Chiang Mai - where to stay for a month? Smith Residence?

Posted by TheNewGuy8 on 26/9/2010 at 23:51

I can't seem to decide. I got some quotes for discounted 1 month rates from Smith Res and Na Inn. Smith seems very cheap. I can get a room with everything i need for between 8000 and 9000 THB/month. Or for 17000 THB I could go fancy and get a sutie with multiple rooms and a kitchen. its a little bit outside the old city, i guess. And I dont LOVE the idea of staying in something that feels like a western hotel, but i do need desk/chair, internet, bathtub, fridge, microwave. Anyone have any ...

Thai islands in early Dec: Around Koh Kood or Koh Phi Phi?

Posted by mineomermaya on 20/10/2013 at 20:19

I will be spending 2 weeks in the islands in Thailand beginning of December with my family. Should we choose Koh Kood, Koh Mak Koh Chang or Koh Lipe, Koh Phi Phi and Koh Lanta combination. We have spend 10 days around Koh Phi Phi and were very impressed with the beaches. Even with the low tide you could swim of Koh Phi Phi. What I'm worried about is that there seems to be huge tidal change around Koh Chang/Koh Kood due to shallow waters. My aim is to relax in a quite, unspoilt beach for one week ...

Thais Staying At Foreign Guesthouses Or Eating Where Foreigners Eat.

Posted by theloner on 17/10/2013 at 20:15

Question: Why is it you very rarely if ever see Thais staying at guesthouses where foreigners stay? An example Fame's guesthouse in Chumphon. Nor do you see them eating where foreigners go such as a guesthouse or restaurant aimed towards tourists. Nor do you see them using travel agents. I have my theory. What is yours ? ...

Posted by Travelguy76 on 27/6/2013 at 01:30

Anyone have any experience dating other farangs while living in thailand? Perhaps you met in class to be teachers, or on a dating site? Logistical issues? Are there different rules when you're in a country other than your own? I'm curious to see what it's been like, and I'd I should just avoid it altogether. ...

Koh Samet update?

Posted by Hbuttemer on 13/10/2013 at 12:12

Anyone been to Koh Samet lately? We are an older couple about to begin a six month backpack exploration of SEA. We have scheduled rabies vaccinations at the Thai Travel Clinic in Bangkok beginning on November 1. Our plans at this point are to spend four days in Bangkok and then escape to a nearby beach for a few days before returning to Bangkok for the second rabies shot on November 8. Is Koh Samet a reasonable option at this point? It's hard to find an update on conditions there since the oil s ...

Hi all Myself and my partner are flying to Bangkok on Monday, starting a 6 month backpacking scoot around SE Asia, planning to head North towards Laos (after reading your excellent general weather pages). I've read what I can about flooding there at the minute, but am unclear - so can anyone tell me please: 1 - which parts of the country north of bangkok are hit by flooding? 2 - how this can effect getting around by road or rail, and picking somewhere to stay? Never been backpacking or to SE ...

We will have an after noon fee in Udon Thani and are looking for some suggestions on what can we do there. Will arrive from Vientanne in the morning and fly the next morning out. I came across a name of Phu Prabat, but it is not listed on Trip advisor, so would you recommend to visit, how far is it from Udon Thani and how to get there and back? What would you suggest we can see in Udon, or do for half a day, we are not into shopping. If we would like to try local Isaan cuisine, what dish do ...
