well as an opportunity to 'have a blast' I have looked at Trip Advisor but nothing was conclusively good. Some friends and I found a small Qu ...

Island Advice, mid May.

Posted by Ahleckz on 18/2/2014 at 12:30

My girlfriend and I are landing in Bangkok on the 7th of May for 5 months. She really wants to go to the beaches first so we'll make our way down to the islands down south. Probably going to fly as it's only 1200bhat to Phuket! However, I'm not sure where to go. Because of the weather I'm assuming that Koh Samui would have the better weather for splashing in the sea/diving/laying on the beach. But Phi Phi/Phuket seems more interesting. What are we looking for? Diving, snorkeling, beautiful beac ...

Stay safe in Bangkok today

Posted by DLuek on 17/2/2014 at 23:54

Some pretty serious clashes between anti-government protesters and riot police taking place right now in the vicinity of Ratchadamnoen Avenue. Khao San Road is still safe but tear gas is in the air as close as Rattanakosin Exhibition Hall. The whole of Ratchadamnoen is best avoided. Also a tense situation at the Ministry of Interior, not far from the Grand Palace. If you're in the Old City, you're best off sticking close to KSR and/or the river, or taking the express boat down to Chinatown a ...
